  1. Well done Burry - in a league of his own! Was hectic to see the bunch start approach the first bottleneck bend at the corner of the shopping centre - one guy went straight over his handlebars and two others got pushed off the track.
  2. I recced the route Saturday but nearly died of the heat - so the earlier your start time the better.
  3. Awesome pics Ronelle!
  4. Venue for the Cape Town courses?
  5. On the way back from Killarney yesterday there was a cyclist knocked down on Plattekloof road opposite Panorama Hospital - anybody with more details?
  6. Continental Race 28 Supersonic = 50grams http://www.conti-online.com/generator/www/de/en/continental/bicycle/themes/tires/tubes/race/race_en.html
  7. Apart from some bruises and missing skin he is fine. The carbon top tube of his Giant TCR Advanced cracked again where it was repaired previously. Apparently somebody came across his line on the back straight of the last lap and took out his front wheel - but I suppose that is racing. He is in JHB till Friday but is confident he will be riding again this weekend. Best of luck to him - his car was also stolen at the "Journey for Sight" two weeks ago.
  8. Read this interesting article: Campagnolo - The Italian Job http://www.bicycling.com/print/56888
  9. According to the PedalPower website: http://www.pedalpower.org.za/blog/news/herman-fouche-wins-die-burger-cycle-tour/ Stellenbosch High School played host to the fifth Die Burger Cycle Tour. David Bellairs, CEO of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, said the event was a great success. "Due to the intense heat today, we decided on an additional water point with extra ice for riders. As a result everyone enjoyed the day, despite the heat, and by 12h00 there were only 100 riders out on the route."
  10. CWC Online: May I suggest a new feature for your online store. With the new stock arriving in containers and pallets, why don't you add a section to your website like "New Arrivals" so that everybody can see what is new. The Cyclelab store has this: http://www.cyclelab.com/Products/New%20Arrivals.aspx
  11. I do not agree - this thread was started with the statement "Anybody stunned by the lack of motorcycle marshaling on yesterdays's Die Burger 92KM? I was in group A, not a single marshal with us." The marshals do their best to care for the safety of cyclists at no reward, but more often than not get negative statements and comments written about them. A photo of a bunch spread across a non-closed road will show sympathy to what the Think Bike marshals must content with. We are quick to have negative things to say about marshals but never about ourselves the cyclists.
  12. MiShaDo - thanks for the excellent job you guys are doing. Much appreciated. Really thought that all your expenses like petrol etc were at least covered. IMHO Die Burger is too big to control without full road closures. Another forum member mentioned a Think Bike marshal taking photos of white line transgressors in the $/% bunches. Any chance that you can post these pictures.
  13. New York bicycle lane fine and crashes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzE-IMaegzQ
  14. Try to avoid the road (R304) past Kayamandi Township. Many cyclists have been bikejacked and robbed there. The Burger 92km road race is Sunday 4 December: http://www.dieburgercycletour.co.za/
  15. What about the new Garmin Edge 200 ($150) that you can share between MTB and roadbike. The box contains two bike mounts and there is no speed sensor (calculated via GPS) so it can easily be shared without changing settings etc. Full review: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2011/08/garmin-edge-200-in-depth-review.html
  16. BigBen - nice clue! It's a Powertap power meter hub: http://cycling.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Meters
  17. Would not recommend anyone to have a massage a day or two before the DC... "This gives ample time to get over the legginess (heavy legs after a massage) that is typically experienced after a deep tissue treatment." http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/03/when-to-get-a-massage/ The same applies to nutrition, energy gels etc - do not try anything new on race day.
  18. Morewoodmad: what's the use of this rant if you don't mention the team!
  19. Does the crank have a 30mm or 24mm spindle diameter? What is the inside diameter of the frame bottom bracket shell?
  20. Lesson to learn: do not accept SMS, e-mail, fax, letter or call from bank as proof of payment.
  21. Have a look at the exercises from Lance Armstrong's strength coach, Peter Park: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJ80bV6FJ-o The Peter Park Youbtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/MTSLanceArmstrong
  22. Cool track in my backyard. Easy to combine this with Majick Forest which is about 1km away.
  23. What about the Argus vs Stage 18 of the 2011 TdF:
  24. RIP. Don't understand why they had to collect seawater when there is a shower/tap and bathroom right next to the beach.
