  1. Use it or lose it !! I did not do any threshold work from Jan till June, as I was training for the track pursuit. FTP went from 370 down to 320 today. I sacrificed FTP for 5min peak power. obree2007-05-31 08:16:50
  2. The key is even tension, only can really be checked by a tensiometer, not by plinging the spokes !!!
  3. Yes anyone can build a wheel, its building it correctly and so it lasts thats the key ....
  4. I do, but will confirm withhim if he wants his number on here ...
  5. How much do you want to spend on building ? Cos a good builder will charge R250 to build a wheel.......
  6. Unless your top is as tight as your lycra shorts, its not skin tight.... There are some Euro companies that are starting to make "skin tight" cycling tops for this very same reason, more aero being another
  7. The are really neat to use when riding the indoor trainer, you dont have to constantly wipe with a towel, as long as you use a fan
  8. Used by lots of athletes, including rugby. With a bare torso the evaporation is limited to the area from whence the perspiration is exiting the skin ie mostly arm pits www.linebreak.com.au
  9. The garments work by dissipating your perspiration over a larger area, thereby increasing the area that is cooled by the evaporation process. these work best when tight like the Linebreak compression garments. They are obviously dependant on air flowing over the garment.
  10. Rider weight limit 84Kg
  11. check out www.lewracing.com 880gm tubular wheel set !!! clincher version to follow soon, 950gm. Makes all those light weight 1100gm wheels look like heavy weights.......
  12. Join Bikemaxpower.co.za get a decent program and start improving your threshold power. Indoor type training is perfect for this as you can mainain a steady power output for the entire duration. No trafic lights, dogs, taxis etc

  14. You need to have them rebuilt by a decent wheel builder, a good builder will charge +- R200.00 to rebuild, excl spokes. I weigh 90Kg and have never broken a spoke in 5 years. The key to a good wheel is even spoke tension, something you cannot measure with just pulling the spokes....obree2006-11-02 00:19:03
  15. Trackie, if you want to get any Corima stuff look at their website, you can buy directly from them at reasonable prices. Lower, I would imagine than from the SA distributor..... but maybe not
  16. They have an advert in one of the latest SA mags, Ride or Bicycling.
  17. One of the best cyclists the past decade, Chris Boardman, was coached by Peter Keen, who had never ridden a bicycle in his life !!! He just applied simple scientific principles to training and got results!! The CV of your coach makes no difference, its the results of the riders you should be asking about.
  18. A very good point, if you are the type of rider that sits in the bunch, does no work and tries to win the sprint, any strong wheel will do. If you try to get in a break, or break away yourself, a good aero wheel will help. Otherwise you are buying them for the bling value only!!! Rather spend your moner on a good power meter, train properly and then you will be faster without the fancy stuff, imagine how that will make all those people feel that spent all their money on wheels !!!!!!
  19. Forget both, go for Reynolds www.reynoldscycling.com
  20. Go for a set of Velocity deep V rims, 3 cross both front and rear, tied and soldered on the rear. I weigh 85kg had a set of these built up about 3 years ago and still going strong. When you weigh anything over 80kg you are only fooling yourself with lightweight stuff, rather go for strength. I use the best wheel builder in Gauteng, PM me and i'll give you his details
