  1. I havent swum there in a while but I did swim a few times last year and water was generally fine but not always great after rain (sometimes a funny smell at the top portion etc)
  2. aha! Poor quality pic attached.
  3. Yeah picked it up about 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. Dont know if you've also noticed but I've never seen a speed bump when riding it.
  4. Husky 450 SMR No idea how to post a pic
  5. Skipping 70.3 next year to do this. Can't wait....2013 was a blast
  6. Skipping 5150 Germiston this year to do the 11Global at Suncity. Heard good things about this race so gonna give it a go this year.
  7. I know it doesnt help but this is why I checked the serial number of my bike with ASG before I bought it. (Internet is full of unhelpful comments...I'm just adding my 1c)
  8. Hmmm...this is good news
  9. 6 hours a week...........easy.
  10. Are you serious that 10spd Campag groupset will work with 10spd Shimano hub and cassette? As a campy owner this intrigues me
  11. http://www.cervelo.com/en/engineering/ask-the-engineers/crank-length.html http://www.slowtwitch.com/Tech/Crank_arm_lengths_for_tri_727.html Just two I found quickly
  12. so much info on slowtwitch on this...dont have the exact link but pretty sure its somewhere on the front page
  13. I only insure what I cant afford to replace. Hence car insured. Household contents not insured. Bicycle not insured. I'm "self insured" for those things. I save the money I would have spent on insurance and if I need to replace I do.
  14. Currently in progress. IDT purchased in December along with a subscription to TrainerRoad has me working on the real issue. Making the MTB lighter and shinier is a side project
  15. I currently have a Specialized XC Comp (2009). It has basic components: - RockShox Tora fork - Avid Juicy 3 brakes - Deore shifters - SLX RD I like the frame but the bike is damn heavy (16kgs) and the brakes and fork could be much better. I'm thinking of updgrading the components (SLX brakes to start, new fork next) and slowly building a better bike. Option 2 is sell the bike and buy a new one. Whats your advice? I'm leaning towards component upgrade.
  16. Couldnt see a 2014 thread (probably because its only March) First time I'm doing this (or any stage race)...entered the ride so it should be relatively chilled. Some newbie questions: 1. Bike transport from JHB: I've used FOTFL for 70.3 and I see they offer a service for Wine2Whales....what do you guys normally do? I'm not a massive fan of putting my bike on a plane and in the hands of the luggage handlers. 2. Getting to start and back again - I see that Greater Cape Tours offers transfer service from CT Airport to start and back from finish venues. Do you generally stay the Wednesday night in Hermanus and then fly back the next day? I'd imagine flying that night would be a mission. 3. What else should I know that I would probably miss having never done this or any other stage race before? Thanks
  17. Get yourself a good floor fan (I got one from Makro - cant remember the make) and have it on while you're on the trainer. I find that I dont sweat excessively with the fan on (still have a towel over the top tube just in case). Was using my GP4000s tyre on the trainer and trainer chowed it. Now using old racing tyre and just bought a Conti IndoorTrainer tyre. Havent tried it yet but supposed to be harder wearing.
  18. Much prefer Saturday races
  19. Praying for dry weather and for my legs to come back. Went for a run yesterday (first after 70.3) and it was pitiful.
  20. Thanks. I was just having a laugh at how tight the neck is on my 70.3 shirt
  21. Polar necks?
  22. Who else is doing the race on the 9th?
  23. Ya those times arent for ants. Also the way I read it he means leaving on 4min...more than a little quick for me
  24. His main set is made up of a 900m set that you do 3 timesthe 300m on 4min, plus the 2 x 150m plus 3 x 100m is 900m do it three times then cool down.
