  1. Yes, if your were tested you would have probably received a ban. If you took the medicine and reported it and applied for a TUE then you would probably have been cleared because you had reason for taking the meds. But you should not have been riding with a flue/cold. I know it's a lot of money to waste but surely your health is much more important.
  2. No, rules on violations for professionals should not be relaxed and testing for amateurs is not financially viable (but if testing on armatures would be done more frequently a lot more people will test positive because they don't care to check what they put in their bodies). My argument is simple: We cannot flame professional cyclist/athletes for doping if we as armatures dope ourselves. Yes we are on two different levels but we must all play according to the same rules. It's as simple as that. So check your meds and supplements, if they contain banned substances ask your doctor for alternatives or apply for a TEU. Maybe if we as amateurs take anti doping more seriously then the pro's will notice it and also follow suit.
  3. Not naive actually. Why are you reading this thread? Are you thinking "Wow Yolande is a doper" ...............but you might be one as well? I don't care what medicine your using or why your using it but if you want to really be fair to those around you then you should be either checking your meds or get the doctor to check it and apply for a TUE or change your stance regarding doping and say it's ok to dope.
  4. Do you also complain about all the corruption and fraud being committed in our government but when you get into your car you break the speed limit and don't stop dead at stop signs? Rules are rules. You break them then your wrong..........there's no gray area or any justification for your actions.
  5. If he wants to play by the rules then yes he must. Such a Oom will be a role model for other cyclists and I will have much respect for people like him!
  6. We are all cyclists at the end of the day. We can't cry for a clean sport but break the rules ourselfs just because we are not being paid to cycle. The same rules that governs them, governs us.
  7. Yes, Then I can move one place up And anyone from Europe entering the Epic does not spend a boat load because our money is cheap and it's way cheaper than being labeled a doper Look I'd say that is the right thing to do but it will never happen. The authorities will ask you why you did not use something else that's not on the banned list. Or as you said apply for a emergency TUE but the fact remains that you have to inform the people before you get tested because if they test you before you informed them it's just going to look bad and we will probably have the same discussion on the HUB but on a thread dedicated to you.
  8. It will be your responsibility to inform the necessary people immediately after taking such medication. And the right thing to do is to withdraw from the race.
  9. Exactly so you go through the hassle to check your meds and play fair. So how do you feel about the guy in front of you who might have taken an Advil for a snotty nose the morning of the race beating you? You might think ah but I finished 100th so no big deal but still that person has doped. There might be 90 other people in front of you that's also taken something on the banned list. The playing field should be level. Rules are rules and we all have to play accordingly no matter if we are pro or weekend warrior.
  10. Like I said, you may not be competing for a podium or get paid for cycling but if your still using something that contains a banned substance then your doping end of story. At the end of the day your still competing against other cyclists that may be following the rules and making sure they are not doping.
  11. Plenty of judges here. Tell me honestly how many of you check the medication that your using against the WADA banned list? You will be surprised how many of your medication actually contain banned substances. How many of you use high blood pressure medication and those that do have you applied for TUE? If not your a doper just like the rest of the people caught. You may not be competing for a podium but doper you are none the less.

  19. Found the post. Happened on Friday 27 Nov Groenkloof Nature reserve warning: Be very careful and alert when mtb in the reserve. I was attacked by an individual whilst riding in the single track going uphill parallel to the R21. He managed to on only hit partially with a rock. I was fortunate to get away. It happened yesterday afternoon.
  20. I think there was another one in Groenkloof as well (Also on Saturday if I recall correctly). Guy tried to hit a cyclist off his bike using a stone. Will try and find the post.
  21. After doing my first Amashova this year I am convinced that people that run that route is just plain BONKERS. It hurts when I have to run uphill. It hurts even more when I have to run downhill and that is all the Comrades route consists off. There is no way I'm going to expose myself to 9h (if I'm lucky) of that torture. I have huge respect for anyone running the Comrades Marathon.
  22. Net mal mense hardloop as niks hulle jaag nie
