  1. So decided I am buying the new one at the discounted price and fitting it for the bling factor (and it hopefully shifts better and I go faster!) saving the old one for emergency spares!
  2. Sorry Mario but I don't take easily to those sort of 'blanket' comments! My son has Juicy 5's on his bike, no problem, my boet has ultimates and carbons and also no issue. I'll get it sorted!
  3. Does squealing make it easier and then once you're braking hard it's gone!
  4. I have a serious issue with noise from my rear disc brakes on both my bikes, one with Juicy 7's and the other with Magura Julies. It is almost llike the noise vibrates through the entire bike! Some advice already given but not yet tried :- Option 1 - pour alcohol (some may say that's a waste!) over each pad and light it, let it finish burning then (wait till it's cooled down of course) lightly sand the braking surface. Clean the rotors with alcohol (what 'alcohol' is best?) Option 2 - similar to option 1 but instead of the burning alcohol induced heat rather 'bake' them in a very hot oven for 1/2 an hour then lightly sand the braking surface. Clean the rotors with alcohol I want to do it tonight, just wondered which approach is best of these 2 (if any!) or are there other better options? The pads all have plenty of 'meat' and since you all know these aren't cheap the last resort would be new pads! Any advice would be welcome!
  5. Thought my 2 different SRAM shifters on an MTB was a problem but man that MTB stuff on a road bike, surely that is a serious faux pa!!!!!!
  6. And then there were 2, OK the re-enforcement of my correct decision is going well, thanks MichH!
  7. With such an overwhelming response to get the other new one I have finally cracked and ordered it (thanks Mud Dee!).
  8. Yip they have offered the other half seperately at a discounted price so that's not the problem, the question is 3 fold:- 1) Is it Ok to have the 2 different on 1 bike? Style not function! 2) Do I make them give me the same one I had? Principle! 3) I just wanna have the latest set on my bike!
  9. A while ago I had the unfortunate luck of breaking the plastic shifter section of a relatively new X9 left shifter. No problem SRAM through my LBS (kudos to my LBS and the SRAM agents!) replace it but ....................... they replace this with ..... .......... this more X0'esque, lighter better (no gear indicator window but no problem!) latest model ! SO I guess the question is now for 'style man/woman' types , do I take it and have the new left and old right? Should I want I could get it replaced with a new 'old' style (there is one waiting at the shop!) or ........................... if I want I could buy the latest 'other half' at a discounted price to have the latest set (do I get the feeling they have seen me coming again?)! Decisions decisions, oh what to do! My head is saying make those sods give me the old style as I had, but my heart is saying get that fancy new other half! Please help!
  10. Thanks all! Will find it no problem now! New bike = +15% performance at least so it could get ugly out there!
  11. Hey Thug, Sure does, remember the piece up to Emmerentia well from my Ironman days paddling with Dabulamanzi! Will still follow the GPS from there just in case. Cheers!
  12. OK so I'm in!!!! Woooohoooooo can't wait. Can anyone give me some directions to Fratelli's on Conrad drive from Alberton? Or at least the nearest crossing so that I can find it with my GPS? Thanks!
  13. OK Sunday no go! It could get ugly if I go and ride Mothers day afternoon. I might lose my other .................... Saturday uuuuuhhhhmmmmm, wife off to a baby shower, now there's an opportunity! What time u wanna ride, start point and for how long?
  14. I have also had some close encounters and it mostly is because they will react in an unpredictable manner when they finally notice you coming! I guess a good case for mounting a bell?
  15. 100% cheaper would be free, nice!
  16. Once seen a rule that said :- Only thy first bike shall be from Cajees!
  17. Hey Grapkas, well done on being picked. Like you say stuff the politics and why who was picked. You're in, go and do the best you can! Best of luck.
