  1. That's nothing, I've been waiting over a year to get a Sigma camera lens repaired!
  2. At least they were man enough to admit fault .......but why cancel the order when they are honest ......?
  3. and I suppose Vet women draw huge crowds or attract major sponsors. If I organised a race I'd pay elite men & women and maybe juniors. Does any one pay ........... attention to Vet Women!! Seriously, I race for fun, and am a vet, but bot close to the front, even if I was capable of winning my category I wouldn't expect money unless I was an overall winner, like in the Elite bunch!
  4. Anyone remember the Greenhills MTB park near Edenvale Hyperama? I went there this morning and the track where it goes down the mountain from the start is virtually unrideable, which got me thinking if there's anyone out there who would be interested in trying to revive it or know the owners of Greenhills Driving Range?
  5. About 9am I was out riding my mtb near Greenstone Hill. There is a 3-way stop (okay 4-way but one side is gated) at top of Aitken rd on the road the connects Greenstone to Terrace rd. There was nothing coming, but I slowed right down and 4 or 5 'HEROS' flew past me carrying good speed, but swearing at me for almost causing an accident. Next time I will cause a friggin accident because I DO OBEY ROADSIGNS!! Don't know what club they were from but the tossers need to go to traffic school ..... don't nursery schools have thngs like that? Hey d i c k h e a d s I hope you are reading this!
  6. I even use mine outside of cycling. One day I'll start wearong a ID nracelet on each ankle in case I lose a leg ..... yjrm they'll know who to return it to!
  7. There is a rotten culture in South Africa with laws being broken by just about everyone. Why should it be okay for cyclists not stopping for a red traffic light but not for me on my motorbike or for Sipho in a 56 000 kg truck carrying toxic waste. Wouldn't it be nice if Metro Cops decided to enforce the laws and nail cyclists who ignore flaunt the rules. But because no one is being punished the problem will get worse until it becomes like Cairo where traffic lights are ignored all the time and by every road user.
  8. I ripped a 2-inch hole into my tubelss rear tyre whilst out in the miele fields on the Bronkhorstspruit side of Bapsfontein. With no option I rode home on the rim then near the railway line (near Marrister rd) I saw the driver of a bakkie stop so I asked him for a lift. He damanded R50 to take me to the Pomona rd off-ramp of the R21 but I only had R20 but the bastard wouldn't accept that. By the time I got to Finish Lne Cycles my wheel was history. The wheel turns and I hope the idiginous prick in his company bakkie is un-loved and had a bleak xmas & new year!!!
  9. ...... I have been waiting over a year for a Sigma lens to be repaired. In the meantime its cost me R16k to get something I can use to carry on putting food on the table.
  10. Yee haaa - it rained which put a damper on fireworks!!!
  11. Where I ride the biggest danger is brainless idiots on 'kwots' blasting through mielie fields which apart from being dangerous to mtbers also annoys farmers to the point that they dig trenches across the tracks!!! Is it true that they give you a quad when you have your brain surgically removed?
  12. I also had excellent service ........ then I orderd another one coz I lost the first one, then I found the first one stuck to a shirt in my draw. That velcro even sticks to things in the wash!
  13. ah, you reminded me why I don't buy it!!
  14. What I was saying, before the thread went south ...... was that I think stolen bikes simply get sold to anyone who is willing to buy and price or value of the bike means absolutely nuttin. How else would a someone wearing a reflective ACSA vest, but no helmet be using a nice F/S bike with a white Fox fork. My bike was stolen from Kyalami and 18 months later the Polar went to Polar for repairs .... it was sent to Polar by Cajees Southgate, so I phoned Cajees, but they were not the slightest bit interested in (a) listening to my story or (b) helping me trace the 'new' owner. With that I will never support Cajees EVER.
  15. A couple of times I've seen a non-cyclist type riding a red GT full susp mtb and a Fox fork makes it not a R599 Makro special
  16. www.sabiexperience.co.za Results are usually up fairly quicklyidrive2008-12-13 10:35:27
  17. Surely it isn't too difficult to find a calender for mtb races. I know there's one in Rida mag, but last year's one is not accurate. So why can't organisers have a Forum where their events can be loaded (and camcelled when they change their fujoiykin minds!!) How does one find out about events that aren't under the Cycle Lab or Entry time net? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only frstrated soul on this planet.
  18. Read what I said. The main problem, apart from it not being as good as I expected. It obviously wasn't quite finished, and yes, I was disappointed, but I will go back to see what its like when its finished. But the main problem I have is that it just isn't close enough to justify going (at the moment) - I must ride the Spruit again. I only ever been to N/Farm 4 times, and those were for races. Never been to Logwood and never been to Greonkloof. They are also too far away. I agree it's pretty flat out this way, but I can get a good workout down at Sizwe the climb out next to Dickie Fitz rd and I find Fishers Hill quite taxing. Out the back of Pomona there are some hills, but I agree, mielie field terrain isn't the best for a good workout.
  19. I agree with Vaulter ...... as for Muddee, well I'd rather not reply to the omeba! Went there during the week but I won't be back in a hurry, mainly because it took me almost an hour to get there from Edenvale and OVER two-hours to get home. 3 hrs travelling to ride for an hour!! I also thought about getting caught in the fence. This morning I rode 60km to Bapsfontein next to the railway, not very technical, but the mud made it difficult. Cost ..... NOTHING and I rode there from home where I get onto dirt 12km from my door.idrive2008-12-07 04:40:58
  20. Almost exactly two years ago I was in a car crash and it took three months before I made sense again. because I work for me, I had no income for a while and couldn't chase money owed to me. I also couldn't put any deals together for 2007 so that became a very lean year. My wife phoned everyone I owed money to and they were all very accommodating .... except ABSA who my house, car, c/card, cheque acc etc is with and I've been with them since it was Allied in the early '80s..... idrive2008-12-05 12:57:41
  21. I s'pose price will leap from R50 to R75 once the showers are up and running ...........
  22. seeing as though there've been so few responses I think it was maybe cancelled due to lack of interest........... zzzzzzz
  23. Does anyone know why it was cancelled?
  24. FECK OPUC
  25. as I said elsewhere ................. Petrol's come down so the price of bikes and milk will follow suite!!
