  1. I realise that, I ride with that bunch often and there has never been a time I've felt unsafe passing through robots. I think the last part was subjective that's all...those guys know the route well, they ride it often, the guy is from the EC, at 6 in the morning P**sed off because the guys were riding 6 abreast (the whole road), think maybe he went off on a tangent...just my opinion.
  2. Did someone get hit? How do you know the front guy took a gamble, where you riding in front with him... I understand your frustration with the bunch riding six abreast but i think the last part of your thread was a tad subjective towards the guy at the front...just my view, I wasn't there though.
  3. yup, IMO i find my basket of goods delivered from CRC to be cheaper than all other online retailers, their software is always up to date and order tracking available online, range and value are top at CRC. but as I said that's IMHO.
  4. I find Como Bike expensive, they were cheaper a while ago, but since the euro has gone mad and the pound stayed constant (losing to Dollar / Euro) and they started offering in Rands, not so enticing anymore. Total Cycling and CRC much better. Jenson and Price Point just got expensive cause of the dollar and shipping is expensive and slow. CRC 1st Place Total Cycling 2nd Place
  5. Spartan, I've ordered a number of times from CRC. Scratch on the hub must get two orders a month!!!! I ordered 3 pairs of SIDI Carbon Shoes and customs didn't pick them up so paid no duty...sometimes the government gives back. I respect stevens comments as a distributor, but the stuff I've got from CRC has always been the latest model / range. But he is correct that the sale items are generally odd sizes or older models. Check out the PRINCIPIA frames, list R26,000.00. Sale Price R9,000.00 Cheers
  6. AL, 11 for me is just right, I have a cassette that has an 11-19 with no gaps and then two climbing gears for the steepr climbs 21 & 23. I've climbed some of the biggest pyranees and Alpes on a 39 /23 so I'm satisfied with eleven speed. I love it. Now where is campag with my 11-23.
  7. Sorry, abit disappointed. All bikes are basically the same now, before I get lambasted I'll explain... Carbon Duel Sus (individual) Fox Rear Fork (Common) 80mm Front Rockshox / Fox (various common) Ritchey WCS Stem, Bar, Post Combo (common) XTR (Common) Wheels all pretty standard as well Mavic SLR / Shimano XTR, Olympic etc So the only area I see these bikes as different is in the tube shape and paint job... Wish for the days of custom builds, alas, the natural inflation of all things bicycle has destroyed this concept. I remember, (not long ago) choosing every part of my new bike, made by specialists in each catagory, now it's just off the shelf. Economies of Scale SUCK
  8. hey Dougaroony, I got mine at tony impey, so he should be able to sort you out on the east rand. Cheers
  9. Not sure on the mavics, but i've ridden adidas and they are awesome. Also been making bike shoes forever. Had the Specialized this year, road and mtb with the boa thing. MTB ones bummed out after Sani! So now I ride SIDI Eagle Carbon 6.6 and I'm very happy with them. The road ones are cool, but next year I'll ride some Genius 6.6 Carbons. SIDI just make the best shoes IMO. But I also believe it's personal, I rode DMT Road and MTB for two years and loved them so it's what you like the best that's the best buy for you.
  10. Those DMT's are the business. Would still buy SIDI but man those DMT's look wicked.
  11. I'm with the spider, BBB bought one and it's been a great purchase. Saves me time, set the torque and tighten, no more 1000000 1/4 turns!
  12. Sorry MD, but you are going to get nailed on your comments. V1's comments are valid, he is a paying customer, R50 per ride. The Bike Park is a business, not a charity. If I bought a BMW and things weren't up to my liking then...fortunately I can test drive a BMW first! If his comments were about riding up and down the spruit I would agree with you flaming him. Free open riding space, but a Park build by people to make a return on Investment, needs to take opinions of the customer and try to improve the facilty. These guys didn't build the park because they love all us mtbers, they built it to market their Brands, Toyota, MTN and CycleLab and make some money. V1 I thought your comments were valid and reasonable, now just send them to Ali Mclean and see if your comments are taken seriously.
  13. Not all service is bad in my experience. Had a crack in a system6 last week sunday, contacted Cape Cycle Systems on Monday, sent a pic through Tuesday had confirmation of Frame replacement on Wednesday and frame was shipped up to JHB on Thursday, not one phone call just email. Very Impressive. Well done Cannondale SA
  14. Porky, that welfare thing is funny...true, but funny. On importing CRC always label bicycle parts or such, so yup either you'll get checked or you won't. My stuff was stopped and fortunately I have an import licence, but if I hadn't...? I did order two mtb sets (ex frame), two record groups and a full Tandem build!
  15. Buy what you want, when you want, from where you want. If you want to pool orders you'll get screwed somewhere by someone that can't / won't pay. Warranty issues, incorrect orders blah blah blah. Who wants the hassle! CRC / Total Cycling is cheaper than LBS including Shipping and VAT. So if you want to buy from them it's the best option. LBS is great for maintenance and spares...chains, brake pads, cables (consumables really)... LBS should be happy with Labour and consumables and a smart guy would have CRC online in the shop and charge a handling fee...CRC is sometimes cheaper than from the importer, but CRC can't true my wheel! Less stock = less space / rent = lower overheads equals more profit! By the way, well done for shutting JB down...that's a first
  16. My experience, Spinnekop is right. The internal size of the chain remains the same, so Front Chainrings are not affected, Campy says different though. I wouldn't try with the rear cause your shifter and Rear der. work to move at smaller gaps at the rear, as the width of the cassette is the same as 10 speed, the cogs are the same width as well, the gaps between the cogs are spaced closer together. Hence the outer width of the Chain being slimmer, before all the comments about durability, there is a 4 year warranty from campag. So my short answer would be get another cassette.
  17. American Flyers that era would include gert jan I would assume! king of the mountains in 89, the year lemond beat fignon by 8 odd secs...yup doper!
  18. Personally, I think alot dope. Can't say all dope. But please don't think it is just the cyclist...i see a number of hubbers are unaware that it's a TEAM sport if you know what I mean! Finally, whoever didn't see Kohl, Schumacher, Ricco and Sella (Giro) as dopers in the Tours really need to wake up and smell the coffee. I don't hate the dopers cause that would mean hating racing, I just watch the sport for what it is, catching the guys is just part of the storyline during the Tour de france.
  19. You need a combination....first of all you need to take the racing to the people. No good having races out in the middle of nowhere. People create all the atmosphere. You need comentary, you need beer tents etc...Have Kermesse Racing on Sat afternoons, 45min plus a lap. Etc. Then proper Road style Races on Sunday, starting at 09.30 of 55km Loops with Climbs and Sprint hotspots. The fun Rides are killing Racing. Organisors don't want the Pro's, It costs them Money and causes hassle having to deal with the CSA. Think about it. Licensed Riders at the 94.7 maybe 2,500. Fun Riders 22,500. Do the Math. How many of you care about the Pro Result, everyone just looks at their finish time in Relation to the Winnerss.
  20. M10CW - Circuit racing brings spectators, Road Racing Doesn't, 05.30 Starts = No Spectators. Fun Rides = Fun Rides, Racing is Tough. 1 Finisher = The Winner, who cares about the TIME! Circuit Racing makes TV exposure Easier. TV Exposure Brings Sponsors. Sponsors bring Prize Money, Prize Money Drives Competition, Competition creates better Champions, Better Champions go oversees and Race against the Best Champions...Pipe Dream until someone starts planning races instead of piggy backing off the FUN RIDES. Now, anybody want to know my 94.7 time...hehe as I head for the Door.
  21. From what I saw, lewis was 1 position away from Choking...AGAIN. The 'Fool'? Massa won more Grand Prix's, The 'Fool' Kimi had the most fastest laps, and oops the other 'Fool' Alonso is rated the best driver in F1, oh ja, Massa today got Pole, Win and Fastest Lap...enjoy Lewis go wipe those skid marks off your rods...
  22. My two cents worth, Bought some Crossmax SLR's from Chain Reaction (Brilliant Price Obviously). Free Delivery in 4 days...Brilliant. CWC never has what I want, so rather shop at a really great Internet Site. Had a crash, wheels where out of true, took 'em to LBS and had a new rim fitted and wheel rebuilt, Wheels run great and the LBS scored the repair and I guess Dragon supplied the RIM (Serial Numbers, Warranty what a load of RUBBISH) I'm happy, LBS is Happy I don't care about a really poor Importer...Global Village. Personally, I love it.
  23. assumin the lions beat the sharks!
