  1. What ever you do DONT'T EVER buy anything on the internet from overseas with an EFT payment. Always use a Visa / Master card. If they won't accept a card for payment it is more than likely a scam.
  2. Crossmarks - my standard 'go-to' tyre for everything. Although not the lightest tyre around.
  3. Thanks, was hoping I could do that.
  4. I've seen two carbon bars fail with dire results. They may be light (and strong) but for the sake of a few 100 grams (if that) I'd stick with good old aluminium. JMO.
  5. I entered the Van Gaalens Nissan trailseeker ride but didn't tick the number board option!!!!! Can anyone tell me how I go about getting a number board? I think these are issued to individual riders to keep for all their events?
  6. So your R550 is still with JB and can be used as a deposit on a future course (that you want to do)??? What's the problem? Swallow your pride, get hold of JB and book on another weekend. Happy days.
  7. You'll learn how to do all that and more.............
  8. Been there, done that and would highly recommend it!
  9. My little beauty.
  10. Placed my first ever order with CWC yesterday at 3:03 pm - package arrived this morning at 8:55am. Holy cr@p that's good! I lived in the UK for 10 yrs and bought plenty on the internet but nothing arrived this quickly!
  11. Marko have some on special ranging from around R800 - R2,000. They're not that big but i'm sure will do fine for a bike tyre.
  12. One year ago I gave my gardener (an avid cyclist) my GT Avalanche cos I was upgrading. So I met him this morning and asked how his bike was. He said all was good and he had a new cassette and chain fitted. 'What did you put on' I asked. To which he replied the guys at the shop FPC Paulshof said he must use a XT cassette and equivalent chain cos the RD is XT!!!!!! Have you ever heard such cr@p in your life??? Here is a guy who rides for transport (not racing) and can hardly afford to put XT components on his bike (hell I think twice before shelling out for XT). All that the shop has done is F&UK him over when a chain and cassette half the price would have been just as good and probably longer wearing!!!!!
  13. Golden Rule - only ever take cash to a bike shop. Never, ever, ever take your card for backup!!!!!
  14. Crappy service (but not with FPC this time) made me do the same. Now I know my bike is 100% and my mates thow me a couple of beers to sort out their bikes as well - which is good practice.
  15. I am conctantly astounded by parents who: 1 - Let their kids ride without helmets. 2 - Don't make their kids wear seatbelts. 3 - WORST OF ALL - hold babies / small kids on their laps in the front seat of a car!!!!!! Glad to hear this kid was able to walk away with just a few dents to his bike and not his brain!
  16. The guy wants help - not a reason to stop MTB'ing!!!!! Don't let T-dawg get his claws into new guys starting out.......... Oh yeah, get youself a bike computer, nothing worse than having to rely on other guys telling you how far still to go. If you can afford a GPS one then even better.
  17. Agreed, I also feel for the thousands of commuters who have no choice but to catch a taxi and risk their lives daily.
  18. What ever you do - don't use a power spray.
  19. This is the main reason I refuse to ride a road bike. What a waste!!! I'm willing to bet that taxi animal would do it again without a second thought.

    Injury Advice

Grab youself some Arnica Ice gel, I get it from a farmes Co-op but Dischem also stock it - don't be put off by the horse, it's safe for human use and my sports massager swears by it (as do I). Apply at night before bed and you'll beel an improvement in no time.
  21. I'm afraid you got me there, I have no idea????? I managed to pick up a couple at Linden for R55 each so happy with that.
  22. I dropped in on LC yesterday just to get some bearings (so cheap stuff) and the guys were cool. I find the only time you wait for service there is on a Saturday morning when the place is heaving.
  23. Cheers, will do.
  24. Anyone know the best place to get replacement headset bearings for a Cane Creek in Joburg? Standard size 1 - 1/8", 36' x 45'.
