  1. Did you ever see this baby!!??? It actually rode in the TDF.
  2. After a long wait and a lot of phonecalls I rocked up to my LBS to find one waiting for me. It worked really well for me. I guess it is like trying to source a set screw for a caliper, you have to know the right people. I have mostly worked through a bikeshop in Germany when I need "exotic" parts like this. They can get anything and are super jacked. One of the mechs eventually got a job on CSC team. The guys know there stuff there so it is a pleasure dealing with them. Local Shimano guys do the basics and not very well I must ad. That's why I import all my goods because small things like a tool for big blade bolts take 10 weeks to arrive.

  4. There is your problem! SA does not have all the goods! http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/SI_0047A/SI-0047A-001_ENG_v1_m56577569830679638.pdf
  5. I have not bought one recently , but I know that they have them. I even see they are still on their North American site eventhough some guys complained about the 7900 series. I bought a 7800 series quick link. I think it is more the SA importers who don't import everything. Like the Carbon DA 7800 crank!!!!! Freak it was beautiful!
  6. Then what do you call a CN-NX01 and SM-CN79 Quicklink?
  7. You need to feel it to believe it! I got dropped from the Argus invitational group due to cramps stemming from too much of a good Giro. So I plodded along munching on some rennies. Finally I got going again and had huge power from nowhere. TTed till just before the bottom of Chappies where I hooked onto the back of the front 4-5 tandems and whacked it so hard up Chapmans that I believe I was in big ring even be it on the top of my cluster. So yeah, from cramps back and front to sitting at about 330W for 90 minutes. I would think Rennies are not a bad idea when it happens. Multiple other times have had it work. Got the idea from an ex-track World Champ and multiple SA champ and Sprinkbok. He swears by it. As do an number of elite athletes I know.
  8. I pulled out of my first ever race in Kentucky last year. Was 40C with 90+% humidity and a hot blazing sun with 40 guys wacking it in a full blown Pro/CAT1 crit. There were not even enough finishers to complete the prize money properly. Boy was it hot!
  9. Physio. It looks to be at the point where you muscle attached to your tendon. If you rub your finger over it does it feel fibrous? It is most likely caused by over-use and too-short quad muscles. You will also probably need a physio to correctly breakdown any possible scar tissue and rehab the area if it is as I suspect. Reason I say this is that I had this injury before myself and it hurt just like you say. Sometimes climbing stair 2 at a time. Time and patience will be key here as IF there is scar tissue above the "knots"/fibrous area it will need time to heal or may get worse.
  10. I think Powerbalance will fade away without some very strong evidence coming through within the next few months. If PB can do some REAL testing then they may be able to save their product and even proof the critics who have no counter evidence other than their ignorant opinions wrong. There was a lot of work done on the effects of magnetism on the human body during the 60s by a gent who eventually won a Nobel prize on the subject. Although there is a lot of info to read I do believe that there is some merit in idea that the electromagnetic effects can bring about changes to the body. I just do not think they have found the exact science of how and why it could possibly work. But yeah, I think PB will fade without this as I do not think they will fid this evidence soon enough if it exists.
  11. I am not a Doctor (of Medicine ), but yes it does work if the cramps are caused by lactic acid. I have proven it enough times myself. The theory is this. You stomach is your primary acid reservoir with your body also having a certain amount of acid due to normal activities. Exercise at high levels of intensity produce lactic acid which CAN be ONE of the causes of cramps. When youu drink ENOs or eat rennies or any ant-acid it immediately bring down the pH in your stomach and your body reacts so as to restore this pH by pulling acids into the stomach from the body. One of these acids being the lactic acid in your muscle which are also buffered by the pH chain reaction. Sometimes cramps are caused by other things and then it will probably not work. Just be carefull on using ENOs and Rennies and such during long events as when you use them they tend to stop your stomach from digesting food efficiently and then you are likely to not want to eat more food and hence BONK.
  12. And exactly howe do you plan to link it up to the oscilliscope? Unless you get wireless ones nowadays.
  13. Hi Chris Need a deal on a house in Stellenbosch in Mostertsdrift. 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 3 garages, 2 living rooms, a dining room, large kitchen, study, lobby, fire places all round, heated swimming pool and an indoor braai and jaccuzzi. Oh and dont forget the bike room. Thanks!
  14. Those tests are as unscientific as the ones that sell the bands. We need proper scientific tests, whatever those may be. I think we can all agree on one thing, there are no proper tests to show anything either way. Very unscientific or repeatable.
  15. Cool, I walked into a shop the other day and asked for a DA 7800 and 7801 series pin. They guy looks at me funny. So I said, one pin with 2 grooves and one pin with 3 grooves please. He walks away confused and comes back with 2 pins with 2 grooves. Here you go sir, these will fit your DA chain. So I said, no, I need a 3 groove as well. He says, sir, all 10 speed chains use the same pins. I told him he needs to read up on his stuff as there are different thickness of DA 780x chains, etc. He tells me not to argue with him as he has been working in a LBS for 10 years and has never sold anything but the one pin. I walked out. No wonder guys break their chains around town.
  16. Yes, a Shimano one would do.
  17. You didn't use Unobtainium for that one did you?
  18. While we on the subject of chains, please make sure that when you buy pins for Shimano you make sure the shop knows that there are difference 10 speed pins and NOT one fits all 10 speed. You may just end up on the ground with a broken body and chain.
  19. There are also tests (n person) showing it does work. So how do we scientifically shoow either way. All I am saying is it not conclusive and nowhere has Power Balance stated it does not work. We gotta get the facts right as there is a clear difference between the 2.
  20. When you say chain links, youu mean plain old links or the quick link? If normal links, is the pin not going in or what?
  21. On the inside side of your left knee or inside the inside of your left knee? Sorry for the funny question, but it makes a difference.
  22. Not so sure I want one of those if that is what make you looney.
  23. I think if the sub-title was posted in Aus it would have to be taken off as there is no proof that the band is BS.
  24. So where is the knee pain and what exactly does it feel like?
