  1. okay jealous. Where to get a good bunny in Jhb's N Suburbs? Like in Fourways? Anyone tried that place on Cedar near the car wash just past the 4 ways life hospital?
  2. Here is the Breville Oracle which is $ 2400 new in the USA. Its a great machine but expensive. the alternative is to get a Rocket with a grinder but thats not auto so the wife will not go through all the steps to make coffee when i am not there to do it. Popcorn roasters give mixed results.... https://www.amazon.com/Breville-Oracle-Automatic-Manual-Machine/dp/B073TYYM91/ref=sr_1_5?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1527494834&sr=1-5&keywords=breville+espresso+machine
  3. If i was thinking of trying o roast some beans at home where would i get beans and where could i get a home roaster? There are some kickstarter projects i have been looking at but i just wanted to know if there are other ways of doing this that are simple and easy... I am also looking at getting a new machine. The thing is whatever i get has to be or have an auto function as well as manual so the wife can just push buttons. Rocket Espresso is very nice but does it have an auto function i.e. bean to cup. What about the fancy Breville. It gets rave reviews but is it available locally - its fully auto but looks pricey and i cant find a local supplier?
  4. OT totally. We used to have to use these at University in the 80's - Wits. If the card reader went awry and turned your 300 line program aka card deck in to confetti, it was bad day for you mate. I saw students crying late at night with final assignments reduced to bird cage lining...
  5. Have to give credit to the source. An old one but a good one: https://www.gamespot.com/forums/offtopic-discussion-314159273/for-those-of-you-upgrading-from-girlfriend-70-to-w-26315054/
  6. Yep Wife 2.0 does not like pleasant recalls of Wife v1.0. Even if humorous, they anecdotes are often lost on v2. You are better off telling v2 about blue screens of death and complete meltdowns than about pleasant moments, until V2 is secure and has occupied the hard drive for considerable time....
  7. You are pretty much guaranteed that the new "bird" will ensure the nest is cleansed before she decides to settle there. Secondly you will likely end up with all your boy toy/bachelor pad goodies you loved in a box in the garage which will be given to the gardener if she moves in and sets up home with you. Dont fight it mate - its part of the rules of second relationships: Before you load wife 2.0 all of wife 1.0 and interim development copies of girlfriend, mistress and beta copies of wife 1.5 will have to be completely uninstalled and the hardware completely reformatted as the new OS will need all the resources available. And if you dont do this and some remnants of the prior operating systems are found tucked away in secret partitions or password protected archives you are ensured the new OS will not load. Hours will be spent trouble shooting your intentions when you preserved these contraband versions of your operating model and likely will delay loading of wife 2.0 for extended periods whilst hardware is further scoured as the uninstall process on first try was clearly faulty.
  8. Surprisingly a huge amount of great advice for me came from male friends who were very caring and very insightful - i posted about pizza night and some of the characters there. It was started by guys who were getting divorced and on a Monday night had nothing to do and were sad so went for a pizza. That was a great place to go because everyone listened and had been where you were at some time. Guys have great advice many times...
  9. where did you get that - looks nice..
  10. So where do you get the tape?
  11. Read this blog: http://blingkingbikes.co.za/how-am-still-alive/ This was more truth than i like to think about......
  12. XR 200R - now you weren't alive if that wasn't an object of lust if you were in your twenties in the 80's. If you were rich or had a bursary at varsity you had one from your bursary money. if you were brave you got a XR500R. Yamaha IT 250 and 465 were beasts. IT 490 was mental, it would lift its front wheel in 4th anytime. You had to get right over the tank on any start cause it would throw you off quickly. Fronk forks like spaghetti all of them and the 4 strokes had an evil habit of kicking the **** out of you if started incorrectly. I remember when working on them always putting a boot on or something solid cause it broke a mates foot when it kicked him. There's even a site for large 2 stroke MX bikes on FB. Honda CR500R 4 gear was the king - mental machine. The other i still couldn't quite get my head around is an oke in Germany who made this beast - s 700CC Maico Two stroke. Imagine the torque:
  13. There were some embarrassing moments in my music history as well. Sugar Baby Love by the Rubettes, Was mal over this song. Terry Jacks Seasons in the Sun. Used to get the Springbok Hits Albums for R 2,99 from the OK in Linden - Mom bought them for me sometimes. Also a Neil Diamond phase. I hated Disco with a passion - it was like the Anti-christ. Hasnt changed My older sister was a lot older than me (8 years) so at 10 years old (she was 18 and doing matric) i was getting blasted by Cat Stevens from the room next door, as she was into the art and hippie scene. Credence was also one of her favourites. I know that music very well. I went to see Cat Stevens at the dome recently and it was crazy how much of it i knew. But I can honestly say the first album which i ponied up my hard earned cash for myself was Pink Floyd at the CNA record bar in Cresta. remember it clearly...
  14. Your First LP. Went to the CNA in Cresta with R5.99 and proudly purchased Pink Floyd Dark Side of the moon. I was 12 years old and had no clue as to what the lyrics meant but my one mate who was older than me told me it was a cool album so ipso facto i bought it. Back home on to the folks Blaupunkt Stereo, Volume at 10 and then sat there wondering what the hell it all meant. I had to buy headphones as the old lady didnt want "that weird underground music" playing in her lounge. It was an auspicious start...
  15. How much and what are the specs on it?
  16. the sub concious has a way of playing things out when it wants to put them away. The feelings that these episodes conjure up are real and probably need you to address them - thats why they are being played back. Sounds like psycho babble but it happened to me lots. Afterwards i recognized it was all part of the healing
  17. That's what it looked like to me. I am waiting for my delivery of my Campy freebody so i can put my spare bike on the trainer and then get going - its a mission to change clusters from 10 to 11 speed etc. Once i have that i will get started with FTP test etc and then just do a bit of riding in ZWIFT to get used to it. Then once i think i am serious and have a goal i will go over to Trainer Road for the "serious" interval stuff. I need to do some base as well. What sort of values do you monitor if you had to be able to load a training profile on your garmin screen - is it just power or should you be looking at sustained power over a period. I dont have a power meter on the road bike but i would like to understand what metrics to monitor. Logically watts per kg but that is going to be impacted longer term by weight etc? What do you guys look at?
  18. Okay installed my trainer and everything is starting to fit together - any comments on other apps - Trainer Road vs Zwift. Zwift seems to be pretty processor intensive - i have run it on my Macbook Pro and the fans start up in no time. It seems Trainer road is a lot less about the virtual world and a lot more about a structured ergime with detailed feedback?
  19. Hi, How do i get the data fed from my HR strap to the Zwift app? I see there is the Tickr HR belt - does bluetooth work as the synch mechanism from the belt to the laptop or wherever you are running Zwift or do you need to use ANT+. If so i assume a USB based ANT+dongle is required. Any recommendations on this piece of the setup?
  20. so does ZWIFT support 4K? If its being rendered at 4K then it will probably insane bandwidth up or am i missing something....
  21. Is the 4 k required. I have an older HDMI Apple TV which i was wanting to use for it - just wanting to check whether Zwift supports 4K or is it because the 4K Apple TV can run apps and you are running ZWIFT on the Apple TV? Is the 4k required or do you think the HDMI will suffice
  22. I started in 4C just behind the club 21 guys in 4B. There was a heart attack I. The group ahead. The guy was in a 21 jersey on the ground and they were already doing CPR on him as we passed coming out of Simonstown on the way to Smitswinkel. It wasn’t looking positive at that stage from what I saw. Any news on that incident ?
  23. One foot in front of another .... Like the end of a long race.... When you get a chance sit and think and look back at where you were when you first posted this topic and see the distance you have come since then. And in the immortal words of one of my mates: Like in a hire car - there is a warning "Things in the rear view mirror may be closer than what they appear". The point is: There may be a time when you ex realizes things aren't going to be as great as what she thought and then will be like a boomerang back at your doorstep. Normally when **** happens with the new BF. My ex chose the morning of the court appearance to finalize to call me to discuss whether we were doing the right things. Its a tough call to get. If you have come this far and your world is starting to stabilize - going back can haul you back in very quickly in to the quagmire you were in. Just saying Just go forward mate. No looking back other than to measure the distance as to how far you have come.
  24. Hmm- there is a lot of arrogance and this is really a minority element that tends to get all the attention in any group. Generalisations are dangerous but should i venture to say it's likely an Elite group of fast and strong guys? This thread is honestly unfair as every club has a bunch who is convinced of their own self importance and its sometimes the strong and fast guys who are in that bunch so by implication they are the clubs elites. Not always but often this is the case. They set the cultural example for the bunch and for the club and this filters downwards as to how its done. swe are fast therefore we are better than others and make our own rules, cause fast = good cyclist? Every club has its club strong man who everyone looks up to and obeys on the road. And every club has their rogues who see themselves as having a god given right to the road. FWIW: Have you ever lead a ride or tried to marshall a big bunch. It's a way to screw up your ride. IN between shouting and screaming just to keep a large bunch safe you haven't often got time to teach and be polite. Often there is immediate danger that you need to make people aware of. You can't just steer a bunch around an obstacle or through a changing traffic light or something unanticipated. It's not like that - everyone has a mind of their own. Also my comfort zone with cyclists close to me is much lower than for example my wife's who panics every time someone is near. I trust my skills whereas she is much more edgy. Thing is maybe someone sees you moving over when a big bunch is passing because like my wife is you are edgy with the bunch being so near, and then taps you or warns you to just stay put. That's normal for me. My wife would go crazy. So do you let a bunch crash and multiple people fall because you are passing a nervous noob or what do you do on at the time? Then someone panics and starts shouting and cursing because they are threatened and scared and with bunch probably chirps them back. then all hell breaks loose. I have seen it many time. Then whatever club it is a bunch of knobs etc. Lets just understand the dynamic above - it aint easy trying to take 5 big bunches through the cradle two weeks prior to the Argus. Chances are you will infringe on or have incidents rathe rthan not. In fact its a miracle that more incidents dont occur. And yes bunches have mob mentality by implication so just chill and work out a way to let them pass without any issues. Remember they are also at risk. Again my 2 cents worth...
  25. Ho hum and we are back to Andrew Mclean bashing.... Andrew has probably done more for the sport and for you as a rider than anyone else in South Africa i can think of mate. Sure not without benefitting him, but that is how it works. So i can't say i agree with you. And whether you like him or hate him you can't question his contribution to the sport. Not sure how long you been on your bicycle but all your online entry and seeding systems that everyone now uses were created largely because of the Cyclelab and Andrew, never mind the TV shows etc. Just saying... Also ridden with CL of and on for over 20 years and have always considered their bunches well mannered and courteous and well organized. I spend almost every weekend out in the cradle riding on my own and have never had an issue with them - there are other clubs which are generally much more undisciplined. Lets not open that can of worms here now as well.
