  1. Last boring stat I promise. Mapping riding temps per week, you can sort off have a band of temps and where winter is starting and where the good "mild" rides start after winter. Obviously riding different times of the day influences the stats but you get a broad idea over time I.e week 18-20 temps drop and week 23-25 temps start going back up.
  2. CTL per week. I road indoor every day during the full lock down.........amazing to see how the fitness came down...... Also....in 2019 cracked my elbow.....took 20+ weeks to get back on some form.
  3. I store all my stats on excel yes. Would be a cool function from Strava to add on there, yes.
  4. Strava says 168 355m So not so much as I wanted but good enough for the highveld. I try to keep it at 3000m per week. Another cool stat: I map each week that I have been sick for the past 10 years. You can see then by way of pattern what weeks are "dangerous" and you can try and avoid people and germs and etc etc. Week 6-9 and week 31-34 are danger zones.......
  5. I am a bit of a sock slut............something "cheap" to buy and color up your next ride........ I might have two containers full of socks..............😆 Design / graphics is 20% Material is 80%. ASG/Ftech had good designs and good materials. Then they got sloppy.....started making socks smaller and they did not last that long anymore. Versus are too thick for me and the material too warm Socks are good. But the sets you get "free" with your race goody bags etc, tend to sag or wear out quickly. Their "HTFU technology" socks are good. Last long. Nice length and tend to be not too warm. Best socks I own are MB Wear: https://wearmb.com/en/ Hell of a lot expensive but after 10 years I still have 4 pairs that lasts. Nice thin. Good material. Cool.
  6. Smurfy ride in Pretoria in December. Best place to do it IMO
  7. Misty ride out East of Pretoria.
  8. Because Fridays are Z1 compulsary. Also........ coffee.
  9. "So.....bru......I hear you are a cyclist?" "Yah........sure.......I did the August in March this year" "Way out bru........so like.......what was your time and that?" "Like.......you carrent belief.......1:30 bru" "No way" "Way"
  10. You can have the best marshals in the world. Slow teams are going to occupy the whole left lane. They don't think (or care in SA) about racing. Fast riders will go like maniacs and shout and scream and swear an pass dangerously. Swearing like what I've heard that day from teams passing us............"bringing the sport in disrepute" would be that "better marshal's" conclusion. Also crossing the white line. DQ the top 5 teams sommer before the start and spare some expensive petrol. The "better marshal" will not be able to DQ the slow teams.......they are just prodding along left side. The racing screamers will have the short stick of justice Top 10 start front. They can do their sub 5s in relative peace and only have to swear at tannies next to the road drinking coffee to close to their egos. Rest of the folks in reverse order. Just my 2c.
  11. Pretoria mornings

  13. This. 👆 I have the same experience. Run 45 on Giro and Gearne. Sidi sometimes 46 depending on what model......but I have not bought Sidis in the past 5 years.
  14. Get decent insoles and your support will always be the same.
  15. Tuesday Club ride in the Highveld.
  16. *pending FDA approval. Hahhahahahah. 😆
  17. I think there are only a handful (2-3) races in Gauteng that still uses Racetech? I race Rooiwal in the North of Pretoria once a year to keep up the seeding should I win the lotto and wish to go ride the August in March.
  18. They should be forced [for the lack of a better word] to sell their "seeding data" to the ORGANISER. The organiser pays them for the services which includes the RESULTS. The results then gets sent to "The Central Cycling Database" by the ORGANISER. Timing Co. can still make their pound of flesh. But......looking at the dwindling numbers in road racing in SA.......... I doubt if we will see anything happen soon. I think it is a dying sport in SA. Very sad state of affairs........
  19. Jared got away at Kyalami. Super stong! I got a gap 8km to go. Held the bunch off. Just. Photo looks 5 seconds? Think at the speeds we were going it was like 1 second.
  20. Quick boring analysis between this year and last year on the same route. 2021 Vets racing (VC) 2:38 - Top 10 finish 2022 Open seeded A 2:29 - Top 10 finish On the power graph, 2022 (purple) the accelerations in A were harder (more watts). Mainly I think it's because you race against young guys. As for the time. You can see that the first half, the speed in the A group this year were MUCH faster than last year's Vets. So the time was made up there. Second half the speeds correlate plus minus with the Vets climbing the hills a little faster. The once BIG difference I saw was that last year's avg temp was 14 degrees and this years 20 Matches TSS Kj NP Avg Watts Avg HR Avg Cadence 2021 43 287 2334 299 245 153 86 2022 44 250 2161 299 238 153 84
  21. Well............you say that......... I've done 14x 94.7 in the Vets bunches. And with the 94.7, the prize money for the A is just as much as any Vets bunch. It's not about time. It's about who crosses the line first. With A bunch this year........racing was just fast. The only difference I could see between open seeded and Vets racing was that with the Vets you have a LOT of negative tactics with teams who try and control tactics and then the rest of the guys without teams just give up trying to do something about it.
  22. Go to Sabie. Go do 3000m+ climbing in one day. Then repeat it the next day. You'll hate me on the weekend and thank you later.
  23. Was in the Blue Clover kit.
  24. Thank you sir. ☺️ Very proud of the time. Beat almost all the Vets batches. 😎
  25. Pros: Great race. Goeie gees Route was safe and fun and challenging. Nice Medal Good waterpoints. Race organisation in general was good. Race number pickups on the morning before the race. Cons: Traffic control into the venue was a joke. N17 was closed at 4:45 already when we arrived forcing all the Pta traffic through the South entrance (If I did not have a GPS handy I would have been ($#$#%*)) 4 lanes turning into a single lane. Fun Seeding was poorly done Race start was late Prize giving was late Diet Coke at the finish. 🤮 The timing company can do better software. All in all an awesome day out on the bike. Bring on #23
