Pink slip signed! 400 is a go [emoji41] Any other hubbers going? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  3. Talking about punctures, I've had a torrid time with tyres/punctures the last week and a half [emoji35] Let's just say that in 8 rides I had to get a lift home from 3 of them (2 different bikes, road tubes and gravel tubeless)! Despite that still lekker to get out while the Highveld weather is at its best again [emoji41] Sent from my LG-D958 using Tapatalk

Mmmm so I've done a 200 and 300 ... @CharlesZ has planted a little seed as I believe there is a 400 on the 23rd of March. Anyone have any idea what route it might be? Have to get it passed my SO as I would prefer to just 'go it alone' but she may not be so keen. Depending on the route was thinking is it allowed for example that you can be met at a checkpoint say early in the morning to get rid of the night riding stuff you would need (lights, batteries, jackets etc.) and to get some extra food/juice stuff .... 5. 'man-of-war' as my Dad called them when I was a kid. Lived in PE and got stung many a time [emoji1786] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
  6. Somewhat less exciting than those WC rides and sadly I can feel/see a change happening in the weather on the Highveld [emoji17] Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
  7. The roads of the south in a bit of a mess after all the rain, had countless punctures ... I used my spare tube and all 6 of the patches I had as well as an extra 'stick on' emergency patch and was still far from home! As luck would have it that wheel set, built from a lot of stuff in my garage and so on, has a tubby rear and a clincher front. I always carry a spare tubby anyway despite how cumbersome it is. Had a thought as I was contemplating waking my wife up to fetch me in the sticks ... Would a tubby fit over a clincher rim? And lo and behold it does [emoji41] rode 50k's home with it and never felt like it was going to come off or anything! Sadly 6k's from home I had to call the 'team' car to fetch me for a different reason, nothing serious and already sorted luckily [emoji3]
  8. The was a time when you were a stage racer [emoji12] He is happy being there with his kids and grandchildren but as far as cycling and outdoor stuff goes he reckons the rain has just about it him off cycling all together. Rides occasionally now ...
  9. Just going to leave this here as I know Patch does look here and is not a 'cyclist' anymore ... 'silver spokes are for poor people' Patch ca. 2016
  10. Last ride here in the fairest Cape for this holiday sadly ... thanks Capetonians it's been real as the cool kids say! A few observations- I've hopped on the back of riders here and there, had a lady draft me for miles through Camps Bay yesterday with a friendly thanks as I turned up towards Signal hill direction ... waved when I could, some waved back some didn't. Been in traffic and besides a bit of indecision on my part some of the time it's been fine. At no point felt any more unsafe than at any of the other many places I have ridden All in all its been a blast so thanks to those who helped with routes (ManWithNoName and Chingy182 amongst others), all the riders, drivers and pedestrians for their friendliness and patience! Has got to be the place where I have seen the most cool bikes AND wheels around and almost every cyclist is thin, fast and fit [emoji44]
  11. You are 100% correct, should have added to my comment about helping if it was my grandchild ... I would only pay if I had reasonable access to the child that's for sure! Otherwise they could sod right off ...
  12. Saturday morning
  13. Thanks, will definitely take you up on that next time. Could only bring one bike sadly .....
  14. For sure and as Chingy182 said to me recently something like 'the views are so great you almost don't feel how hard the climb is'
  15. Chose a perfect day for my first ride of the week after having a sore throat and stuffy nose from the ride in the rain Sunday and also my last time over Chapmans Peak for this trip! Lucky to know 'a guy' that showed me a little known spot on the Chappies climb to get some fresh mountain stream water [emoji6] Tomorrow that short 'August' route of mine again. Hardly a breath of wind #unbelievable Chuffed to have solved the rattle on this bike, albeit by accident, that we initially thought was the internal cables [emoji41]

  21. I rode Noordhoek, Simonstown, Cape Point, Scarborough, Kommetjie and back to the caravan park ... absolutely soaked the whole way! Throat not so lekker today but hopefully get over it in a day or 2, leaving on Saturday morning ....
  22. Had the privilege of riding with the Hout Bay Cycling Club guys yesterday, what a lekker bunch! Loads of chirps and they can ride, had me on the rivet but enjoyed myself. Great job ManWithNoName is doing with them, thanks for inviting me Best chirp of the day 'when you get home today you must give your sister's socks back' ... Frikkin clown [emoji23][emoji23]
  23. Took a slightly different direction today, absolutely stunning morning out!
  24. Actually the more I look around me here in Capetown you can't actually take a bad picture, even of the highways!
  25. I'm sure I saw the Savage express train going down Chappies towards Noordhoek between 6 and 6:30 ... Didn't look like they were having any trouble [emoji50] Will probably look at some other route for a change tomorrow
