  1. On a related point, how much of the bike would have to be taken apart to qualify as parts and not a complete bike in the eyes of the tax man?
  2. Had my first ride with the B17 Standard. Don't care what it looks like because for the first time i had a comfortable ride and that's with the saddle straight out of the box. Don't see how it can get more comfortable but i look forward to many more km's on it
  3. cb someone else posted this on recently can't remember who Call 0860 111 502, give them your overseas tracking number and they will give you a SAPO tracking number, then go to http://www.parceltrack.co.za/ and track your parcel.
  4. As a matter of interest how much did the frame cost? I am thinking of joining the Morewood nutters
  5. Mine arrives today, can't wait to see if it is going to be the answer
  6. Well for me it boils down to one thing, What am i getting out of it?. It's my money and i want to make it go as far as possible, so why should i pay inflated prices when i can get it cheaper. If the LBS wants me to pay a premium then they are going to have to offer me something to balance it out. Unfortunately the experience i get here is a take it or leave it attitude. Between Christmas and New year i went to City Cycles (just browsing whilst the wife was shopping) saw some of the items i was going to buy on CRC and thought lets see what they can do. Anyway i had just over a R1000 of items and asked for discount on the BBB torque Wrench as i could get it much cheaper at CRC, CWC online had it at just a little bit more than CRC but they were closed. The owner wouldn't even budge on the price so i walked out and left everything. For me it wasn't a major setback as i was already ordering from CRC and was prepared to wait a week or two. But my attitude to that bike shop is that i will never bother with them again. So the shop has lost the slightly reduced profit that they could have made but more importantly i would think is the fact that i will never buy from them again. Although thinking about it again, why should they worry, after all who needs customers. On another matter, i phoned a LBS for a price on a Giant Reign Frame, was promised a phone call back to tell me if they could get it or alternatively what a new one would cost. Almost two weeks later i am still waiting for a response. I have had good experiences with them in the past so in this instance i will not name them.
  7. LBS vs Online Still think that LBS in SA still need to realise that online is there and moaning about it isn't going to help. So you need to excel at those areas where you can compete such as in convenience and service. However bar a few these concepts seem to be alien in SA.
  8. Picked up my order earlier and must say that i am very impressed. Thanks very much Chris and was nice meeting you for the first but definitely not the last time. By the way 5 unmentioned Cape Town bike shops who shall remain unnamed, you might want to give Chris a call and ask for some customer relations lessons.

  11. Thanks for the replies so far, Looked at the formula's but they are out of stock at CR Capricorn do you have any problem with noise on your Elixir CR's?
  12. I am looking for some new brakes, for my trance x1, at the moment i have 160mm avid juicy 5's. Problems are, constant noise no matter the adjustment, no reach adjustment, get brake fade on longer downhills. In my ignorance i have narrowed my choices down to the following; 1. Hope Tech X2 2. Hayes Stroker Ace 2011 3. Avid Elixir CR Carbon Can i get some recommendations please, feel free to add any other suggestions and motivate Thanks
  13. Is there a difference in the strength of the rails between the normal ones and the titanium ones, or is it just a weight thing?
  14. These days i don't clip out for anything, just find it more comfortable. However when i first started these pedals were great, as i could clip out when i got to difficult technical sections in preparation for putting my foot down. Now as i said i tend to stay clipped in unless i need to dab a foot down, but i have adjusted the tension so that clipping out is almost as instinctive as taking my foot off a flat pedal. Where these pedals are really great is when starting on a hill or in difficult terrain or just when your foot comes unclipped, theres no struggling to get clipped in, you can basically just pedal until they clip in
  15. Try these and get the best of both worlds, used them for over two years now and couldn't be happier. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=4516
  16. Should have hit them over the head with a 2x4, that'll show them the necessity for a helmet
  17. Now i want to ride without a helmet, so that i can get a free one
  18. See, now if more people had to do that they would have no option but to reduce the costs or at least make the packages more flexible.
  19. Cure yourself of the addiction, ditch DSTV
  20. Ditched DSTV a year ago and replaced it with an uncapped ADSL account, now get all the progs i want, plus all the sport from BBC using a british proxy. Can honestly say i have never missed DSTV one little bit
  21. Was on the green route yesterday with my wife, found the section going into the forest just before the end, also seemed to have been cleaned up. The steeper parts were really hard packed, so much so that i could see rubber marks on the ground.
  22. Stop picking on Lee, he is a little sensitive, anyway he would much rather be on the MTB. Come on you know its true. And yes his work hours are a bitch, we try to get out every wednesday after work to get a ride in at hillcrest, and more often that not one of his truly reliable workers doesnt pitch so he has to stay and bang goes another wednesday.
  23. Ill pass this on to your boss, or did you mean like, plonker
