  2. Hey guys. So I've been looking around and saving up for a cool year end project. I have a fe ideas so far : 1. A Fixed gear with a rear disc to ride with the Hipsters in Cape Town. 2. CX bike ( liking this so far ) 3. Monster CX bike 4. BMX bike ( a bit too mainstream ) So, anybody doing any projects so far? What and how ? And any suggestions? Thanks Guys
  3. Hey Guys. Would just like to ask on which site could I find the "Chinerlello" ( Pinarello) frame. Thanks!
  4. Hey guys! I love the look of deep dish wheels and disc wheels. Anyway I have a fixe project coming up, which also will be posted on the hub, and after seeing the all those hipsters overseas riding zipp and hed discs on the streets, why cant I? Well unfortunately I cant afford one. ( makes me wonder how they do it? Drugs? ) I've been a fan of this site for quiet a while, there are plenty of bike related stuff to build if your a handy with you...uhm well...hands. So heres the thread to make a disc : http://www.instructables.com/id/Aerodynamic-Wheel-Disks---For-your-Bike Was thinking along the same lines but building a super cheap rear wheel just in case. I would prefer a better finish. Like fiber glassine the disc on the rim and using body filler to get that all important perfect finish. A black spray job to top it all off, maybe even a silly hipster decal or two? So guys any suggestions or tips? Especially with the use of fiber glass, and where to get a thin plastic sheet like the one used above ('I am in the kzn area). I've worked with body filler before, but I am always open to tips. Keen too see if anyone has tried this before too.

  14. looks awesome!!!!
  15. This is awesome, great to see someone doing this in SA. Can't wait to see the end result
  16. Not an ss rider, but does having an oval chainblade help with hills?
  17. That ibis is a beauty
  18. And @firemeister
  19. @Berg Bok To normally fit a frame, you step over the top tube with your sit bone (ass) against the nose of the saddle, there must atleast be a 2 finger space between your cruch and top tube, this is incase you fall, that you don't "bangkok" yourself. If you think logically you are 3 inches above the ground, therefore a smaller frame size is needed. Now you've been schoold I hope you further pass this knowledge one...
  20. 29er rule: always go one size smaller from your 26" rig. There are some exceptions, such as the giant xtc29er and its "compact" frame design.
  21. Okay, I'll try do justice... Firstly a dual sus, which you can see all over the mtb scene in SA) makes use of links and pivots and a rear shock (air or spring) to create suspension on the rear half of the bike. (NB - with this system you get unwanted "peddle-bob" which causes a loss of power whilst pedal, systems have been invented to eliminate this, such as Giants's Maestro system) However... A "Soft-tail" has no pivots or linkages, rather "flexy" chain stays. And behind the seatpost tube on the frame is like a little piston connected to the seat stays which absorbs bumps and shocks. A million eye-spy points if you've ever spotted one in SA. Hopefully I did this thread justice. Someone please correct me if need be for the greater good of letting people know the differance
  22. Anybody purchases one so far? If so, how is it? What did you pay(if you don't mind) and would you post a pic of it? Really keen to get one, been riding raleighs since I was a child, was really sad what Probike did to the brand in SA, the RC's are now worth gold.
  23. Picked up a new issue of Thread magazine, awesome article explaing the differance between a dual suspension and softail. A while back when I tole my mate the differance he laughed at me and said " how can a softail work if the stays are fixed with no pivots". He's one of those "know-it-all" kinda guys. Now I can laugh in his face.
  24. Any car wash (a cheap bottle of "Viking" from game). Green clean for degreasing,my pressure cleaner, and elbow grease. Then a finish with a prefered car wash. Used to take up to 3 hours to wash my bike (yes I am one of those okes) now takes about an hour and a half with my pressure cleaner.
  25. Anyone know where I can get this in kzn? Stuff is great for frames apparently
