I am certain Pilditch in PTA have the same situation, contact Sheldon Bole. Track cycling got some Loto money many years ago and this was use for the rental/loaner/try out track bikes at all tracks
  7. Ch 501 DSTV in Portugese 16h00 everyday
  8. Just remove the freehub body and clean all the grease out of it, then put a light oil inside and you too can anoy those riding with you, with the loud clicking noise your freehub now makes
  9. All depends on how fast you want to go.......100w will get you over the top in about 3 days.....480w for 10 min is a lot!! TP weighs about 78 from looking at his tall lanky figure. so 6.15w/kg World class!!
  10. Good indoor trainer
  11. Tried to get hold of the agents today, was informed Probike are now new agents, Just thought I would post info here for all to see. www.probike.com Brandon Els 083 458 5552
  12. Tubby Virgin - What to look out for and learn >>> look out for glass and thorns, learn to ride around them
  13. Hey SV No scientific base at all, Its just something I have noticed with the guys I coach and looking around when riding. FastTwitchers also pedal slower than SlowTwitchers. You may find you do have a bigger % of FT muscles, but have never developed them. I used to believe I could never spin so I started concentrating on it, for track racing, now I can do 60min on the IDT at 120rpm easily.
  14. What info did they give you? Max HR,LT ? Do the test with your HR monitor and base the zones on that info. There is an overlap of zones so if the result is not 100% accurate it does not matter as the zone will cover it. ie my FTP is 300w so zone 4 will be from 90% -105% 270w - 315w If I go to the Uni and do a test on their equipment, pay R1000.00 for the 1 hour session and get a result of 310w (perhaps due to the added adrenalin from doing the test in front of someone). Now my zone 4 is 279w - 325w See the overlap!! The bottom line is do a test of sorts, then base your zones on this info, train, do exactly the same test in 1 month, see the improvement.
  15. The problem with us cyclists is we like to spend lots of money and use hi-tech equipment. Thats the reason its nice to go somewhere to have things measured, plus we get to tell all our mates. I have had all these tests done at the University, Conconi,LT, V02Max. The resulting training zones are exactly the same as when I do a 20min test myself.
  16. A simple 20min field test will give you a very good indication of your threshold, then base zones on this data and do the appropriate sessions to improve. When you test at a facility, your monthly test must also be done at the same facility, so its an ongoing expense. An easy way to find out if you have fast or slow twitch muscles is to look at the calves, big calves= fast twitch. What sport did you do at school? Long distance or sprints? You would at that young age naturally excell in the event that your muscle type is appropriate for. After doing a muscle biopsy and finding out you have fast twitch are you going to suddenly switch and become a track sprinter?? Go to your local GP and ask him/her to take blood and run a host of tests, that will answer your questions regarding defiencies. hence my question What do you want to do with the info?
  17. First question to ask yourself is What does all this new info mean to me? There are other ways of finding out applicable info.
  18. He had a blue jersey on, white merida warp with SRAM 80 wheels. Happened right at the top of Atles, in front of the Checkers centre.
  19. Stoped to help a rider today, loked like the triathlon type, Merida warp snapped in half, rider went through the back window of a taxi, that stopped in the yellow line. My guess is he was riding on the tri bars and did not see the taxi stop. Facial lacerations (got that one off Greys Anatomy) and a few other scrapes that I could see. Waited till the paramedics arrived, then left. Good luck and get well soon
  20. Yes I still coach both road and track, pricing depends on what level of contact you are looking for, Weekly, Monthly, BiMonthly etc.
  21. Just down the road from Olifantskop, on the way to Olifantsbors......
  22. Fakes, can see it from a mile, give me the sellers details and I'll deal with him.......
  23. Your choice of wheels depends on your riding style. If you sit in the bunch the whole way, never going to the front, deep sections are doing no good at all, IMO they are a hinderance because of the extra weight. Rather go for a really light weight wheel. If you ride at the front, try to break away from the group etc, deep sections make sense, they need to be in the air to make any difference. However if you are the sprinter in your team then go for the deep sections, sit in the bunch do no work and jump at the end to try win the sprint, every millisecond counts. Or you could just join the countless riders that simply buy wheels to look cool.
  24. Depends on your level IMO Tour de Frans Sunday ride is a recovery ride, they cruise for 50k, then stop for tea and sandwiches, then cruise back home, the last 4k down atlas rd is the only fast section of the whole ride. If you want fast the Sat am ride from Bedfordview through Benoni, Pomona, back to Bedfordview is faster. We managed 43 avg a few weeks ago, including stops at robots!! However any ride can be easu depending on where you sit in the bunch.
  25. There is an egg based protein product
