  1. TitusTi - Guess it's a bit like the oke's who ride Ducati! Wouldn't mind one myself I must say! Guess that's why my ragging you was a tad half hearted
  2. Hey hey hey you bunch of nescient suckers! The 2 of you that is, remember you can never be too Specialized! Innovate or die! DR you ride a flippin Raleigh the butt of all HUB jokes and as for that Titan thingamajig who else has one? Hehehehe so hopefully that gets you guys going but dont even think to start that C v S thing here! Rock - yes they are lovely I guess but I wouldn't ride with them, look a bit bling to me!
  3. I have a copy of these if anyone is interested. PM me your E-Mail address and I'll forward it. Can't update the Flatdogs website at the moment, since I've moved to Centurion my 'special' internet links no longer work and I'm the flippin CIO. These damn IT support guys of mine! Gonna fire them if they don't sort it today! Enjoyed the XC racing yesterday was great fun, my new silver bullet behaved very well. I finished 5th as opposed to 8th at the first XC event last year! Oh and yes I did fall once, but a good one, over the bars. Bit of bruising here and there today but otherwise OK!
  4. BG - Squirt works for my bikes! Unfortunately that question will also get you a choice of some few hundred different lubes and opinions! Shouldn't get as bad as a Campy vs Shimano discussion though (at least I hope!)
  5. MichH - you could always pop out to Summit cycles (Value Faire centre Midrand) at lunch time, it's not far from you and get some from Anton!
  6. Scotty - we gonna see you at Phambili Sunday? Know that you do grace the XC races now and then with your presence! Then I'll see if the spinning does work!
  7. Was gonna rant about how I specifically mentioned that they (race commisaire) allowed my son to ride Sabie experience based on his previous results (i.e. he is capable of such an event) or that I even mentioned that they only allowed it as I would be with him and would ensure that he did nothing stupid (yes I do have his best interests at heart, besides the fact my wife would slaughter me should anything happen to him caused by me!) and that if 'something' happened to him on the mountain I would be with him and take the blame but ja whatever! BTW he will ride 'official' junior licenced with restricted gears at the Fast One in case anyone ........................... There are no restricted gears in MTB, just saying .....................
  8. Don't know about Argus MTB but my son has ridden the Sabie Experience the last 2 years (age limit 17, his first when he was 15), not the youth cat that was added this year I mean the full wack. I mailed the organisers gave them some of his race results etc. and they put me in contact with the race commisaire who then evaluated it and decided to allow him to ride. Important in this case was that he was riding with his father whom they decided would ensure he was OK. What they didn't know is that I was the one suffering not him but anyway my point is there is a 'proper' way that may also work! On the other hand maybe enter with someone else's ID number? Does he mind being called by a different name for a day (only a few hours actually!).
  9. Oooooooops - sorry guys! Just read mtb helmets in the subject didn't check the actual poll, please accept my humble apologies. I'll go back to my corner for a while and be back later when I'm properly awake! Feeling rather dumb now!
  10. Guess this has been discussed to death before! But from an old helmet advert :- 10$ head = 10$ helmet (by definition I guess no helmet = no head!)
  11. Mampy, bad excuse, 1 bottle on the frame and 2 in the shirt pockets should do it! Like the XC racers do! Wouldn't refill from the spruit though!
  12. Hey Mammy (ok?) don't apologise for it only being a Raleigh, do you really want to get DR worked up now!
  13. And 5:30 AM Sunday! We had ridden about 70k's already when we saw you! Been doin it for years, no big deal anymore, bit tough though to get the nipper up!
  14. 7am is too late for me, gotta be out there by 5am else I get home to late and am not able to put in that quality family time my missus requires! Not valid on race weekends of course!
  15. MichH - just saw your post 'where did you ride' !!! Sorry bit busy, work and all that! Rode through the Rietveli Zoo farm (some technical single track and tricky up and down) then through the Hills behind Meyersdal Zenex (won't be there long, fences erecting etc. but nice hard loose up and then an extremely exciting longish rocky down) then off to the blockhouse and back (same route we rode part of once with you!) and back through the zoo farm again just for fun! Will be riding the 1st provincial at Phambili this Sunday can't wait, first race since Sabie Exeperience, need to use the silver bullet in anger!
  16. Ok I'll give it a go tomorrow. Let you know Monday how it was, riding all sorts tomorrow. First some technical singletrack with hard ups and some tricky downs then rutted bumpy jeep track then decent jeep track up and down and finally a wide open sand road with lots of 'corrugations'. A good test me thinks! Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm outta here, have a good weekend all.
  17. Unfortunately not, just compression damping (lockout) and rebound. Not remote either!
  18. Eeeeehhhhhhhm yes all my comments have been based on fork lockout not shock! Never locked the Stumpy's shock out, it did have 'propedal' though! Is that also 'lockout'? It still bobbed though!
  19. I tell you what I won't lockout once on our 4 hour ride tomorrow and give feedback on Monday! Ewep can control that the experiment is undertaken correctly! Oh but he spoke to Chunky today not sure if I'll be able to keep up!!!!!!
  20. I assume crux = crutch? Apparently on my new fancy Specialized Epic steed I must behave and ride properly else he'll come take it back! Says that I don't have any more excuses like 'but the Stumpjumper always bob's!' Apparently the only Bob should be the oke on the bike!
  21. TitusTI - my LBS owner (also happens to be flippin good rider!) keeps on crapping me out for exactly that reason! In fact said the next shock he sells me won't have a lockout, hey I'm paying!
  22. I'm also quick to lock my fork out pity I don't always remember to unlock it in time. Have ridden some scary stuff with the fork locked out!
