  1. Cue DR - 'that looks like a Raleigh!" OK so not! Like you said before Minty, why not just have a link to that photo each time this discussion comes up? Save you and TI a lot of time!
  2. I have just published the full results for XC and DH on www.flatdogs.co.za enjoy!
  3. 18th year, 10 Canoe Ironman, 2 Ultraman, 4 Argus (before I found out MTB was much more fun!), 5 Barberton challenge, 2 Sabie Experience, 1 vets Midvaal cycle tour (never again, these roadie okes are mean!), 3 94.7, 3 R4V, 4 24 hour team relay ................. and I only started riding without underwear about 7 or 8 years ago! Scotty you right it is catchy and I don't have to drag myself out of bed to go and ride at 5 am, I want to!
  4. Not sure this will help but my son loves the Terralogic but I prefer the Reba!
  5. Ewep - that'll be a while ................................................................ for the powermeter prices to drop that is! Marius - I won't argue that point as I have noticed similar issues with HR but as I recall and from many other peoples comments you are a seriously competitive cyclist!
  6. Been wondering recently about 'power meters', seems to me now that everyone has a HRM they need to sell something else? Are they really necessary for anyone but seriously competitive and pro cyclists? Guess the same with elliptical rings? Will they help average Joe/Scotty/Ewep much? Having said that, if you can afford it, worked hard for your money and that's what you want to spend it on then what the hell go for it!
  7. Seems to me the only difference now is that the 'elliptical' is adjustable, or am I missing something?
  8. And by looking at their kit you're doing a hell of a job! Just thinking about what I could ride were I not also managing/financing/transporting/coaching/educating Little Ben (Aka Byron)? Dreams, but hopefully all this will lead to something good for the little (ok so not so little!) guy and he makes a success of it. I know that many other parents have or are going through this so ja I'll just hang in there. Not that I'm riding too bad stuff mind you!
  9. I've been riding with X.9 shifters for 2 years now and no problems! Those with an X.0 RD will be really schweet! Pity I could only afford the X.7 but hey I am 'sweet talking' the wife that I need an X.9 RD for my B/Day in May, you never know!
  10. Have used FiT products for some time now, don't train on it as it costs too much! Train on water/Energade/Powerade/ whatever is in the fridge combined with Bananas and or PVM energy bars. Use Duratrain as a recovery drink but only for multi day events (Midvaal vets tour last year, Sabie experience) and on tough weekends like the last one (Barberton 79k MTB Saturday, Fast one Sunday). Use Carbo Supreme for racing together with Supergoos (at a long/ multi day event I'll take either additional Bananas or maybe those Jungle big biscuits just to vary the taste/texture a bit!). Interesting that my son does all of that but doesn't like the Supergoos, prefers the Enervite one's.
  11. Saw 1 or 2 in the junkmail this morning
  12. Normally if someone says size doesn't matter it involves a small .........
  13. Wasn't a Junior on Nellmapius drive that gave her the finger Just wondered! Oh sorry forgot that it was OK!
  14. I must agree that like with property (3 crucial elements I heard, location, location and location) that there 3 crucial elements to consider, size, size and size (also buy the best components you can afford!).
  15. When I'm training I couldn't give a rat's a$$ who slips me for whatever reason. I just make sure that my training goal is still reached otherwise whateva mate! On the other hand in a race I have been known to get a bit naar when someone slips most or all of the way with out working and then sprints past me at the end! Now that does pi$$ me off!
  16. Exactly why I took the canoe option, at least in a canoe if you got tired you could just float around, when you swim, if you tired you stop swimming you drown!
  17. Yip, Rockley Montgomery was there in my early years, then Henk came along, Ben Jansen van Vuuren (probably the friendliest Triathlete I ever met!) and even Nick Bester (probably exactly the opposite of Ben but ja that was only my experience!). Eddie was before my time though! Went through the Hartebeespoortdam original Ironman with Hekpoort etc. through the one to Sun City and finally off to Vanderbijlpark. Managed a silver at the Vanderbijlpark one in 1999, did it all in the run! Yes I was once helped by some friendly okes on a cat to get back in (sssshhhh though remember no outside assistance was allowed!).
  18. Flip SwissVan did you braing back some memories for me now! I did 10 canoe Ironman races (1991-2000) and I did a hell of a lot of swimming in that time, sometimes long way to the bank to get back in! Paddled a Chepel at the end that needed just the hint of instability by the paddler and you were out! When you were at speed though it cut through the water like a hot knife though butter. Can only remember maybe 2 or 3 times where I actually managed to get back in after falling out without swimming to the bank, once someone stopped to help me and it was so close that we both nearly ended up in the water but luckily it worked out ok. Tried that sit on the back of the boat and slide your way forward into the cockpit a few times but fell over before I got to it! Depending how rough the water was and how complicated the fall out was the boat could be so full of water that your only concern was to save the boat by gently floating it to the bank!!!! Never got any roasties from falling out though
  19. Just got me a pair of these (Specialized S-works BG MTB) about 2 weeks ago!!! Very very naas, rode with them at Barberton, comfy and very easy to adjust.
  20. Flip I step out for a short while and a Titan Thingamajig turns into a Raleigh with stickers on! Whoa easy now guys! Rock - has anyone actually answered your question i.e. where can u get these? Bunch of thread hijackers!
  21. We win that (above comment) - but flip this goes so fast that I can't keep up! I'll just refrain from posting for a bit so that you can all have your say!
  22. TitusTi - Guess it's a bit like the oke's who ride Ducati! Wouldn't mind one myself I must say! Guess that's why my ragging you was a tad half hearted
