  1. BP Garage cnr of Main Rd and 10th Ave Walmer. 05h30 Mon, Wed, Fri - Flat, fast loop approx. 40 km's.
  2. I wish you all the best with this challenging, but exciting project. I look forward to tracking your progress.
  3. You can have carb-based drinks/gels on long or really tough rides, but you don't need to eat pasta everyday.
  4. After trying everything (I even went vegetarian for about 6 months, the whole blood group crap), I discovered that my biggest issues were actually wheat/gluten intolerance. As soon as I cut the pasta/bread etc. and sugar, and started consuming meat and fats, my weight started to drop. The Paleo Solution changed my life, and now I happily sit around the 88kg mark. Before this, I too stalled at about 98-100kg for a very long time. A big help is to watch what you eat more closely. Use an app on your phone to track your caloric intake, I like using Calorie Counter by FatSecret, very good app with lots of SA foods in its database.
  5. Hi dipslick, I too lost almost 30kgs after changing my diet. Looking at what you said you eat on an average day, your carbs still seem to be high. If you want to lose weight, you'll have to keep you carbs under 100g per day, I would recommend 50 - 80g should be good. I would also suggest that you keep your caloric intake maybe in the 1800 - 2000 kCal region. Having done TONS of research on this, I would probably guess that you are insulin resistant, so controlling your intake of carbs is going to be very important. Rather up your protein, and you must make sure you are consuming good fats too. The absolute best book I have ever read, which explains everything in huge detail is: The Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf, get it from Amazon. It will give you a true insight into how your body works.
  6. I would recommend a mild coffee like an Ethiopian washed Sidamo or Limu. Very nice!
  7. Love this bike!!!
  8. I'm not sure how, but the wheel got 'lost' somewhere between Omnico and Cape Cycle Systems (don't quite understand how they even got involved in this). I'm assuming the LBS was communicating with the rep who they deal with, and he just couldn't give them direct answers everytime they called to inquire.
  9. UPDATE: I guess thanks to The Hub, my problem was resolved by Omnico's Marketing Manager, who saw this thread. He pm'd me for details, looked into it, and I guess 'lit a fire' under somebody's butt, because 2 days later, it is all fixed and in my possession (finally). It was pretty disappointing to wait 5 weeks for a simple wheel repair, and get the total run-around, but thanks to the intervention of their Marketing Manager, my faith is somewhat restored. Glad to know that there are people there who want to help and get problems/issues resolved. - Rudolf
  10. These tyres are great, and come in awesome colours. Only issue is that you'll have to order them from overseas. I haven't been able to find them here in SA (yet). They're called Duro Fixie Pops.
  11. Took my Easton EA90 Aero to my lbs because another spoke had broken. When they phoned Omnico to get spokes, they were told not to repair it, but to send the wheel to Omnico for repairs (seemingly due to some recall on bad spokes or something). The wheel was collected by their courier 5 weeks ago, and believe it or not, I am still waiting for it. Now it sounds like they don't even know where the wheel is. Surely if they've lost my wheel, they are responsible to replace it, and surely it doesn't take more than 5 weeks to sort this out? Wouldn't they have insurance for something like this?
  12. Why do you need to re-install everything?
  13. Had one of these as a teenager, awesome bike. Enjoy it!!
  14. Ha ha, that put a smile on my face.
  15. Love this bike, it actually was my first choice, but I finally decided to save about R7k on the frameset and get the Neil Pryde instead.
  16. Standard chain is better when doing a conversion, normally 5-8 speed will do fine.
  17. A Scott in Large, will be fine for your height.
  18. Find a second hand Scott CR1, probably around the R8k bracket. It is very good quality, and you'll find it comfortable due to the sportive design of the frame (it has a longer head tube).
  19. If you train hills, then you won't find it that tough. Wind is the bigger issue. Hope its a head wind on the way out, and with you on the way back. I reckon max 50mm deep for your wheels. There is a fair advantage to be had on a tri/aero setup, but still fine on a standard road bike if thats all you have.
  20. The parcel should be going to your local post office for you to collect. Normally takes 2 weeks or so. Try calling 0860 111 502, give them the international (ParcelForce) tracking number, and if it's in the country, they can then give you the local tracking number. You should then be able to use this new, local number to track your parcel through the sapo website.
  21. Thanks. IT took me about a month to decide exactly what I was going to do. I bought it with the intention of sanding it down to reveal the carbon. But then my lazy-ass side kicked in, and for a couple of weeks I was considering just spraying it a different colour to save the hard graft. Fortunately I came to my senses, and decided the laborious task of sanding the paint off would be well worth the effort to attain the aesthetic I was after. I really love the carbon tubes joined by alu lugs, just think it looks cool. Probably took in the region of 12-14 hours of sanding, spraying, stickering, and then an hour or two of building. I ordered all the gold bits from the US, tyres, seat, crank, chain, tensioner, ss conversion kit from the UK. I definitely did lose some sleep deciding on colours, and what I think should go where. Like most things though, in my mind I envisaged 'coolness' and just had to go for it, and hope it turned out ok. I'm happy with the result.
  22. Weight limit is over 200kg's and it is waterproof. Looks like a great idea imho
  23. I love black bikes, here are 3 of the 4 that I own. Neil Pryde Alize: Look KG56 ss conversion: Bulls Copperhead 29er: Built them all up myself, and loved it.
  24. Thanks. That's exactly what I envisaged, but glad to hear that other's see it that way too - A balance of bad ass and city sleek.
  25. Thought so too. Gave me that graffiti look, and also saved me sanding down the seat tube I don't want to see sandpaper for a looong time.
