  1. All added...
  2. Happy to add it. Do they have a website? g
  3. Any idea of the costs?
  4. That's exactly where this list comes from We did Sani last year. Would love to do it again but can't afford to do it and others. So the list was there so we can see where we could get most value for money. Some people will interpret 'value' differently though. Is it more km's of riding or more km of climbing or just the fact that you are away for a weekend with a bit of riding (like the Tour of Legends where there is only around 60KM of riding a day but everything from laundry through to massages are included in costs).
  5. Yeah - Anywhere from R15 to R35 per kilometer ridden When all the 2014 prices come out I would guess the average will be around R20 per KM...
  6. Hi Not sure when last this was done but attached is a list of the most popular stages in and around South Africa. The list includes the month the event takes place in, how many days of riding there is, current cost of the event and a cost per kilometre summary column. (As well as some other info if available e.g. total ascent, start / end location etc). Obviously not all events are created equally - what is include at some events won't be included at others; the cost per kilometre is just a general indicator. Where both team and single entries are available, the cost of the team entry has been used (just so we can compare apples with apples). Events where accommodation is not included have been highlighted. Costs are mostly as per the 2013 entry fee. Where 2014 rates are available they have been used (again these exceptions have been highlighted). If there are any events not on the list, post the name/website and I can happily add them. 7. Loose weight. (You know you’ve got some to loose). A couple kilograms lighter makes a big difference. Loose 5 kgs or more and you will feel like you can ride like Sauser up the hills.
  8. I take magnesium supplements daily. I'm still working towards carb free rides - yesterday was 80km with water and one energy gel. Just water is the end goal...
  9. I'll be there in spirit. 'Pops' - you are sorely missed. G
  10. Sounds like a good ride. Do you know if non-PPA members will get an official time? I'm happy to pay the extra as a non-member but don't like the idea that I don't get a time. (Not because I plan on wining it rather for future seeding etc).
  11. Don't get ride of it too quickly. I've had decent results from it. You just need to play around a bit - make sure it is pretty tight on your chest. Make sure the base plate is flush against your body. Also, if wearing a camelback, tighten the camelback straps over your chesty mount. Anything that keeps it tight against your body will improve the stability. But obviously, if you are bombing down a rock garden, your video is going to bounce :-)
  12. From the offical website (http://www.acecosportgroup.com/distributors) the south african distributor is as follows: SOUTH AFRICA - DISTRIBUTOR Trisave - Hamada Cape Town, South Africa Tel: +27 (0)21 4477030 dirkpieper@trisave.co.za Contact them directly to find out who stocks in your area.
  13. you can get some of the K-edge from CWCycles. They are online if you aren't in Cape Town. They don't have the full range but I think they have the handle bar and saddle mount. (Saddle mount is great!) As for editing software: if you want an easy, point and click package, you can't go wrong with photoshop elements 11 (not free). No need to convert the video files before editing, import is pretty much instantaneous and it is almost a one click export to youtube, dvd, pc etc.
  14. Does anyone know if the videos shown at the race briefings of the days riding is available to download/purchase?
  15. Partner and I had a decent base - but even without it I think we would have been OK. We started about 10 weeks out - aimed for around 8 hours riding per week. I think we only exceeded that once and in general averaged about 7 hours per week. The weekly breakdown was generally 3 rides: 2 x 1.5 hour high effort rides in the evenings and then a 4 hour weekend ride at cruising pace (tried to include a fair bit of climbing during the weekend rides).. We had no issues come race days. Finished up around the 16 hour mark. G
  16. screenshot of 'the dive'. Not my photo so credit to the original photag. I'm sure someone will have the original - classic photo!
  17. For those that want one ASAP: 599 dollars = around R5300 http://www.ebay.com/...2325aec767#shId free shipping to South Africa. Not saying it's a better deal and doesn't take into account any of the issues of buying items from overseas. All I'm saying is it's available now if you want it (well within 7 days delivery). G
  18. yep - rode in Bellville. It was, uhh, challenging!
  19. Seeding for the longer races done based on results from these events: Die Burger 2011, Lourensford and Stallwater.
  20. From the website: You must wear an AmaRider tag to be timed for this event. More money to shell out... Edit: I see a temporary one will be provided (cost covered in entry fee). Apologies Dirtopia
  21. Not me Mine was the 5th highest bid, but 'RaceFace' got two bids in. Nothing against in the rules - not arguing, just saying...
  22. I must admit, before the start of the race, my money was on Burry (but heart was with KE/DG). I think Burry is top class - world class in fact. But the statements that 36one are in a 'completely different league' is a bit harsh I think? 13 seconds difference on the prologue, 2 seconds on stage 2 and 1 second on stage 3? Doesn't strike me as worlds apart? G
