  1. You've just got to love the pre-election antics of these clowns. Zuma leading the charge to reduce perks. Yeah, right. Is it April fools day?
  2. The results of this race are always a stuff up, because people can take short cuts in all the distances. Racetec removed the original obvious cheaters, but there are still at least 2 people in the top 50 who shouldn't be there (first and second in the F group, times of 2:19 and 2:22) Looking at previous results of these two individuals, there is no way they did 2:19 or 2:22 These are just two that I happened to spot, there are probably lots more.
  3. So, by reading between the lines, are we to assume that Just Cycles is in fact, the offending party? Just guessing.
  4. It's probably just someone at Racetec having one of their usual brainfart moments. Give it an hour or two and the results will be back.
  5. The 105 groupset for 2013 is great. The 2011 Ultegra (6600 if I'm not mistaken) was good, but had exposed cables. The 6700 had hidden cables, and would probably be roughly equivalent to the new 105. If it was me I wouldn't think twice about it, the new 105 would be my choice.
  6. All these "holding line" comments really make me smile. Show me any group, in any fun ride, where everyone holds their line and flows along smoothly for 100k's like a stage of the Tour. It just doesn't happen. There are far too many wanabee pro's in the bunches who should spend more time pedalling, and less time shouting and expecting everyone to hold a perfect line. Rather give a slightly bigger gap, and expect the unexpected. It will be much less stressful.
  7. I couldn't care less about the goodie bag ~ it goes straight to my gardener anyway. Same applies to the medal ~ junk. Same applies to the entry fee ~ as much as it irritates me to support the ASG crowd, that's life. I do, however, care about my skin and bones. No words can describe that pathetic little strip of tar that was used for the start/finish. It was not suitable for the job, and never will be. It was without a doubt the most dangerous feature of the entire race. If that strip of tar is what ASG calls "investing in infrastructure at the venue" (from their previous post), then i'm sorry to say it's just not good enough.
  8. Conti GP4000S for me. It's a much better tyre than I am a rider. No complaints whatsoever.
  9. Only 5 noob posts and already the insults are flying. Keep this up, and you are going to be veeeery popular on the Hub.
  10. Rule 1 of online shopping: Know what you are buying. I got wheels from them a few weeks back, delivered through the post office, no issues, no extra charge, and considerably cheaper than local price. Delivery was super quick too. Will happily order from them again.
  11. Having a bad day is one thing, it happens to all of us, but feeling unbalanced and falling three times is not a bad day, it is something that should be investigated without delay. Get yourself to a doctor. The hub is not the place for dealing with this.
  12. Or when you Africanise it: Can you cycle on a highway? Why not Is it legal? Who cares.
  13. This is pisspot poor. Number collection Thursday? Friday? Cycle lab? Solomons? Does anyone know? Does ASG know? Last sms I received was last Friday: "Hekpoort awaits etc etc, entry is confirmed, race number to follow" Now we are 24 hours away from the original CL number collection plans, no further sms or email, and nobody seems to know what the hell is going on. Nice one, ASG. Way to go.
  14. Do yourself a favour. Log off now, and forget about the hub for a week or so. Nobody criticises CWC or ASG, for any reason, and gets away with it. When the fans see this post, you are in for a reaming.
  15. Why not? I have no problem with an approaching car giving a hoot, at least I know he's there. Then again, I don't block lanes when riding, so I have no reason to be aggro with motorists.
  16. Give it time, and practice as much as possible. It's not your ankles. Once the tension is properly set, unclipping is more technique than force.
  17. Great news, thanks. +-55km? The Valverde loop is 28k's, so please tell me that the plan is to do that section on both sides of the road.
  18. Like at Wilro?
  19. Me too. WTF???? Have only done 2 seeding races this year (B&D, Argus), and they chuck me in B. This is going to be painful.
  20. Nice. Not only help out people in need, but also bury the hatchet at the same time. I LIKE IT.
  21. ASG can't afford it. It's Friday, they have to buy fuel for the helicopter today.
  22. 3. Find a new mechanic. If the limit screws were set correctly, this would never have happened.
  23. Johan helped lots of people, myself included, on many, many ocassions. Always willing to provide advice. Unfortunately, some people are sensitive, and find his comments and behaviour to be a bit abrasive. Personally, I don't, I think he's a great guy He tells it like it is, which is far better (IMO) than all the sensitive pc type comments that are all too common these days
  24. Just had my first encounter with Wiggle, and either my luck is changing or these guys are seriously on the ball. Last Tuesday, on our public holiday, I got their usual specials email. Even with the crazy GBP exchange rate, prices on wheelsets were too good to pass so I ordered a set. On previous CRC orders I used DHL, but their costs are getting out of hand so I opted for the tracked post office delivery, additional cost GBP3.99 Just phoned to check the local tracking, nearly fell out of my chair ~ my wheels are at the post office ready for collection. Exactly one week from payment to delivery. I have had previous DHL deliveries that took longer than that.
  25. Just make sure you check opening times at http://www.ridekyalami.co.za/. Most weekdays its from 4.15pm, but sometimes a bit later if the track is being used for something else.
