  1. I use to ride to school, remember the ride into Irene was always fun. And then even when I got my car I use to cycle to school in Lyttelton. Then things just got too much when I was riding my racing bike to school and caught 3 Grd 9 kids trying to cut my lock. Needles to say being a matric student who was always in trouble i was not worried about the disciplin . after I gave them the beating they would never forget! Needles to say they got into **** and I didnt Now I cycle from Centurion to Sunninghill everyday. Love commuting. Seeing all those frustrated people in traffic gives me joy when I get to the single tracks! And the hotties at the robots....wow. They make any crummy ride worth it!!
  2. There are no single female hubbers my age, not that I know of! Hahahaha So I guess this thread killed my day! hahaha
  3. Has anyone yet mentioned Pauline Ferrand Prevot??? Now I love Miss Batty, but this girl, wow. European girls just have that something extra special about them!! Hence my love for the French!
  4. AAAAANND I dont know any of your lights yet...thats the prob with this pic
  5. When I get my extreme lights next month Ill show you what GP has to offer on a 30km commute! riding from 4:30 - 6pm in winter! Best sunsets!
  6. So i spent some time in paris and London last year. I used the charge n ride bikes they have, works amazingly well! 1euro to use a bike and you can ride ir all over and then park it. My issue is that , well....this is not Europe or UK. The bikes will be stolen, trashed and the money points broken and damaged to steal the money. As for Taxi's well. I have been clipped a number of times, I commute every 2nd day from centurion to sandton and home, in summer and winter. So lets just say that GP is DEFFINATELY not ready for this. JMPD has no respect for cyclists either as I found out last week cycling home, nearly got taken out by Mr Pig in his GTI and no lights or siren I would love to believe that GP is ready for this , but i have no faith in the ANC, so I have no faith in this working in GP. Which is a huge pity. I would rather have gautrain allow commuters to be able to bring their bikes onto the train as they do in europe. https://www.google.co.za/search?q=european+trains+for+cyclists&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=pNV9U6GdErCg7Aa8uYC4CQ&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1440&bih=775#facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=qoeI3V7d5eWYYM%253A%3B6gTAhGiOZcYmyM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.adventurecycling.org%252Fdefault%252Fassets%252FImage%252FAC_Online%252FJoe%252520Morris%252FIMG_0664.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.adventurecycling.org%252Fadventure-cyclist%252Fonline-features%252Ftour-it-yourself-cycling-in-europe%252F%3B300%3B400

Hahahaha Maybe find a runner up to her if i dont manage the above;) Brunette if possible..... Know of any HOT Brunette Canadian cyclists aged 25-30???
  9. Good Morning all!! Hope you all voted EFF yesterday, ca only see good things coming from them....HAHAHAHAHA SO SO glad to see this post as my first has brought up so many different views. And I am glad it’s all constructive! Thanks everyone and I hope we can keep it up a little longer. So, as said I gave class at the park yesterday day morning. And I was very happy to see the the Green and Blue and some of the Black trails were all getting some TLC! And the bridge going to the other side of the park (under the high way) is also getting a face lift. Which I feel is progress in the right way. I agree with everyone that the indemnity forms at the park (which you still fill out) are not 100% safe for the park. What we need to remember is that it is up to riders and responsible parents to keep an eye on their youngsters. As for people riding in slops and without helmets. I have no issue seeing them fall their faces off... I mean really. The park has designated kiddie’s areas and I feel that those areas are perfect. I even use them for my real beginner clients. The boards above entrances state difficulty levels to riders. These riders who are looking to improve their skills should be there, BUT. They should know there are capable riders on those tracks and should expect confrontation if the riders are put into a dangerous situation. (If i was riding a bridge and had a small unattended child infromt of me, I’ll try my best not to mow them down, but I did buy a 29er for a reason ) KIDDING! I feel the KZN, WC has the best riding due to all the mountains and yes I would rather ride there. But i live in GP and feel that the parks should try and accommodate to riders who enjoy the technical stuff. Fountains (My home playground) is an amazing place. It has it all except the high bridges. But they have bridges. **Would riders feel safer if bridges had side rails protecting you from falling off the edges?**
  10. So I have noticed driving past the PWC bike park for a while now that their bridges were removed... This to me was rather disappointing as these were the main reason I rode at the park. I decided to mail them this morning an enqire why these were removed and their responce was not a real surprise. Kids and Begginers who had very little or NO technical riding skill had been falling off and getting hurt. (This on BLACK Diamond sections) Not treating these obsticles with respect. Now this to me is still not fair to those of us who are more that accomplished at riding these obsticles. We now have to resort to riding the kiddie areas and dealing with upset parents and slower riders? I have nothing against begginers looking to up thier skill levels as I often give skills class's at PWC. But now there is nothing for more experienced riders to test their skills on anymore. The fact that parents allow their kids to "go mad" in a safe bike park is irrisposible as they are aware of the dangers. Bike parks create Green, Blue and Black routes for a reason. And riding at such parks are at your own risk. So I feel it unfair to PWC that they are losing clients for other clients mistakes. I myself have been injured after falling at the park, needing stitches, but I still came back and rode as MTB is a High Risk sport and its not the parks fault for my mistakes. In conclusion: I would like to request fellow readers who enjoyed the challenge of riding the bridges and Black Diamond sections to give me some constructive feedback and their views on the subject. Also I would like begginers to give me their thoughts of the park. I will be riding there tomorrow morning and giving the park back some feedback on this subject.
  11. I fully understand the point made for helmets. Vented helmets are not designed to support extra mounting on the vents. Even if the helmet has a Kevlar skeleton. Full Face DH or Motorbike helmets I can understand. Chest mounting I can "Kind of" see causing an issue. If you eat dirt and the monting is on your sternum and that breaks...you could land in serious trouble...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sternal_fracture So if anything, mount on the bike, I agree. You have paid R5k on a camera, but health and saftey first. Also see http://www.uci.ch/templates/BUILTIN-NOFRAMES/Template1/layout.asp?MenuId=MTY2NjU&LangId=1 Part IV: MTB Ride Safe peeps!
  12. Sooooo. From tomorrow I start commuting to work. 30km from Centurion to Sunninghill (Sandton) and back. My only issue is the amount of dam taxi's coming and going from Olivenhoudsbosh.... I have had my fair share of clippings, the worst by a putco bus. So heres to hoping it does not happen again. I will be using Princess Sophia my Flash 29er. I wont lie, looking at all the girls in traffic sure will be a bonus to me So thanks to everyone who has posted what not to forget and what to keep spare! And ill be sure to wave to anyone commuting !!
  13. 2013 Scalpels will still retail for 50K or more...totally a legit sale...hahahaha NOOT!!
  14. Something I would never live down... I rode my first Berg and Bush back in 2012. I was racing for a team back then (Not naming them) for obviuos reasons.... It was day 1, I had changed wheels with a fellow racer who was aimimg to win the Mixed Cat. So after fixing the puncture my tream mate and I paced to regain our place in the race. At the 50km (or so) mark decending Bezuidenhouds Pass at 65km/h, thinking im "THE MAN" I hit a rock... Needless to say I do not remember anything after that. I woke up 15mins later in serious agony. I had broken 3 fingers, fractured my wrist and whiplashed my head so hard my helmet was trashed.....So it goes to prove, even if your a sponsored athlete, rocks will still ambush you when you least expect it. Team mate never lets me forget it.

I have been getting treated for the past few months and I feel amazing!! Head aches are gone, flexibility is almost back to where is was. They are amazing!! 074 127 8700 - Brigitte Mileson!
  21. Ok so sit bones need o "be worked in" no denying that, and HTFU is on the cards unfortunately. BUT! A good set up is also very important. There is nopoint of u going and shitting bricks for 5-9hrs on a saddle when a small adjustment could make the world of change. Also, a Specialized Henge 143 would be what I would recommend, I know as i use to work for specialized...Im riding a Phenom 155, but i recently moved onto a Henge 143 and OMW! amazing difference! Just a thought*
