  8. But there isn't snow in the north island yet .... and maybe only one/two place(s) running now in the south (made snow)... Assume you planning a holiday down south when you get there, otherwise how did you get to making that choice? https://www.facebook.com/mtruapehu/?fref=ts
  9. I do not know how many here can remember the story I posted about Franky being lost in Bushmans for 2.5 weeks (7 months ago) and then just pitching up in the middle of town one day again.....well he is all loved and healthy again I love this dog so much, he is HUGE but so kind and caring. It is amazing how he is around us and how he plays with the 2 other little sausage dogs (he somehow never hurts them). Edit: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/108258-show-us-your-pets/?p=2713760

  12. Sheesh thats cool...from where to where do you guys commute? Nice group to do that with too!
  13. I don't agree. It also increase if one (I for sure) is more stressed - and not referring to riding effort. I can feel my heart rate goes up when I am on the lowers, more so around other people and it is because I am not use to it and I feel twitchy and hence get stressed. It has gotten better over the last couple of months for sure with more time spent down there, but it is still there.
  14. So are all the hubbers in NZ planning a weeks riding trip to Queenstown in December?

  16. Oh ja, I did an online application. They don't always need to submit your passport, sometimes one gets submitted a separate page (seems like this is the norm with online applications) which you just carry with your passport then (Patches has one like this)

  18. Did you send them your passport? If so, when did they request that?
  19. I have never raced (or trained) in a team, so maybe the pro's here can give some comments on my thoughts below so I can know for the future.... So I was thinking during my long ride this past weekend (which I actually struggled with more than the Maluti route...due to poor week day training for sure) that if I was racing in a team that I would let the 'weaker riders' do all the work for the 1st 126km, protecting maybe 3 or 4 of the strongest riders. I would let them hide in the bunch all the way, saving all their energy up until the team gets into the Golden Gate (maybe even a bit further in). That is where a team will need 'fresh legs' to keep the average speed up. The team is big enough so the riders that did work would not be TOO tired to fall in behind these guys pace now. Is/would this be typically something teams will do?
  20. Unfortunately I have to wear a compression shock on my one leg (medical conditions) so it leaves me with this 'even worse' tan...
  21. Ah thanks. It was spent doing nothing other than NZ moving planning (packing and packing lists etc) I like this... https://at.govt.nz/cycling-walking/auckland-cycle-run-walkway-maps/
  22. I get worried when I see things like this: Online e-Visa Application Received: Hayley Adamson That is not my name I hope they get it right when they issue the Visa (I double checked now and on the system they have the right/full name) I once was almost not allowed to board a plane because they name on my ID and the name on the ticket was not the same, on the ticket it was missing the "-" between the Hayley and Ann.....and it was actually their ticket system that didn't allow other characters than alphabetic ones.
  23. At 1st I was like "damn this guy rides a lot"... Then I looked at the side by side comparison ... Thanks for sharing. I'll spy a bit
  24. It does look nice and hillllllly out there..haha I was just scoping to see for like a 40km before work morning rides loop.
  25. I hope you havent voted for that 30km/h ...... I will never be able to visit! The NZ pigs got me last time already and posted me a pic of myself with demands of having some of my Rands...I think I will have to stick to my bike more than a car over there
