My wife and i were discussing the exact same thing a few days ago when we found out about Jazz's Hip Dyph…. I have/had what i would call pavements specials. A supposed Fox terrier and a supposed Dashund. Although when they were pups they slept inside most of the time they were outside. They ate what ever food i could afford. Only ever saw a vet to have them sterilised. Then i go and buy my collie. Spend a fortune on her getting her from a breeder so that i can make sure i get the right temperament and reduce the risk of Hip Dyp. Regular vet visits for injections. Royal Canine food. Regular obedience training etc. True as nuts she isn't even 2 and she has been diagnosed with Hip Dyp.

they still sent out letter about the batch that had failed and if yours was one of that batch they replaced it for free

Some of the chips have a tendency to move. There was also a batch of them that were manufactured and failed.

I also prefer a natural tank but just didn't find the time to clean it property. Also all the best locations for it were in direct sunlight

I gave up on my tank. Had a few in my life and then the wife and I bought a massive one. The thing has stood empty for more than a year now.

i have even tried collars that have a wire bead. Totally hopeless. Rather just be vigilant.

We do however have photos of all dogs in our area. If a dog gets out it easy to trace them back home.

i have given up trying to keep a collar on my dogs. They just pull or chew each others off. But they are chipped

We started noticing a limp and thought that she might have just hurt herself playing. But after a while she would run and go nuts. We then started seeing the limp more and more and especially when she was getting up from sleep. Took her in on monday to get checked out and they thought it might just be some inflammation in the joint and gave her some anti inflammation tabs to monitor. Also we were checking her right leg, On tuesday morning i had to catch an early flight and when she got up to greet me i saw she wasn't even standing on the left leg so arranged with the vet to do X-rays. Didn't ask for the damage in terms of scale. I was too mortified to ask. I love this dog more than any other dog i have ever had. Her birth name is the same as my son. Her birthday is the same as mine. Her personality is just like mine. She is superb with my son. He can lay on her like a pillow and she will stay there until he gets up. I had dreams of running with her. Taking her on holiday with us and her running on the beach. In terms of her weight she is not obese but the Vet wants her to look almost anorexic so that the joint have less weight to bear.

We have a 10000sqm property and the vet reckons with her younger sister (also a collie) and her playing she will get more than enough exercise. Got a lump in my throat this morning though when she brought her soccer ball for me to kick.

Very very sad day for me today. My Jazz who,is only 1,5 years was diagnosed with hip dip. I am not allowed to throw a ball for her anymore nor is my son. No more going for runs. Because we have a big property the only exercise she should get is when she plays with her sister in the yard. And also a strict diet to try and make her lose some weight so that there is less strain on the joint.
