  1. An interesting article in the TdF magazine compares roads in SA to those in Europe. It seems that we just don't have tarred roads with the length and incline of those in Europe. If I remember correctly Sani Pass' if it was tarred would be a Cat 1 climb.Drove up Franschoek and Bainskloof passes just last week.Beautifull and steep for an amateur like myself and I would love to ride them. Maybe it has to do with logistics and sponsorships due to fewer numbers entering if the distances are too long.
  2. Phew ,pleased it wasn't started by Scott, Harry, Imraan and Tommy.
  3. My question is exactly the same.Saw a cannondale SL 2 for R 8000-00 at Tour de Frans.R 500-00 goodies thrown in. SLX XT.Looking to start out in MTB, I'm not too bothered with the tech stuff.(My roadbike is a pretty basic Raleigh RC 3000 that has served me well for six years) So many models and opinions to compare can be quite daunting.
  4. I also don't like spam ,but what about these reminders of races to enter for etc ? Last week I received an sms from an incurance co that had given me a raw deal before. Opted out,This week from Tour de Frans. I went and checked it out. Cannondale SL 2 SLX ST for R 8000-00 plus R 500-00 goodies thrown in.
  5. Vasbyt FRAIL.Keep safe.Hope you're sleeping allright.
  6. How about it guys from Winburg and Potties there must be someone with a place for Frail to sleep.Looking at the weather its going to get pretty cold. Frail, were looking out for you up here. Edit:Also Laingsburg
  7. Sonstraalhoogte is jy ernstig?Hier by ons is alles Casa dit en Villa dat en niemand weet wat dit beteken nie. Sorry spinning, kan nie help nie. Edit:Ook maar nog nuut hier . Welkom
  8. Can agree with Ledzep & Stones. I Wonder if any will remember Hocus Pocus by Focus .Great fun piece of rock nonsense from the 70's used by Nike (I think) during the 2010 World Cup.50-60 age groupers unite!
  9. My sympathy and pleased injuries weren't too serious.I had a look on the website.Picture on home page makes it look like a no no for normal tar roads with cars. All pictures are in rural settings.Recommends rides in forests etc etc.(They do say this with the paws in mind. But still....) Also riding with a dog could leave you more prone to lapses in concentration as well as weaving, because of the low speeds. The road is dangerous enough without any distractions. Im not critisising, just an opinion. After all I may be the next guy to be clipped.
  10. So feeling better can make you go faster. My wife says sometimes after an altercation with motorists, that I should rinse with soap. Another way of improving your time is to promise to be home at 9h30 for church. The group for some reason leaves 10 min late..... On the same site an article with the view that ordinary sugary drinks (as opposed to low GI DURING the event) is still the best option. And that all the hype about spiking is not correct.
  11. Did my 1st one 2010 on very little training. Entered for this year .Although the vibe and experience is totally different, for me it rates with Argus.I'm still trying to figure out what hurt most: the 8 km climb at the start or that little bugger of a hill about halfway through the last stage.
