  1. Samsung S3 - Majick Forest area.
  2. Samsung S3 - from the Silvermine area looking down...
  3. 600 bucks a month. Join cadence for that. Short term committment and you can see actual figures as to whether you are improving or not. Just a thought...
  4. I think day 2 and 3 are from the same camp. But will leave confirmation to someone that has ridden it... Edit: What Beanz said :-)
  5. Spreadsheet updated with the following events: Swazi Frontier, Ride the Rock, Imana Wild Ride and Cape Outback. Some of the events lack a bit of detail on the websites - so use the list as a guide - not fact
  6. On my list to do as well. Come to think of it, I also have a birthday next yeat
  7. R684 - just think, after a year of paying that you could replace the Gruppo on one of the bikes with the money you have spent. I love the way insurance companies want us to mitigate their risk. They want us to upgrade all the security, they want us to ensure it's never left unattended and then they want us to pay more money each month - just to reduce the chane that they have to pay out! Come on insurance guys, that's why we want insurance. If I store my bike in a steel room all the time I wouldn't need insurance! Monday rant off ;-) Most bicycle specific insurance companies charge around the R100 mark for a R20k bike. So, shop around, you can save a bundle.
  8. lol - nothing but good service from these guys for me...
  9. Think it is around R100 for a R20k bike. Probably a little more expensive than bicycle specific insurance? But I prefer having a single point of contact for if/when something goes wrong. (If the house is broken into the last thing I want to be doing is going to 2 or 3 different insurance copmpanies to try get my money). Maybe that's a risk having all my eggs in one basket - but I havn't had a reason to change it to date.
  10. I've got my bike as a specified item on my Santam policy. Covered for everything mentioned so far (transport, garage, races, on-car damage etc). It does have to be locked if unattened - but I've yet to see a policy that says it doesn't. Have had one claim when the derailuer was damaged on a flight - claimed and payed in within 2 days.
  11. So who did you move to? All insurance companies that I've investigated have it in their fine print that the bike needs to be locked otherwise it is not covered for theft. So, would be interested to know which companies don't have this as a specification. G

    Argus 2014

add the grape escape to list - that's a decent week of cycling ;-)
  13. Not sure if the website has been recently changed, but the 2013 constitution is available... http://www.tygerbergmtb.co.za/about-us/constitution.html
  14. For those Gents and Gals that are giving this one a skip due to congestion etc, take note of the changes below. This should help a fair bit, but probably won't fix it totally. The fact that the long and short riders don't meet up until the last 200 meters is GREAT news! The following steps have been taken: • 10 minute gaps between start groups (instead of 5min) to give riders a chance to spread out before they hit the singletrack. . There are also 5 groups in the 42km (not 4) with less riders per group. • Helshoogte Neutral Zone Riders will ‘tag-out’ before the Helshoogte Singletrack and ‘tag-in’ again after crossing Helshoogte Pass, and the 'neutral zone' times will be taken in consideration of final results. Please note that results on the day are provisional and that the winners are still determined by the rider who is ‘first over the line’ in each respective group. • Long distance riders will only meet the shorter distance riders about 200m before the finish, not in the river singletrack as in previous years All riders must keep in mind that it is a mass participation event, that give all levels an opportunity to ride the beautiful trails on private farms around Stellenbosch. We appreciate your co-operation, patience & courtesy on the trails – may all have an enjoyable ride!
  15. Cool - thanks for the clarification. What I was after was whether the frame was sprayed there (China) or here (SA). Looks like China... Cheers
  16. Is this yours Look695? Just wondering if the paint job was part of the original order or done locally? g
  17. Cheer Rouxtjie and Meezo for the replies. I based my statement of the following formula I found elsewhere on TheHub. (this may be out of date or incorrect though). However, assuming it is correct, reducing the overall bill by removing the shipping fee will reduce the VAT/Customs fee. It's good to hear that this is an option. The steps to calculate the total duties and VAT are: Calculate the Rand (ZAR) value of the invoice (including shipping). This should be done by converting the foreign amount (INV) into ZAR using the SARS exchange rate (ROE) for the date of export. This is the customs value. Calculate the import duties, using the amounts in Capricorn's list (ID%), based on customs value. These are the Duties (D). Add 10% to the customs value from step 1. Multiply this new value by 14% to get the VAT amount for the goods. Add 10% to the Duties value from step 2. Multiply this new value by 14% to get the VAT amount for the duties. Add the Duties amount from step 2 to the two VAT amounts from steps 3 and 4 to get a the total amount payable to SARS. Add the clearing fee (usualy R25 for SAPO and R100 for UPS) to the step 5 value to get the total amount you have to pay. 18. Just a query on shipping: has anyone broached the subject with the dealers to bill the shipping seperately? This would reduce the overall import/duty fees. Or would this be illegal? Thanks

  20. Thanks for that - i thought I had used team prices for all events. I'll double check and amend as needed. Cheers
  21. Where the pic's???? Bring 'em on!
  22. At those prices, you're pretty much guaranteed a 'lucky draw' prize 'cause there are only going to be 20 entries Just hope the lucky draw items make it worth while
  23. From the website it appears the entry fee has been reduced to R250. Still too steep for my pocket.
  24. added. Seems like a well priced option. You done it? Feedback?
  25. All added...
