  1. BTW - SP, how's the recovery going?
  2. JLDAM - just wondering if you can comment on the Firex issue? Shamefully in my own interest of course!
  3. HR - interesting your comments about the Firex. I have one of those on my HT and it did the same. I whipped it off last week and put some 'plumbers' tape on the bolt. Tightened it back up real tight and have now ridden 3 rides with no problem yet. Before that it worked its way loose within 10-15 minutes of riding! We'll see how it goes this week.
  4. Maybe this is 'petty' but if I have new tyres fitted it shows me if the mechanic cares if he places the tyre logo either at the valve or at a logo on the rim so that they both look the same!
  5. LBB says he doesn't notice he's just going faster but ja that's how it is when you're 17 and 'supple, nimble etc.'! Haven't had an opportunity to try for myself as he won't let me ride it, I paid for it for flips sake!
  6. Scotty - due to some changes in my close family I have had a rather more 'intimate' knowledge of what happens at bikeshops and it can frighten you to hear some of the stories! But ja seems Frans, Riaan and the boys know you well at TdF so no problem for you. Can I say 'The Scottster' sent me the next time I'm there and get a nice discount
  7. In bike shops defence - how often do cyclists come in and say I was JRA and such and such broke/stopped working etc. when it's quite obvious that they have fallen or done something stoopid? Guess that is why a good relationship is so important, they will know where/what kind of riding you do, how well you look after your bike and whether you can do routine/advanced maintenance or are just a hacker! Having said that an immediate 'it must be your fault' without some discussion about how it happened is never acceptable in my opinion!
  8. DR - bit uncomfortable typing with one hand?
  9. Just saw on bike radar that Cannondale have ended their sponsorship of Barloworld!
  10. Uuuuuuhhhhmmmm long weekend, SabieX pre-ride. 230k's, 5000m's of climbing in about 20hours of riding over 3 days in the most amazing setting. Interesting that on day 2 there was about 400m's of climbing in just 4k's (ouch!). Weary today!!!!!!!
  11. Ek wens ek het 'n borg gehad en was nie net 'team father' borg vir my laaitie nie! Maar ons is op pad Sabie toe vir 3 dae se lekker bergfiets ry so lyk my dinge is toe nie so erg nie!
  12. Hey boet you live more northerly these days, us southern boys have always stuck together!
  13. For the rest a "LittleBen" hidden in a cupboard somewhere. You so right !!!! Helps when he goes to school 4 hours in the morning and works the rest of the day in Justin's workshop. He is busy learning to build wheels, can only be beneficial (to me that is!).
  14. #1 requirement especially when it comes to gear adjustment and wheel truing is patience !
  15. The only useful Giant manufactured thing I found in the shop! Despite there being Trance X's and TCR's and OCR's and pumps and straps and who knows what all else they make.
  16. Bit like looking at a Harley Davidson fatboy, I can appreciate it's something special but wouldn't buy it for myself!
  17. Du ich bin echt Sud Afrikaner aber kan ein bisl Deutsch weil ich beim Siemens (jetzt Nokia Siemens) arbeiten! Gut is mein Deutsch bestimmt nicht aber wir koennen so was versuchen!
  18. Is it bran? I thought it was sawdust. The things we have to do to lose weight . Then I rather stay fat' date=' PERIOD! [/quote'] Good job you done mate !
  19. You're kidding? There were four of us out on the route- www.mypicture.co.za Doubt they'll be up yet though' date=' should be by tomorrow or Wed. [/quote'] Hah, no way! Crater and R4V stated to be up by last Friday but nothing doing yet.
  20. Is it bran? I thought it was sawdust. The things we have to do to lose weight . Ooops sorry mate, your description is far more accurate! That plus the 'blue pills' should just about do it (and nothing else that is!).
  21. Scotty - you never had a 'light' energy bar yet? No chocolate on that! Just some bran sort of 'glued' together.
  22. Uhmmm?? England?? No' date=' the English speaking part of Germany of course. [/quote'] Gibts so was?
  23. RS - do agree, will throw 'natural' stuff like banana peels and the like but take my wrappers home. Sometimes it's unpleasant - yesterday ate half a Jungle Lite energy bar and 'stuffed' the rest back in my pocket. When I got home (on an MTB technical ride BTW!) the left over bit had crept out of the wrapper and was all over my cell and the pocket. Washes out pretty easy so no harm done. Same goes for supergoo wrappers! But unfortunately I do skip robots occasionally!
