  1. The heavy road rider will always be disadvantaged to the lighter road rider, because: it is easier for the lighter rider (70kg) to stay with the heavier rider (90kg) on the downhills or flats using his slipstream than it is for the heavier rider to stay with the lighter rider on the climbs.
  2. There are plenty of utilities available that can reset the Windows administrator password in less than 60 seconds and gain access to your data. Better option like you said is to encrypt your documents with TrueCrypt.
  3. RAI channel 430 on DSTV.
  4. Some cycling accessories are way cheaper at SW than my LBS. For example: The Giant gel cork handlebar tape is R80 at SW and R120 at my LBS.

  6. A fusion of carbon fiber and 2014 aluminium alloy that gives the perfect blend of strength, stiffness.

  9. Did send a PM to the CWC staff. Just wanted to warn other forum members to be careful until the problem has been resolved.
  10. Hope something can be done about this before it is too late.
  11. An unlucky MTBer nearly got run over by a speeding construction car on the CWC MTB track today. He was coming down the blind drop (marked with red X) when the car was suddenly in front of him. Was too late to snap a picture of this. CWC Staff: Can you please look into this. The problem is due to a construction site at Tyger Falls, but instead of trucks and cars using the dirt road (marked with green arrow) they take a shortcut over the grass area (marked with maroon arrow). Can some poles or blockades be put at the purple lines to prevent the vehicles from taking the shortcut and endangering the cyclists. You can clearly see the speeding truck taking the shortcut on the second photo.
  12. It looks pretty bland to me. Especially since it's supposed to be from a designer and supposed to "look cool".
  13. Quote by Cancellara: "I had lactic acid coming out of my ears". Source - http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cancellara-pipped-at-milan-san-remo Almost as classic as the "Shut up legs" comment from Jens Voigt: http://bicycling.com/blogs/hardlyserious/2011/06/28/talking-back/
  14. I honestly and sincerely think the reason why the empty packet is littered is because of the mess the empty packet makes, like others mentioned above. Imagine you have two energy gels in your pocket, after using the first one and storing it the second one will be a royal mess with sticky gel all over your hands. Or storing the discarded gel in the wrong pocket and it leaks all over your mobile phone etc. Take away all of the negative aspects of storing the empty packet and then the incentive not to litter will be greater. Problem solved!
  15. Walkerr - Did you watch the video? You put the energy gel inside the bottle at home. Nothing to discard on the road or mess up your cycling jersey pockets.
  16. What about something like the gel-bottle: http://www.hydrapak....product=2479675 http://images-cdn.ecwid.com/images/228081/7028532.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CytHDGTWwNo
  17. Also too many tandems in the alphabet soup. Why can't they have a "social tandem group" in addition to the "racing tandems".
  18. There is a big development planned for the area in 2014: http://www.capetownmagazine.com/news/New-Look-for-Bellville-Velodrome/10_22_11674 http://www.futurecapetown.com/post/3401628827/multi-billion-rand-bellville-velodrome-galleria-project "enhancements to the Velodrome and athletic track ... Devmet Property Developments will also take over the management of the Velodrome and athletic stadium." Seems like the Velodrome and athletic track will be upgraded and not scrapped.
  19. PPA's response: http://www.pedalpowe...a-ppa-response/ "The minutes of the Meeting of 18 February 2012 reflect that PPA has 17990 individual members, which is 53.53% of all the individual cyclists who are members of cycling organisations affiliated to CSA. The votes allocated to PPA was 15 out of 83, which is only 18%." "Since the 2004 Constitution was adopted, the PPA has paid the following amounts to CSA, for which it has received little or no benefit: 1. Initially, when CSA did not have any funds, PPA undertook and paid for the salary of CSA’s employees for a period of two years. The amount paid to CSA in this regard totalled R551 000; 2. Calendar fees of R43 115; 3. Membership levies of R2 128 087; 4. PPA has collected and paid to CSA day license fees of R66 416." "The 2012 Constitution voting provisions are undemocratic. It provides for one vote per member for each of the Provincial Members. This means that Northern Cape with 98 members has the same voting powers as Western Cape, having 552 members plus PPA’s 17990 members." Summary: CSA wants all the power and money...
  20. The first 5km of the route always kills me. Will try a warm-up this time around. The start time of the 94km is at 6:05am. I was late for two years in a row. So a friendly suggestion - leave 30mins earlier than you planned. Looks like there will be a gusty 20km/h SE blowing according to WindGuru.
  21. Don't worry - it comes like that from the manufacturer. See the specs below: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/tcr.composite.1/9007/48839/ Also like that on the TCR Advanced 2011 model that costs $3200: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/tcr.advanced.1/7309/44336/
  22. Seems like the new TheHub website template is hammering the MySQL database. Get a database developer to optimise the connectins. Also look at caching plugins.
  23. Rather get the Look Keo Classic: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/look-keo-classic-pedal-graphite * Free cleats and delivery.
  24. Well done Burry - in a league of his own! Was hectic to see the bunch start approach the first bottleneck bend at the corner of the shopping centre - one guy went straight over his handlebars and two others got pushed off the track.
