  3. Hi, Anyone know the best place to get replacement headset bearings for a Cane Creek in Joburg? Standard size 1 - 1/8", 36' x 45'.
  4. Was your mate able to enter you as his partner? I am riding with a new partner in 2013 but had to enter with my 2012 partner details in order for the entry to be accepted.
  5. I took my bike to Linden for a pre-Sani service 2 yrs ago. Well, 30km into day 2 the rear hub bearings almost disintegrated, I had 5 oval bearings at the end of th eday and was luck to finish day 3 after a fix job by the mechanics. I took wheel back to Linden and they were a bit confused as to how/why it happened but they replaced the whole hub gratis which I was happy about. So still support them but do most of my servicing myself.

I have to second that. A school buddy of mine worked behind the Jolivet bar and he said the Adventure guys clubbed the most beers - by a long way!!!
  7. Got it off - heat and hammer.
  8. Don't use a saddle bag, just a c-bak. But only cos it all fits in? Who honestly gives a cr@p whether some other(knob) thinks you cool or not???? JUST GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY YOUR RIDE!!!
  9. Yep, I used a whole lot of copper compound.
  10. Right, took your advice, applied a bit of heat to the crank arm with a low (very low) blow tourch, secured the crank arm on a block of wood and gave the spanner a few gentle taps wih a wooden mallet. Hey presto - no more seized pedal. Thanks all for the advice!!!!!!!

  14. Puting it in a vice was going to be my last resort, but a bobejaan might be the way to go.
  15. Hmm, I have one of those, will give it a bash.
  16. Yep, got that sorted, still stuck.
  17. I need some some tips on how to unscrew a seized pedal without wrecking the wole lot. I have applied some Q20 with brute force - but maybe just not enough????? Oh, and yes I am turning it the right way - reverse thread. Any tips welcome...
  18. Bottom line - SERVICE YOUR OWN BIKE. There is plenty on The Hub and the WWW to teach you how.

This is the best way to get through the day. Maybe even slip a beer into your bottle cage - careful opening it though!
  20. Agree 100%! Honesty Respect Great service - to customers and on bikes. (being good isn't good enough) You will never compete with the likes of CRC on price but get what Chro Mo has said right and you're already 50% of the way to success. If you can get a good coffee shop to open next door then you realy onto a winner! Coffee & Cycling always agree.
  21. She may not be new but she's better than my old HT!!!!!!
  22. Oh so true!
  23. Spokes are tricky to get right. If you want expert advice give Johan Bornman from Yellow Saddle a call on 0823086847 (website: www.yellowsaddle.co.za). He is a full time bike builder / mechanic but specialises in wheel building.
  24. Only thing I can think of (which is mentioned above) is one of your pistons is jamming. Take off the whole unit, remove the pads and soak it in some warn soapy water for a half hour or so - don't undo any seals etc..... Then try brush around the pistons while pumping them out - it's a very small gap to get into. If you know somweone with an ultrasonic cleaner just pop it in there for a few mins to losen the dirt.
