  2. the thing inside your shorts that keeps yout butt comfy is a CHAMOIS, not a shammy
  3. We went to just north of Roslyn in PTA yesterday for a Karate comp. The car temp showed 39DEg from sitting the sun and got down to 36 when driving !!! was cooking inside the hall.
  4. Hey J, how R U + other J, How is the weather there, just been watchin some Winter olympics from Vancouver
  5. At 97 kg NO you wont master the hills !! I am taller, by a small bit, than you and my fighting weight is 82kg, 5% body fat, and I still get left behind on the hils. Choose your races carefully, Race the flat ones and train on the hilly ones.
  6. Pepermint oil, the pansies at the track use it when warming up. Supposed to open the nasal passages, sort of like sniffing one of those Vicks things. Funny thing is that when exercising you breath almost exclusively (99.99999%) through your mouth ...... The best use for a Nose Flare is when you are sleeping, then having your nose a bit more open will allow you to breath easier.obree2010-02-14 04:38:57
  7. Just take a MTB stem and flip it over
  8. try this
  9. it already slopes down !! turn it around and you'll see it slope up. You want one that slopes down even more. Guys use them on track bikes.
  10. The further away from the hub you move the lower the torque, but higher the speed. So you need more force to stop a smaller disc than a bigger one. But the bigger one is going faster. Look at a wheel magnet, does the same revolutions if it is placed at the hub or at the nipple.
  11. I'm gonna get all my Harley mates to ride that route on their harleys this sunday, take up the whole road, reving their hogs. Tattoos and rings everywhere!! Not one single motorist will say a word !! The will just calmly drive behind them !!!
  12. I got a mail informing me of this event, then asked CGC to put out a list of persons getting awards, so we could decide wheter to go or not. Nothing received to date, so we did not go.
  13. I am 1.91m and ride with 200mm cranks on the road and track Check out www.zinncycles.com for equipment for taller guys. Remember cycling is for the average sized person and not tall guys, who should be playing basketball, hence the manufacturers make equipment that they will sell the most of. If all cyclists were 1.9m and taller there would be plenty of manufacturers that made cranks 200mm and longer ...
  14. Have a look at www.outwet.it We import these shirts and the warm weather ones works great. They look like the old string vest Gramps used to wear. They basically keep your shirt away from your skin, so the air can flow. Lots of Euro pros wear them. But nothing is magic and you wont find any garment that will suddenly make you not get hot whilst riding in conditions of high humidity !!
  15. I have a brand new set of Reynolds DV Carbon clinchers for sale R10 000.00 Campy body. The finish of Reynolds does look a bit dull,as they sell the wheels as they come out the mould, no coat of glossy paint to cover up all the blemishes.
  16. As you know I stay at the bottom for the pursuit, 97 - pedalling at 109rpm
  17. try zinncycling.com lenard Zinn is almost 2m tall race for USA national team, coached by Eddie B, so he knows a thing or 2. There is info there on calculating crank length
  18. This has been discussed many times before, it depends on whether you are a fun rider or serious racer. Fun rider - longer will make no difference at all. Racer - 1% imrovement can be the difference between winning or not. I am 1.9m and use 200mm cranks, road and track, I can spin at 108 for an hour on the IDT, so no problem with spinning as many will say.
  19. Wait till it comes flying past you in a TT .......
