  1. Little-Ben, good luck dude. Good luck to all the other Hubbers riding as well.
  2. Very nice looking bike Alida, enjoy it .
  3. MWNN, I must admit that the issue you raise are also things I was wondering about. When I saw the scope of the highway upgrading project alone I wondered about the funding. I know that they will become toll roads but the payback period must be extremely long term and I also wonder if the country can afford it. However if you factor in the loss in national productivity in having that many vehicles taking so long to get from A to B as it does at the moment then there must be a big justification built in there. If you could save 30 minutes for each car or truck travelling on the N1/N3 around JHB every day there must be considerable savings. Anyway interesting points especially the labour issue, after Gautrain, 2010 and the highway projects are wrapped up I can't see many other big ones on the horizon. Mines are also scaling down so there are going to be lots or workers looking for jobs in a few years time.
  4. Well we have had Hubbers building bridges on the Spruit so I am sure if things get really tight there we could organise a Hubbers tunnel digging weekend. How far do you think we could dig in one weekend?
  5. Thanks guys, I had forgotten about this thread with all the excitement of the 24hr. Good to hear that at least there are some people left in the country with an optimistic outlook. Now Nancy go get your spade and get digging !!!
  6. That is one big problem with riding solo, you miss out on all the vibe and fun of the 24hr. Last year was huge fun with lot's of friends visiting, this year it is all just a blur of lap after lap of pain but at least the friends were all still there.
  7. Jeez there was carnage in daylight, you want to try it again?
  8. Great pics Thuggie. I vote for Nancy Drew as Hub Ride organiser of the year. For a mere R20 contribution we got safe and organised parking, coffee, rusks, hot cross buns, muffins and bananas on arrival and cool drinks and the pool to cool off in when we got back. Thanks N.D. Great ride guys, bit harder than I expected but a good workout.
  9. Unfortuantely Sonic won't be able to make it. He still has whiplash from the bike park crash and when he rode on Thursday he has made it worse. He has now been strapped up by the physio and shouldn't be riding. On the other hand I will be there in full force, I have even grown the hairs on my legs so that I fit in with the MTB crowd . Nancy put the kettle on.
  10. Are those Vento decals the normal ones or did you do them yourself?
  11. Hey Tazman welcome back! Really cool looking bike, have you started training again?
  12. Nah, not this time, maybe I should ask Jules if I can borrow his Cyclo Cross Bike . Probably too big for me though. IanJ2008-11-27 13:03:35
  13. Cool, looking forward to it.
  14. Only if you are serving coffee before we start . Only kidding, see you dudes Sunday, without the booties and the timing chips. It is base training now anyway.
  15. Nope, White. I do ride for TCS you know.
  16. Hey, I only do serious rides. Ask The Thug.
  17. When are you doing the seeding run and announcing start groups? Which timing chip is it and how many water points will the be?
  18. Was going to say the same thing, was it consistenly at that level or just a single reading spike if it was a spike it could be interference. There is a electrical substation at the side of the car park, was it always in the same location? My Garmin HR seems pretty accurate, just my cadence sensor that won't pair with the 705 since I replaced the sensor battery.
  19. Have you checked your Shpongle, it might be faulty.
  20. Pics are really cool and the whole commuting thing is the way to go. Just a pity we aren't geared up for it here. I would think it won't be so lekker when the snow starts melting and turns to muddy slush .
  21. Good idea, I think every Tom, Dick and Harry with a MTB will be heading that way .
  22. Ok sorry Nancy Drew but you posted directions from JHB South, North and Pretoria but not Bryanston. How do I get there?
