  1. I need to get another running shirt, a club one. So thinking ahead to Comrades, which is the type of shirt that us "whole-day-long folks" want to wear? I hear the arguments for the sun is going to burn you with a running vest type shirt, but they are cooler than the normal short sleeve shirts?
  2. So after our first run of 2017, I did the following to my toe before the second run. Don't ask how... I presume it will not be broken, just buggered up, although it feels like it's broken. I can barely touch it and it cannot bend. Hope it heals quickly, we need to get back into action asap now.
  3. Can anybody perhaps download this? http://images//pdf/Bronze_May_2017.pdf The May 2017 program of the bronze Parry program?
  4. GPS watches on big sales http://www.takealot.com/deals/sport-flash-sale_
  5. Anybody? The Supernova Glide seems to be the durable long runs one. I see they recon the boost was the turnaround for them and the continental soles on the supernova is the harder one, seems durable.
  6. Just found this solereview review. Even before 50kms I can see that this will be the first point of failure yes... Holding thumbs for more kms than it currently seems to be heading for! https://www.solereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Saucony_Triumph_ISO_3_durability.jpg
  7. Ok, WRT Brooks Ghost 9's. Seems we have a design fault and I guess I will not own another 9 atleast then. I spoke to two people in the same resort as us this week that also have them. A lady that said she does not have any issues now with them, but she did have the exact same spot irritating in the inside of here foot for the first while, but then she switched to thick socks and it is fine now. Crossed another gentleman this morning on our run with them and he also can only use them on short runs, longer ones he gets the same irritation. I run with Falke AR1's so I don't know if "thick" socks are thicker then them. It's really sad actually, for everything else I love about the shoe. The ladies' husband did mention that he loved his Brooks Glycerin 13's. I see some wear on the centre of my front foot area, on the soles of my Saucony triumph ISO3's that is concerning after 50kms. Where the Brooks have more than 500 on now and still look very good for much more. I hope this is not a sign of poor poor mileage on the saucony's. I hardly see anybody using adidas, what about them?
  8. Today is the day if you want to buy a watch... http://www.takealot.com/deals/the-perfect-gift-2 This gets my vote... http://sport.takealot.com/sport-garmin-forerunner-230-black-white/PLID41469982 It obviously helps that Multiply gives another 20% off.. Don't know them, but the Suunto's have MASSIVE discount. http://www.takealot.com/deals/the-perfect-gift-2?sort=BestSelling%20Descending&rows=30&start=0&backend=fbye-snprg-pyvrag&filter=Available:true&filter=Promotions:50998&filter=Brand:%22Suunto%22
  9. Anybody with experience in Brooks Glycerin 14's? When I fitted them initially I went with the Ghosts, even though I must admit that the Glycerin ugly ducklings was definately even a better fit than the ghosts?
  10. Initial thoughts on the ISO 3, but this is merely after a 8km jog. Keep in mind the Brooks Ghosts is 500km old, I still like them a lot (apart from the iritation spot) and I only pick this up with distances towards 20km's and beyond. The Triumphs definately has more cushioning (comparing against a old shoe, but I'm sure the brooks was less even new) Triumph has a thicker sole, higher off the ground than the ghosts. Triumph has a narrower and more pointy toebox than ghosts. Now I'm sure they will stretch a bit, but they are definately more narrow than the ghosts. I do have a bit wider feet as well though. The two ISO lace up system is definately more comfortable for me than the three. I guess only time will reveal if there is issues as soon as I do the 20 tyre km's again, but initial thoughts is I LIKE!!! Oh, did I mention that they are damm stunning in real life.
  11. - I hav'nt seen Altra? - I hear a lot of good reviews first hand of the Peregrine - The NB 860v7 is my next (and only hope at this stage) hope. We'll go and try and get them. - Our Local store guy that is helping us as best as he can, gave her a new pair of 1080's, wide fit, last weekend. 8 km's and a blister on her little toe like crazy. Due to that stupid hard plastic on the sides. I also looked at it at a stage and that plastic catches me on the inside of my foot as well. This excersize is becoming expensive.
  12. Nike is by far her most comfortable yet, but the clever guys recon she is going to bugger herself up with the marathon up to comrades distances. As she pronates (and is unstable in the process of doing so) and the nikes is too soft.... She has wide feet and her toes is kinda crawl/hanging type, so there is few shoes that fits and does not bother or chafe her toes terribly, Now take the above and try and find a wide fit light stability shoe. Then there is the subject of sizing, on which every guy has a different (strong) opinion on what her size should be. Can it be this damm difficult to try and get her running painfree.
  13. I've seen they recon it is softer than the 2's, but this will be my first (only only second pair) of Saucony's since 1995, so.... I will let you know how they compare to the Ghost's. That said, I'm nowhere near as technically evolved as you guys with heel moving around, diffferent strikes, this that. A shoe is nice or not and it works or not... Can tell you one thing, had a 5 km's in my Vomero's the other day. Now I understand why they say Nike's is soft. The Brooks are WAY nicer and firmer. They are even firm on the irritation spots We struggle immensely to find something that works for my wife. She needs a light stability, corfirmed by Mike SBR. Everything we put her in buggers up her feet in some area. She gets blisters like crazy in her Brooks Ravenna now on the inside of her foot. The irony is that to date the best ones was her Nikes. No blisters, just blue toenails - falling off...
  14. Apart from that irritation on the longer milleages they are really great. The problem is you don't know if the next pair will do the same or not. Picking up my Saucony Triumph ISO3 on Saturday morning....
  15. I realise it is perhaps a unfair question not knowing what the whole training programe looks like, but how good an idea is a 52km race 6 weeks before two oceans? The long runs being something like this... 28/01/17 - 42 25/02/17 - 52 15/04/17 - 56 04/06/17 - 87
  16. It is yes. Our club emailed us the FS schedule.
  17. Solid watch, I bought the 15 2 years back, thinking we would just stick to 21's and perhaps marathons. Now we had to buy again, a 230, as we entered for comrades and omtom, but that was the thinking, the 15 has now move on to my wife. So just make sure about what your plans are and if the battery life is fine for that, no problem. Otherwise perhaps buy big enough once!
  18. What works for me is the daily routine of saline spray and getting the nose clean as well as gargle some salt water to make sure bacteria cannot breed in your throat. This helps me a lot. BTW, I bought a Salex metered saline spray bottle and from there I filled it with saline you buy per litre (R11) from the pharmacy.
  19. I don't know what is going on with me, but I am TIRED. Cannot get up in the morning, cannot keep my eyes open. I need to pull my finger.
  20. FYI "Hi The Triumph ISO 3 is now available, guide 10 launches mid January. IThe men's Triumph ISO 3 is now also available in a wide fit" All rightee then, where is that credit card.....
  21. I'm more of a pissie... I have to wear socks as well
  22. I had to treadmill this morning due to circumstances, which was the first treadmill since the winter. I almost DIED. I doubt even this thing will make it better. I have no idea how I'm going to survive on that treadmill come winter time...
  23. Will give this a try as well thanks.
