  1. Brooks Ghost above Glycerin for me, everything from 5k to Comrades. I'm on my 6'th pair, 4th generation.
  2. Weird how it is too hot for a shirt, but cold enough for arm warmers.... https://twitter.com/coopsrun/status/1287063815687942145
  3. Walmsley Solo Hardrock 100 FKT... https://share.garmin.com/walmsleyruns https://www.instagram.com/p/CC90l2-nhhq/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CC9i_J6JYiD/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CCzBmEQne5T/
  4. Sorry, I only see again now you got the 2.5L. That is why I shared the withwind 10L that was on special as well and also recommended the withwind 5L. They have a dedicated phone pocket with a zip and does not have the issues you listed now.
  5. As a matter of interest, why is it not suited for trails?
  6. Not this 2.5L one specifically, but I got the 5L one and are VERY happy with it. No way that I would pay the amount for the Solomons, even if I had that money where you can get these for a R1,000 and less. 7. But burned down. So not sure about their future, very sad.
  8. Fast forward to 58:50... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2Nuww3bmKU
  9. Tom Tom does not pull through via Strava anymore for daily steps...

  11. Please give feedback, I would love to hear what you think of them. The few guys that I know of in them really love them. I presume the 6 was 9 right, IIRC? FWIW I did not get that same spot irritation from 10 up to the 12's now so hope you don't either yes.
  12. Ok, I'll bite... Is that part of Bloem under level 3 lockdown? I need to go run there...
  13. Depending on the amount of support you need, you can look at Ravenna as well. Light support, but fantastic shoe. Not many other brands has this type of support shoe.
  14. Does anybody know of a active days device that is not as RUBBISH as the Garmin Vivofit range? I need to get another one for my mother as hers had died again, for the can't even recall how many time. Range 1 to the current 4. I don't even know if I want to look at the Vivosmart or Vivoactive range as I cannot believe that will be any different to the vivofit The only other option is a watch then which is WAY more expensive and she does not need that. The vivofit that counts step is perfect for her, but the last one lasted 3 months
  15. I have not had good experience with NB, not me nor my wife. (Apart from the NB trail - QOM and KOM) But the road ones does not give mileage and just does not do anything for me. I again am VERY happy with my brooks ghosts (9-12's) as well as Saucony.
  16. If you follow you comrades program now, then you are either a novice that will not listen to experienced advice or you cannot think for yourself. You should be in December mode now.
  17. This is an attitude I can align with... https://twitter.com/jennaChallie1/status/1247418184451403777
  18. I cannot understand all the moaning about Comrades. Apart from them opening up subs which I don't agree with (unless they refund that money in full), I cannot understand what the issue is. Why do they have to take a decision about it now. What is wrong with aligning with ASA and government with the lockdown and extending the final decision until a time where there is more clarity about what the situation is with the virus and then make a call about it. That way it leaves the door open for it to happen, if possible in any way. They already acknowledged as much that it will be postponed and also the latest date to which it can, surely there is a thousand things that needs to be considered and needs to align for it to be possible. No one here has the slightest idea what the organisation of this race holds in and affects. And if it gets cancelled, like we all suspect it might end up, then so what? Whatever deposits has been paid is already gone anyways. This way we all have an outside chance of perhaps making it happen this year. I think we as human beings ALWAYS have to moan about something.
  19. Wow these Garmin vivofits are RUBBISH. I know of almost 20 in our family that was buggered, exchanged, buggered again, echanged, buggered - sorry the 12 month warranty is now over, buy a new one.... The latest is my moms Vivofit 4 that she got in Nov last year, sending it back to Garmin now. Unfortunately this range works best for her being older than 70, not needing to charge it, easy to download etc, but this is not worth it. Spending a R1,000 each year and then the trouble of sending it back 2-3 times during that year. Really Garmin????
  20. How much was it previously, 15%?
  21. 1296 points currently, with the last of the safe days and active days to come. It takes momentum products this year mixed with a bit of cashback savings...
  22. This was interesting for me regarding Comrades qualifications... https://www.facebook.com/norrie.williamson.9/posts/10158435523460087 Therefore a decision now by CMA would be flawed IMO - however an announcement reinforcing how they will monitor the situation is required and how often they will make updates is key to managing expectations Qualification: This really is NOT an issue if one considers history: The qualification was NEVER introduced for health reasons (that was an excuse used in the past two decades by those who didn’t know the history ) In 1975 the organisers (collegian Harriers) brought in both a 1500 runner limit and a 4:30 marathon qualifier to ensure that not more than 1500 runners (and their cars / bikes for seconding as there were no tables ) would be on the road. There was genuine concern that provincial authorities were going to stop the race due to congestion on roads In fact the 1975 had 1668 entries with qualifying times and the 168 were rejected The cap of 1500 was dropped in future years and when limits were reintroduced even the comrades chair of the time could not quote or answer questions on the history (he passed the question to an older member of the public at the media conference as to why that gent thought the qualifier had been introduced. . Speaks volumes of some of the past Comrades board knowledge )
  23. https://coachparry.com/running-uncertain-times-covid-19/ The first thing I want to encourage you to do is to keep running. There is lots of literature that points to the fact that moderate exercise boosts the immune system so it is in your best interest to keep on running. There is also plenty of research that shows that hard training can cause a dip in your immune system so you do want to curb those really hard training sessions in the coming 4-8 weeks.
