  1. Van Gaalens depends on where you ride will be fine. River is OUT, but the Valley and Meims is ok. Also the Greek Church area is ok. Dumped Rain yesterday but 2 days of sunshine should be ok except the River. Even the District Road yesterday was mud. Hennops, even better for no mud. Just takes 1 day to dry and 95% ok. Ale House is close to both so Pizza and Beer can be on the cards afterwards
  2. At the bottom of the frame there is a QR code and its serial number - This is the correct serial number, but as mine is a sticker it has already started fading from washing after 6 months. You will have to cover it with clear plastic coating like the stuff you use to protect the frame. I could not find any way to register the bike for south africa, and the link sent is for Australia, of which you can't select Gauteng, or Western cape in the drop down, so I doubt it can be used. I do know warranty is done through your LBS and it goes to the below people in South Africa CYTEK CYCLE DISTRIBUTOR CC Headquarters: South Africa Phone: +27-21-8520509 Fax: +27-21-8519562 info@merida.co.za

Let me know when, You never know I may pop along with a cooler box of cold beers to help with your hydration......
  4. Hi, I have the i-flow with the white blue (T1932) head unit. I am also lucky to have a separate laptop with a full licence running (not connected to the internet anymore), so my trainer is working well during lockdown. Saying that the guys without a licence may want to look into these 2 guys solutions. The FortiousAnt one was quite a nice simply solution that enables you to connect to Zwift. Basically takes the USB cable data from the headunit and converts it to Ant+. You can also run in manual mode with the up down buttons to increase and decrease power. I had success connecting to zwift and did 3 rides. I felt the power calibration was not right though. They have improved it more, but being the older i-flow brake unit, I don't think mine is 100% compatible. They do support the i-magic and Fortious. They are also very helpful if you email them. https://github.com/WouterJD/FortiusANT This guy built a physical unit to run in manual mode or connect to zwift where he also converts the power from the USB cable to ANT+. Really liked his solution, but you have to build it yourself. He used a garmin speed/cadence sensor so it was really just the power that he had to convert to ANT+ http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/index.php?/topic/131123-old-tacx-flow-into-smart-trainer/&tab=comments#comment-1871046 Hope this helps breath new life into the old trainers that Tacx is no longer willing to help with.
  5. Great. When i posted my mind was still thinking in/lbs so 40nm is more than enough
  6. Looks like Santa will be shopping soon :-)
  7. Thanx I saw that one. So far it looks like it is the best buy
  8. What are the best value for money wrenches out there. It seems one would need to get 2 different ones. One to cater for the 2Nm to 40Nm then 40Nm and up passed 100Nm. Most bolts require quite a lower number, which=le some of the suspension bolts require a 100Nm. Lastly are the Digital Torque Wrench Adaptors worth looking at?
  9. Most of the kids are in the Harties area so ride lots of the routes there. They also built a proper cross country track that got used for the NW XCO Champs last year. Unfortunately the motor bike guys have ruined half of it. when I say built I really mean they took spades etc and built the track. Was crazy technical in some spots, with names like the chain breaker and long drop and VO2max sections. They also all use indoor trainers etc. This is their other play ground which again they build. About a year ago so they should have quite a bit more done. You can stand and watch these kids all day and their play.
  10. I know a lot of the sponsors won't even look at the kids while they are still at school, so this is a great chance for them. In order to get some sort of recognition they ride things like the SA Champs, African Champs etc. Cost a lot of money to travel around the country. If they are not out training on weekends they are down at the jump bike park they built themselves in Harties. You would be shocked what they built. table tops and all. Beats play station for sure, although some of the video's posted by my nephew must give his parents grey hairs..... Jump bikes are tough machines that's all I can say.
  11. Yeah just don't ride with the young guns. Make you look like 90yrs old the way they ride their bikes.....
  12. These kids work hard at school, but instead of doing sports like rugby or soccer at school they train for MTB (Lucky the school sees it as a sport). LCB racing works like a normal Pro team. It is not parents buying their kids fancy bikes/gear. You have to earn your place in the team and keep earning it to stay in the team. No results and your out. They get the bikes on race weekends and hand them back afterwards. They belong to the team owner. LCB Racing was created to help young guys/girls develop and grow in the sport. For a change it is to see a private company sponsoring the youth. They train damn hard, and there is some extremely talented kids in the team. Instead of my nephew hitting the pubs (yes he is just legal) he is training on weekends or racing. Same goes for the rest of the team members. Just keep an eye out on the podiums at races in NW and Gauteng mostly (marathon and XCO) and I bet you will start seeing a lot more LCB guys/girls. PS I don't own the team and even if my nephew was not in it I would support it.
  13. Those 3 guys are part of the LCB Racing Team, not Spez sponsored. All young guys at school. The guy in the blue/yellow chatting instead of racing my nephew started 22nd in that race and was already up to the front after the first corner. And NO uncle did not buy the bike for him... I can't even afford those shoe laces :-( Those guys train damn hard. way more dedicated than me.
  14. But sometimes even a 1000 post can bring up a roach :-)

  20. When will she learn to clean up ha ha. Beer was awesome at the end
  21. There you have it. You will roll faster, but ONLY when your doing Cross Country........ Any other type of riding and you will roll slower
  22. Gets you to the pub faster
  23. Wonder if that Ikon was an exo?
  24. You should know as a Scotsman I went for the lowest..... I think one I had was 580 something but that could be the one that got a puncture on the 2nd ride......... I have a new one in the box at home will weigh it tonight and give feedback. The last scale I had was a little dodgy
  25. This is starting to turn into Mine is............... It is strange especially if you watch their video on how they make the tires and how they brag at quality control.
