    AMASHOVA

It's called a sweep truck. Btw, there were only 4600 riders in the 106, not 10000. Btw2, when last have you heard of a bike-jacking in the 94.7 or the Argus? It's route related, the organiser picks the route. Anyway, like I said, I hope it's only a story.

    AMASHOVA

IMO there is no comparison between the Amashova and the other 2. I did my first Amashova yesterday, it was an OK race, but not one I would rush back for. The 94.7 is much better, and the Argus is much, much better. The Amashova is tiny in comparison to the other two, the atmosphere is nowhere like the other two, parts of the route are a bit iffy from a road quality point of view. I hope the story about the attempted bikejack on a backmarker is just that ~ a story. If it's true, it's a piss-poor reflection on the organisers for leaving the poor sod out there to look after himself. Not worth the 1000+km of driving as far as I'm concerned.

I'm also in A. Problem is I'm not getting old, I'm already old, and old legs don't like climbing in the first ten k's. It's going to be a hard day in the saddle.
  4. I've been using RS80's for about 18 months, zero problems, fantastic wheel imo. Only difference between them and the DA is the hub (and the price). If money's no object, get the DA. If you want a great set of wheels for a fair price, you won't go wrong with the RS80's
  5. I use Aksiums for training, cheap and zero problems.
  6. Do yourself a favour and get proper professional help immediately. This is not something you play with or try to self-treat.

  8. Yaaaawwwnnnn. I stop at lights, I'd like to think all responsible cyclists stop at lights, unfortunately most amateur boy racers think it's cool to roll through. May the cars / taxi's / trucks flatten them all, and please let it happen often so that some of the others can learn that it's plain dumb. I won't miss them for a second, I won't post a sad "RIP fellow cyclist" on the hub. I will say "good riddance", though.
  9. Not complaining, just curious. No problem my side, I will decide on the day whether to stay in my group or drop back.
  10. Jock = Best race of the year. Period. Until you've experienced that pain, you haven't ridden a bike.
  11. I'm thinking the same thing, but I doubt they will allow it. I have a nasty feeling that I might get blown off the back of the A group after a couple of k's, and that's not a thought I relish.
  12. A at 6.35 There's something not right with the seeding this year, or they haven't received nearly as many entires as they expected. My seeding is good, but it shouldn't put me in A for a big race like this, I was expecting a B or C. I know of one rider who has a superseeding index of 30, who has been put in C.
  13. Insurance covers the policyholder from reasonable risk, but the policyholder has a responsibilty to do everything in his power to minimise that risk. A person who uses a private unregistered contractor to do work, as opposed to an "approved" contractor, is placing the asset at an increased risk of damage or loss. Further, most reputable businesses would have their own insurance to cover that type of risk, and your insurance company knows it. Damage caused by a backyard mechanic might raise a few eyebrows, my guess is they wouldn't pay.
  14. If you are 120 and losing weight, any 32 spoke wheel should work, provided you ride responsibly ie. avoid potholes, major bumps etc, lift your butt out of the saddle over bumps etc. There's no point in buying special wheels that you are going to dump in a few months time when you weigh 100kgs or less. At that weight, you will have a vast choice of good wheels available to you, that will carry the weight without a problem. Use the standard wheels that come with the bike, by the time you wreck them (which is unlikely) you will have lost weight and will be able to buy a good set of lighter wheels.
  15. It's easy. Train hard, eat less. Stick to that plan for a few months and the Lardo you saw in the mirror this morning will be gone.
  16. Jeez, is this crap still going on? Enough already.
  17. Now we all know why you are so anal. No further explanation necessary.
  18. I use them on all my training wheels, done thousands of k's with not one problem

  20. I agree. I've never been one to defend our darker brethren, but this looks like an average working Joe going about his business on a oldish bike that he could well have bought with his own hard earned bucks.
  21. I don't think it's going to be as flat as some people hope. There's a few nice long uphill drags that side of town.....

    D2D vs Cape Cobra

For what it's worth, I found the 94.7 to be easier than the D2D, but you must bear in mind that the D2D is done straight out of winter, while the 94.7 is done in summer when most people have got a lot of miles in the legs, and also lost a bit of winter flab. My 94.7 time last year was 8 minutes faster than my D2D time. And btw: I too was disappointed with my D2D time yesterday. That race sucked, it just wasn't my day.
  23. +1 As much as I'd like to see Contador on the top step, whoever wins this one deserves it.
  24. Sounds like he got what he deserved. Starting a fight after an accident is just plain stupid, it's just another form of road rage.

    D2D 2012

No, I just can't drop back. If they catch me on the road, so be it, but I don't drop back on the line. It's not in me. Looks like numbers can only be collected at c/lab?
