  1. Set watch to auto stop and start. That way you'll always know how long you are out RIDING your bike. The only place where auto start/stop won't play nice is if you are doing timed events and you chase a certain goal wrt time. (As Ryan pointed out above)
  2. Just putting it out there........... Black lycra lasts WAY longer than any other color lycra. Or so I have been told by a manufacturer. Any truth in this? It will explain why black is more preferred than color?
  3. Was thinking exactly that. 😁 My poor 50w does not make a dent.........
  4. Interesting. Touch wood............. Since 1997: 310,715km done - MTB and road, Sanis, Epic, W2W, Augusts and loads of training. Only once have I ever needed one. I count myself then VERY lucky.
  5. Weird question......... Do you use the chainbreaker?
  6. Derailleur hanger tight? Check link on chain that is tight? Through axel greased?
  7. Ah yes....forgot to mention. Yes, correct. Road bike. 99% dry riding weather. For the MTB and the Gravel bike I go to Smoove. It just lasts longer (if applied correctly) than the other stuff that I have tried. Again........for the MTB, most riding done in dry dusty environment.
  8. I've pretty much tried everything and anything. Expensive. Cheap. For me personally: I hate dirt - so I do dry chain lube (the motor oils are VERY dirty and tend to splatter if you go high cadence and you ALWAYS put too much on because its just runny) I hate spending time on the bike (although I always do spend loads of time) - so I stay away from squirt and Rock n Roll gold (the last about 150-200km for me) I don't like a squeak on my bike For me, I use Smoove or Rohloff. Runs clean. Apply once every week and last around 300-400km. Also, the chains tend to last longer when running clean without clog and grime.
  9. There is a bit of HEAVY science involved with chain lube. If you are really interested, go dig some here: https://cyclingtips.com/2018/03/fast-chain-lube-that-saves-you-money/ https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/ https://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=139970&hilit=chain+lubricant Friction loss. How long it lasts on the chain. How long the chain lasts How dirty the chain gets. Wet vs dry conditions. It's a big worm hole with pros and cons from various lubes.
  10. Switched BB axel length to do a 1x Cannondale SISL2 cranks with a P2M powermeter and 12sp Garbaruk 46 chainring. Flawless. Can keep up with the roadies on a Sunday ride and not too bad gearing for Pretoria farm roads. I think one might battle a little with something like a 8% gradient for longer than 30min climb.
  11. Been having fun on this lady for the past couple of months. Not a bad bike at all!
  12. Jy't daai bike in stukke in geval!!!!!!!!!!! 😁 Not good news. Sorry Oom Ben. Good luck with the healing up!
  13. What is this Double Century thing? And who is Pure Savage? Who would call their child that? Ag nee sies man.
  14. Bibs: Ciovita. By far. Saddle: Measure yourself and then decide. Selle Italia and Fabric are good - not so expensive - choices.
  15. Some made it their desktop background. 👌
  16. It's never over. Take a minute back in the next 3 days over the high mountains. Take the rest back on the last TT.
  17. One calendar month at a time from all that I read. They currently have a "special" where they charge you R689 (I think) for the first 3 months. I will just cancel after the first month and be done with it.
  18. Switched DSTV online on for a month. Will cancel as soon as the Tour is over. If GCN+ did stream in SA, that would have been my preferred route. I HATE DSTV.

  20. As you were..........
  21. Sweis bril. Drill holes in the bottom - "ventilated"
  22. Put a buff on and you could be a time trialer
  23. Have been running OrangeSeal since April 2021 and have put in around 20 000km. Zero punctures that I know off in Pretoria roads doing around 1200km a month. In the past I would have had around 4-6 punctures every year? If lucky. Till date, on the tubeless tyres, only one bad cut which I repaired roadside with a dynaplug. Held around 1000km and it came out again. Replaced the tyre.
  24. What's the alternative?
