  1. HR - No can do Sunday unfortunately! Damn. No way you can come Saturday? MichH - I will e-mail you the 2007 route first thing Monday morning, it would be great if you could join us on Saturday morning. As for you the earlier the better for us, how about 6:00 or is that 'too' early? SlowPoke - How long still .......... Mandibles - Worst case will go with the Google option but I remember from before it can be painful to get it sorted into something useful for GPS but can be done. Anyone else comin ........ hello Scotty/Thug/DR/Lil DR/Mrs DR/Lulu/Daemon/OX !
  2. OK so I tried in the 24 hour 'tread' but no takers! Anyone know the farm well enough to take us hubba's around the proposed route next week Saturday morning early? Could also be a cool hubba get together of all those riding the 24 hour to get to meet one another before the actual event!
  3. Goofs, that must be becasue you're male. I get looked at down the nose as if I'm some sort of bug. And this is after races, during a race I can understand being competitive. Why can't the pro girls be grateful for their talent and treat others who come in five minutes after them with at least some resepect. Okay, my rant is over....I think!! Sometimes I wish I was a guy, on the playing field it's all aggression but after a race they all have a beer together!! Hey WW, I don't drink but if I did I would invite you
  4. Mud's - your boss needs to reign you in a bit huh? Not got much to do I see
  5. In my laaities AM Classic MTB wheels generic works that's all I know!
Kyk as jy voel hy strip moet jy net so halwe draai terug vang want dan was dit te ver! Spot net boet, ek maak net lekker vas, nog nooit probleme gehad nie.
  8. BackLash - Just as a matter of interest where did you get the Elvis stuff from?
  9. IanJ - myself and LB are using them, LB did 'seperate' a chain with them (not easy but can be done!) and put it back together to replace some cranks and stuff. Not sure though if it will take multiple removals. Using them mostly as a 'stop gap' should a chain break on the ride (happened once, luckily carry one with us) and a lot easier than pinning it when doing a new build or changing something.
  10. Westi / Popeye - now go home this evening and just do your homework as I have described and report back tomorrow. It's not more than a 15min job per wheel. Pop's you should get all the new pads in and both of you should get your calipers aligned to your rotors if you follow that procedure - nuff said! Additionally Westi the XT rotors and Avid calipers are fine don't sweat it. Or should you not feel comfortable with my mechanical expertise or perhaps feel it necessary the official manuals are all available on the SRAM website as follows :- http://www.sram.com/en/service/avid/view.php?catID=1&subcatID=1 Moet net nie laat ek verder sukkel nie!
  11. Go the bearing shop route probably cost you a 1/3 of the price if not less! That's my experience with the bearings for the pivot of my horst link on my Specailized FSR XC I used to have as well as my sons American Classic MTB wheels. If you are reasonable 'mechanically' inclined it's not that difficult to remove and refit them. But it is important to get them out and either make sure you note the writing on the sides or at least take them with as a sample to ensure you get 100% the correct ones. Anecdotal and in my personal experience of course!
  12. Ok guys when it comes to compatibility its out of my league and as you know most (in fact all!) advice I give is anecdotal and in my personal experience so all standard disclaimers come into play! But Pop's that's how I've done both my Juicy 7's as well as my son's Juicy 5's more than once with no problem.
  13. Yip that's it, just ease it back slowly (don't want everything shooting out the top at the levers or something!). As per the earlier suggestion a tyre lever works well as it won't 'hurt' anything!
  14. popeye, did my son's Juicy 5's recently, you gotta remove the old pads, then push the 'pistons' as far back as they can go, they almost look flush with the caliper on both sides. Fit new pads (don't touch the pad breaking surface or the rotor!) , important to now put the wheel back, then re-center the caliper, i.e. loosen the bolts that hold them on, now here's a trick :- Use a cable tie to put full pressure on the brake lever then tighten the bolts. Cut the cable tie, give it a squeeze or 2 and now go out and do the breaking in procedure as required (10 hard stops from a good speed should do it!). worked for me!
  15. Westi - you may wanna specify make and model of brakes, I'm sure the sprocket rockets here need that to give advice! Just a thought, use it don't .........!
  16. [ Hey Big Mig! It's a scary small world. Insane! Thats why you have to be so careful that no-one sees you when you want to cause some chaos You so right - anyone remember me showing our new kit and a comment comes out (even worse it was spot on!) that 2 of us were seen 'disobeying' a red robot the previous Sunday - OUCH! Now I ride incognito (black pant and shirt etc. etc.)!
  17. Hey, you bring back some memories. I did enjoy it but chafed a bit on the rear end! Will use Shammy Cream this time for sure. Rode my HT (now yours!) and it was great! Will use the S-Works HT this year. Saw this recently :- Not technical except for the usual drop into the "tunnel 2" and one or two other areas where the trail has been effected and deepened by rainy conditions. The new single track sections will be challenging at night due to their winding/twisting nature. It looks like our route this year will be about 16km long with some new lovely singletrack sections. There will also be a "midway camp" with USN and other surprises.
  18. Hope it doesn't rain else you'll be lapping at home!
  19. Ewep - first you gotta aggressively ride the HT you got (not just once!) before you go on to an aggressive FS!
