  1. And take it easy. Sommer work in structured walks from the beginning, it will benefit you later. You are not trying to run a record, you are trying to make 21km's without doing any damage.
  2. hahaha, not there yet luckily. I just have a deep hairline on the front, so that these kind of visors (which I prefer) don't work in the sense that I burn between the top of the cap and where my hair starts. http://www.o-synce.com/fileadmin/product_pictures/screeneye_x/screeneye_x_product__1_.jpg Anybody with a link to these peaks perhaps?
  3. Ah ok. Neither do I have the hairline and the amount of hair anymore to wear thos unfortunately.
  4. I run with a cap, but I have the same issue. The whole breathable cap is soaking wet after a 5-10 k's. I've been pondering with the idea to pull a buff on underneath the cap, but I recon that will get damm hot in the long run.
  5. Excuse my ignorance. A "peak"? It's not so much about the sun shining into your eyes, its more about sensitiveness to the brightness.
  6. My baby blue eyes is WAY to sensitive to not wear them.
  7. How do you guys handle sunglasses fogging up or is it a PITA you have to live with? Do the sunglasses with openings on the top of the lens against the frame make a difference to normal sunglasses? I run with my oakley bottle rockets and it becomes irritating. http://www.oakley.com/en/mens/sunglasses/sport-sunglasses/bottle-rocket-trade-/bottle-rocket-polarized/product/W0OO9164P/?categoryCode=m020310&skuCode=OO9164-05
  8. Yup I see our local parkrun has exploded with numbers. So much so, they are talking about two more parkruns for Bloem. This is fantastic for the sport. More so because it caters for everybody, big and small, BIG and small, young and old, moms with prams, everybody. Excellent for people to be health and fitness conscience.
  9. Indeed. A simple example for me was cyclists do not greet on the road, not here anyways. Do not even waste to time as a runner to greet a cyclist in the morning hours...
  10. I think I'm also going to override that 32 with a 21 the weekend before omtom. The two weeks after omtom is a bit more relaxed, but still. That's the Saturday, the Sunday is a 1H30 at base pase, I will still do that as well.
  11. Regarding the training programs. I had a shock looking forward to what happens up until two oceans time, regarding miles, but I see all of them basicly works like that. OMTOM is just part of your training for comrades and the miles stack up like crazy all the way. We have a 32km the Saturday and a 10km the Sunday before OMTOM.
  12. Regardless of the programe, the one thing that I am incorporating is ever single hill I can find in Bloem. I'm not going to look back at this and say, why did I only run flat routes...
  13. Hav'nt seen any squash since my knee scope 7 years back. LOVED it...
  14. I always have something to bite, we should be upping the bites with this comrades training. Nutrition is as important as running! Was'nt arguing, we are on the same team. That was the one aspect that I thought about your plan. I was told the guide is not to increase much more than 10% per week and not exceed your weeks mileage with your long run on the weekend by much? My 0.14 cents, Jaco, Comrades Virgin!
  15. We have two rest days per week, after some hectic weeks even a third day. We will be incorporating stretching, mobility and strenght on those days.
  16. For interest sake, the Old Mutual Sub 11:30 program takes you to +- 1,100 - 1,200 kms
  17. I'll have a bite as well... Being the coach of the last two comrades and omtom ladies victories, I fail to see how he can be SO far off.
  18. I would love to see that training programme!

  20. Ahh, ok. :whistling: :w00t:
  21. I will be finding out this year... Apparently a very likeable, not tough race, only heard good things about going there for the weekend. The long run that day of time might be strange to me for one, hav'nt done such a long distance that time of day before, we normally run in the dark, but in the am's. We may end up doind only the 21 it seems, with my wife's "feet" setback. We will know within the next few weeks, but I'm not going to rush or risk anything. Comrades is only in June and that is the target. It will adjust the training a bit though, but the next marker will be a 52km's on 25/02 then. https://www.strava.com/activities/4334663 http://www.ottosdaldrafentrap.co.za/images/map2.jpg
  22. Yup, there is always next year. You know what they say about spyt kom te laat! Or you can go and do a casual enjoyable comrades and be cutoff at the 60km's mark...
  23. My wife is currently on NB's as well, also wide foot problems. Time will tell. Just on the Saucony's, the Triumph ISO3 does come in a wide fit now FWIW.
