  1. This is the feedback I get from all our local stores, all their asics clients complain with each new addition coming out. Myself and my wife had one pair each two years back and never again thanks...
  2. Oh yes thanks, I do that as well. Just sometimes difficult after races. I want to keep thinks right this time around, do not want a knee to come bugger up everthing along the way, seeing that I do feel a very slight pain on the outside of the knee after this weekends 24 mountain race...
  3. Just a recap on ITB if I may... The only preventative/recovery excercises that you can do is the strenthening of core, butt, hips and the muscles around the knees. Foam rolling and not increasing milleage to much week on week. Is that about it?
  4. Comrades Marathon ‏@ComradesRace Sep 23 South Africa More than 37% of the #Comrades2017 entry quota has already been taken up, with an astounding 21% of novice entrants It is growing...
  5. Agreed. I think trail running, parkruns and urban trail runs contributed a lot. Add to that the focus on healthy living of the last few years and this is what is happening. What I like is you don't have to carry a lot of equipment with you where you go. You litterally need a pair of tekkies and you and the whole family can enjoy a run/walk wherever you go.
  6. Try Bloem winter months... We did close to all our miles in the winter on the treadmill.
  7. Yeah, I'm going to sit in the corner now....
  8. We also take a good multi and I added osteoeze with msm from the beginning of the year. It seems the iron is a good addition. We used to take the b complex and whatever injections weekly, but it is a pain in the butt to go to the pharmacy weekly, pun intended. We don't get in more than 7, mostly we only get in 6 hours per night. Our alarms go off 03:45 to do our training then, before we start with the kids. That is the only time it can happen, there is no time in the evenings. I do think this is the first and biggest problem.
  9. I see on a few places they mention additional iron supplementation for these kind of activities, what else is there that you guys take, wrt the vitamin side, apart from your normal multi? Now I know we come up a bit short on sleeping hours due to small kids and schedules, but after two months we can already feel the strain, feeling tired.
  10. I get 50% off Mango from Multiply, no catches. Now they just need to open the April flights.
  11. Mine is for two entries. Standing on R7,900 for entries and accomodation deposits. Airfare to CT and balance of accomodation to be addded still.
  12. Me too, just cannot believe I tripped four times over the same hurdle, comrades x 2 and omtom x 2.
  13. How/where does a first timer register on the website? Did the OMTOM website registration so long, but can't find my way on the comrades site?
  14. Ok, help our novices, where is the A and where is the Z of comrades and omtom registration? I have already registered on omtoms website, but cannot see the same on comrades. Oh and goes without saying we need to get both chips for both races as well....
  15. I see the accommodation is already a issue, same with omtom. We will also take the kids to ushaka the friday.
  16. Btw, those are just the two big ones. We are doing Lammergeyer next month, same part of the world as Skyrun and doing Ottosdal night marathon end of Jan. And everything else possible in between.
  17. Booked a 3 bed, 3 bath house in Umhlanga. One for us and one for my colleaque and his fam.
  18. Same here, booked it this morning. Some purse breaker coming up on 01/09... Comrades entries x 2 OMTOM entries x 2 Plane tickets (hopefully) x 2 OMTOM accomodation x 2 Comrades accomodation payment x 7
  19. So how is the 230? I still see one in my near future...
  20. Unfortunately I never really go to Jhb. I also did not like my pair of Cumulus I had AT ALL. Not sure if the Nimbus would be that different. I just know that I have never been this frustrated with choice of shoes ever. I always walked into a shop, picked the latest Pegusas en went. BTW, the Brooks Ghost 9 was perfect, really liked them, untill I jogged lightly in them. The top of my toe hits the hard toe cap in a weird uncomfortable manner and I'm not sure that is such a good idea. So it was a real downer as I really liked them, not sure why they would make such a big hard toe cap at all. PS: The lady at SBR Sport recons New Balance is a bad shoe. So many people so many opinions I guess...
  21. Thanks, will go have a look. Training is coming on slowly, but surely. Picking up the miles slowly and constantly. The ITB is holding off good too. Went to the orthopedist on recommendation and he recons my running style also creates my ITB. That and the "crap" Nikes I run with. Quickly became used to hearing how crap Nikes are this last few weeks.... That's why I have to choose now between the Mizuno Wave Rider 19, New Balance 880v6 and Brooks Glycerin 14. Although the brooks feel the most comfortable and a bit softer, they don't give me that warm feeling (Don't like the looks and price as well). That leaves the New Balance and Mizuno then I guess. The NB feeling the bit softer than the Mizuno, the more "stable" as well. It feels as if the Mizuno's make me supinate, I don't feel so stable on them, standing and walking, but they are the ones the orthopedist advises. Real confused.
  22. One other thing. Does anybody run with Mizuno's here? More specifically "Wave Rider 19" Or know somebody, that knows somebody, that has feedback?
  23. Does anyone perhaps have the Old Mutual Ultra Marathon training plans, the 56km and the comrades ones? I see they don't have them on the website anymore, only up untill the 42km plans.
