  1. Not at all. Just that in my opinion (Which i am entitled to) the benefits of a 29er outweigh the benefits of a 26". Having ridden both. 26" for about 6 or 7 years and a 29er for about a year and a half i can immediatly feel the diffenrence even on a flat road that requires no skill whatsoever. But then again, each to his own. Potatoe /Po Ta Toe
  2. I could not agree more. I climbed back on my 26" again this weekend as my normal machine was having a service done and i HATED every minute of it. And even typing HATED in capital letters does not express the true emotion i felt and a little girl came wizzing past me on the flats. I had to pedal my mielie off just to stay with her. I felt every small bump and pebble in the road. In fact i hated the small wheels so much that next time if my Proper bike is in for a service i just wont ride!
  3. Not sure exctly how it works but i was told by my LBS that they need to build it up or if there are warranty issues they will not be able to send it back to Specialized. I agrre that it is BS as in some cases the mechs at the LBS are less clued up than i am and that is saying something. Be that as it may after foking out for the frame i cant afford to have issues if anything goes wrong.
  4. After readin all the posts about the race i am keen to do it next year.Sounds challenging but alot of fun too.
  5. I had to scroll back up to see what you were talking about. And i thought men were not supposed to wear red shorts.
  6. Thanks for all these posts. The only snake i have ever seen here in midrand was a brown house snake. Now thanks to all of you i think i will be focusing more on road riding than MTB.
  7. DROOL That is a seriously pretty bike you have there. I am thinking of going SRAM force with a nice set of 40mm carbon deep sections. Le Peleton dont have stock of Roval wheels at the moment. BUT like my previous post. I have a damn GT hardtail that i dont seem to be able to sell because the frame size is an XL. The wife is adamant that the GT must go before i even consider building my Tarmac up.
  8. Thanks 1 Hill All i can do though is look at the frame. Still need to get wheels components etc.
  9. This is my new baby. Just need someone to buy my GT MTB so i can get some components on this thing.
  10. Yeah same here. Last years time was nothing to write home about. This year i will have my revenge. Plan on cutting 1 hour min off last years time.
  11. No - the 106km is on the saturday and the 50 whatever is on the sunday.
  12. I am gonna do the 106 km on the saturday with all 20 of my gears! then ride the Sunday with the wife. With all 20 of my gears!
  13. When you pump your shock. pump positive chamber first(the top one) then negative chamber(bottom one) When pumping shock check to see that the negative chamber does not suck the fork down.

I hated the cross marks when they were on my bike. In fact i gave them away. Found that they were terrible when riding in wet/damp conditions. Been riding the Schwable Rocket Rons and loving them. Have had one puncture on the rear but it sealed itself and i carried on riding.
  15. Funny but i was thinking exactly the same thing the other day when i had to put my rear disc back on. Then again look at the Hope discs which does not work on either principle.
  16. There is no debate. Also a good choice of brand. I ride the Epic comp 29er with 100mm and i will not ride anything else!
  17. hehehe I have told her to just trust me. but i am sure when i get a smack on the back of the head i will know i am going too fast or if she doesnt she is holding on for dear life. Yeah i got her a MTB too as that is what i prefer but i cant get good distance in as we are totally different fitness levels. I also want to just expose her to riding so she can see how to handle riding in a race/group etc. I always eat Pronutro before a race and it has the same effect. LOL
  18. I am starting to get jealouse of all these people who are getting entries and i am still sitting on the waiting list for both the Adventure and the race.
  19. She is trying to get into riding. I have realised that i will be doing all the climbing and will be pulling her most of the way. BUT that is also why i borrwed one before i buy. Because if it doesnt work out then i just say sorry love. No money for a tandem - or something along that line. Then again she is also pretty competitive and wont give up easily.
  20. whoo hoooo managed to get hold of one. It doesnt have drop bars(Only stragight Bar). But who cares. This is going to be interesting.
  21. I am not liking this. I have gone from being Tean ID 11#$ something to Team ID 2320.
  22. hahaha thats brilliant!
  23. I just tried to log in again and register. i was asked for my ID number and was taken to a page that had mine and my team mates details. Looks looks like i got an entry! Havent recieved the email for payment yet but will keep my fingers crossed. I f i have that will be 5 years of dreaming come true!!!
  24. Just to show the level of service MArk is prepared to offer. I just emailed him about trading in my 5 bike and about the arms for a 29er. He came back to me in 30min. Also when i got the trailer there was a problem with the bike rack vibrating. He drove to my house, collected the trailer. Repaired it and drove my trailer back to my house.
  25. Mark from Strides is Very accomodating and will make the arms longer for you if you need them. PLus they are interchangable.
