    Stolen Bikes

I'm also not sure that the average bike jacker knows the difference between a cheap and expensive bike.
  2. In that case I'm wearing my darkest shades.
  3. under your baggies' date=' yes. [/quote'] am gonna wear mine over my baggies well, you have to do something to improve your looks. I suppose we should be thankful that he is wearing anything at all .
  4. I will be there and probably Sonic. Are we allowed to wear lycra?
  5. Good luck with the recovery. Get well soon.
  6. We also have ships:
  7. Nice pics by the way, looks like some serious descents there. We will try join you on the next one.
  8. Nope I am in JHB, 1400 is a good turnout, was just that in the photos it seemed that the bunches were quite small so I was interested to know. Seems like you at least had good weather. Nice photos as usual Ronelle.
  9. Slightly off topic and just out of interest, the bunches seem quite small. How many entries were there and is it normal for Cape Town races?
  10. I would loove to crack a sub 2:30. Fitter than I have been before so hopefully if the VD bunch plays the game we should be ok. Don't forget the route is slightly easier this year with a shorter climb up Witkoppen and the nasty bump near Northgate excluded. They have been replaced with the flat inner city loop. Just watch for crashes on the tight corners. Edit: and the finish is not to the right up the hill it is now in the main road (R55) where it was two years ago (so you will save at least 30sec there ). 11. Am interested ? only seeded CC. But that is not a fair reflection. Cycle Challenge' date=' with their indices calculations, did not include the cape races, except the Argus, despite having promised to include all long league races of the cape. This gives a serious advantage to the Gautenger?s whose local races are mostly included in the seeding. Only started cycling a year ago but have done all the race I could. Presently seeded in the <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Cape at an indices of +-28. Have been practicing during winter. So 3h10 seems good to me. Might catch-up with you. Will be wearing my Cape Town Outrider kit = blue + white. [/quote'] Have you spoken to them? Mail the organisers your race results and ask to be reseeded. I know of a few guys that have done that.
  12. Have you got the new route with the inner city loop and cutting off Northumberland?
  13. Does it happen if you freewheel for it bit and then start pedalling again? I have had that problem before when the freewheel mechanism was worn.
  14. Just you Mark. Post your number here and we'll see if we can sort it out for you.
  15. The new rapid transport bus system being implemented in JHB is supposed to be incorporating bike racks on busses. Saw a document somewhere, will try look for it.
  16. Um zeepee, scroll up a bit.
  17. Very interesting, there are always two sides to a story. I also wonder sometimes when you hear these stories on the radio, they somehow do not sound plausible. Isn't there some onus on the radio station to try to get both sides comments before going on air with a one sided view. I also apologise about my comments knowing now the true facts around the story.
  18. On the way back from the Amashova my bike came loose on the roof carrier (velcro strap broke) and swung around and crashed into the back of my car. Luckily it was still attached by the front fork. End result was a smashed chainring and carbon bars broken. Could have been a lot worse. Anyway dropped the bike off at Northcliff cycles at 9am yesterday and also asked them to service the bike. Had a quote from them by 9:30, faxed the claim form and quote to Cyclesure and by 2pm Cyclesure had given the go ahead to fix it. Spoke to Alex during the afternoon and he was waiting for the new bars to arrive. He told me they would stay at the shop until it was fixed. I went round to the shop at 7pm and it was all ready. When I got there Ruan (sp), the mechanic said that my STI's were too low and should he adjust them. I told him to go ahead and with one thing leading to another he ended up stripping and servicing one STI and replacing my chain which was worn. We eventually left there at 8:30 pm after having one of Alex's legendary cappucino's. Thanks to all concerned and I can recommend them anytime.
  19. This kind of behaviour is just not acceptable! It should be dealt with at club level, they must be kicked out of their clubs, and banned from joining another. They must also not be allowed to get any form of cycling licence to compete. We don't need these guys in our sport, it is hard enough on the roads without the added harassment.
  20. www.actionphoto.co.za but don't rush there, so far there is one of me and it is the crappiest photo I have ever seen. I think a four year old with crayons could have done a better job.
  21. http://www.supersport.co.za/cycling/ Works for me.
  22. In that case it would be back to Ou Kaapse weg I presume?
  23. It seems the N1 highway is the favourite escape route. Once they get onto the highway they can run against the flow of traffic and it is very difficult to follow them. My guess would be they then head up towards Alex and dissapear into the township. In Ali's case that area has long been a hijack hotspot with lots of vagrants living in the bush. I thought that with the clearing and fencing of the bike park it would have improved. The whole of Main Road down towards Lonehill is still a no go area, I have personally witnessed several smash and grabs at the robot cnr of Witkoppen and Main.
