Do the Pass - we left Plett just before 5am and drove along the route to get there in plenty of time.... George is looong.

Last year we drove through from Plett at 5am and the roads were still open!
  5. Although Fangs and MAC tough they are rideable whereas I found the GrootRivier climb definitely not rideable the whole way - my opinion!
  6. Anyone have a clue on how the flooding in PE area etc has affected the Trans route?

    Joberg2c 2013

I am very much an average more towards the back of the pack type of rider and the first 3 days of JHB2C were pretty fine.... long and flat. Days 4, 5, 6 are much tougher with technical singletrack and some big climbs and descents ( one of the guys who had done Epic said Day 4 ( the drop off the escarpment day) made the Epic look like a wimps ride...... but never done an Epic so wouldnt know!! So basically 3 toughish days and the rest is fine.

    Joberg2c 2013

You wont be sorry..... just finished it.... unbelievable event - and you get to do the Sani without all the traffic!!
  17. Do the Joberg2C..... small field.... no congestion in the singletracks and not much standing in line for anything!!
  18. www.spectrumsport.co.za supposed to be here but still dont appear to be available yet!!
  19. Hey guys, not sure wether it will help at all but have just done JHB2C so will past the garmin details of my last 3 days which is the Sani course...... did the Sani in 2009 and Day 2 climbs seem to be different from what I remember. Two really BIG ones... the first on smooth road ( just longish and steep) and the second on jeep trackish with a few rocks type terrain! Day 7 ( sani day 1) 80.16 km with 1128m climbing Day 8 ( sani day 2) 99.36km with 1609m climbing Day 9 ( sani day 3) 73.16km with 869m climbing Day 3 is fast and furious with really not too much climbing..... just keep a bit in the tank for the last climb near the end... short but steep!! Hope this helps!!
  20. Having done it on Friday in JHB2C here are my Garmin read outs... tot dist : 99.36km and total climbing 1609m!
  21. Just done JHB2C with the last 3 days being Sani and the weather was HOT!! They offered the service where you could hand in your cold weather gear at the first water point and collect after each stage... am sure that will be available for the Sani
  22. Nooooooooooo....... also interested in a decent rain jacket.... First Ascent not waterproof !!
  23. Am sure Esther Suss did prologue on Wheeler 26 DS and is now on Wheeler HT 29er..... unless my eyes were deceiving me... this obviously means you are allowed to change bikes for the various stages???
  24. Just check that you can cycle through Baviaans without a support vehicle.... earlier this year they would not let us through the boom up to Bergplaas without a support vehicle following... something to do with the buffalo/rhino???
