  1. Agreed, I'd rather pay 20 bucks and be safe than dodge taxis during rush hour. Best mid week training spot available.
  2. Price per person during the week has been raised to R20, same as Sundays. This should get some folks whining. Still worth it imo
  3. This was my first Jock. Stage 1 no problem, stage 2 challenging but no major problem, then came stage 3. I nearly died. I have NEVER suffered so much on a bike. I have no idea how I finished, but somehow I did. Next year? Probably, we never learn

    Jock Weather

Don't know where the 27 high came from on the weather forecast, it was well over 30 on the last stage. I just got through the fire as it reached the road, that was hectic. The guys behind must have really suffered, the smoke and heat from the flames nearly killed me.

    Jock Weather

Well, it looks like the weather gods are being kind to us. According to the weather report for Barberton / Nelspruit area tomorrow it will be clear with a low of 11 degrees and a high of 27, wind from 5-15. So we won't freeze at the start, cook (too much) later in the day, or be blown off the road by the wind. Good luck to all, see you at the top of the mountain(s)
  6. +1000 Bring back Contador. Steak and all.
  7. None yet, maybe next year. Is it true that the Schleck's have been offered an early bird special if they enter the 2013 Giro d'Italia Femminile by the end of this month? That could be a podium finish for them. Maybe.
  8. Both are safe, so long as you don't ride like a bonehead. Getting stuck on the wrong side of Suikerbos with dead legs and the last climb still to come would be more embarassing than unsafe, and mean a hell of a long walk back to the parking area. Rather go there on weekends, at least then you stand a chance of hitching a lift back with someone else's support car. The cradle is like any other public road, it has it's good days and it's bad days. Get in front of a car / tractor / motorbike and you're going to get flattened.
  9. Her withdrawal has nothing to do with suspected doping, she just can't stand to be away from sister Andrea any longer. I'm sure the two of them will cuddle on the couch today and watch the tour from a safe distance. Wimps, both of them.
  10. Fixed
  11. +1. Excellent stand, paid about 1800 for mine a year ago, no issues with it.
  12. So was the Dogma draw that was supposed to take place around Dec last year. What happened to that?
  13. Great. Another hazard weaving their way up the mineshaft at 3k's per hour. Worse still, in two months there will be another thousand on the track "training" for the 94.7. I do love dodging them, while they move left to right and back again with gay abandon.
  14. Transfer, bond and initiation fees on 600k would be about 28k, give or take a few. Transfer duty on 1.2m would be 22k, divided by 2.
  15. The costs are correct. If transferring from an estate, it is a reduced rate. If transferring from another natural person, normal fees apply. And btw: the 600k issue is often misunderstood, as seen by some posts above. There is no transfer DUTY (sars fee) payable if the price is below 600k, but you still have to pay normal transfer COSTS (attorney fee) on the full 600 Sorry, but you will just have to suck it up and pay.
  16. Rubbish. For any repair, there is a spares cost, and a labour cost. Unless the shops pricing structure uses spares to subsidise labour, which is a dumb, then there is no reason why labour should be marked up because of the owner supplying his own parts.
  17. Going to a biokineticist is the best money I have ever spent on cycling. A proper assessment, followed by good training advice (mainly off the bike), has improved my performance immensely, and cut injuries down to practically nil. A good bio is worth every cent.
  18. I did 2.54 in the Fast One, BL for this race. Seeding system seems ok.
  19. The best cramp blocker you can get is correct and adequate training. Costs very little in Rands, but plenty in time and pain.
  20. So what you are saying is that we should all disregard the laws because most people do it? Which means that every day, it simply gets worse. Sorry, but I disagree with you. Even if I am the last person doing it, whether I drive or ride I will obey the rules of the road.
  21. I'm using Elliott. Since making my booking a few months ago, I have had a few enquiries / questions that have all been answered promptly and correctly, they seem pretty jacked up. The drop off/pick up points are convenient, and they have been doing it a long time, so I'm confident my money was well spent with them.
  22. I can't say I enjoyed this race, way too many dangerous intersections to cross, and too many of these intersections were manned by lone flag waving individuals. Approaching some of them in a speeding bunch was a bit disconcerting at times, all it needed was for an impatient motorist to push through for a big accident to happen. I'm crossing this one off my future race list, there are much safer places to ride on a Sunday morning.

    Fast One

I really enjoyed this race. No parking problems, good venue, well organised, quiet relatively smooth roads and cool weather conditions. Yes there were a few crashes, but that is to be expected when big fast groups are going down the road. Marshals and medical staff seemed to be on the ball. I will be back next year.
  24. Spot on. Forget about overall bike weight, that is only used by manufacturers to fleece the foolish. Reduce rotational weight as much as possible, and cut as many kilos off the rider as possible. Much easier, not to mention cheaper.
