  1. Hahahaha. True. Don't know if I'm just more aware of it lately but it is astonishing how many robots only have one working globe these days. Usually you can work out if the light is green, yellow or red by looking at one of the others but I stopped at a 3 way intersection the other day and noticed that of not one of the green lights facing our way or the way of the people to my right were working. That was 0 of the 5 green lights visible to me were working.
  2. Come to think of it. How many drivers treat a robot that is out completely as a stop sign.
  3. Have you ever seen how many people treat a flashing red as a stop sign? I think they forgot to teach that in driving school. That will make the situation much more dangerous I think.
  4. Hahahaha. That is usually the case.
  5. PS. Dicing cars is GREAT interval training. PSS. Chasing cars that have a beautiful lady driver is AWESOME interval training
  6. Never mind dicing cars. If you want to pull a ten to 15m gap you usually have to go as the light turns green and that is exactly the time when the driver of the car that skips the red light takes you out. It's fine if you do it but keep an eye out for cars that skip lights.
  7. I usually do the same but you do get the person that did not shift to a lower gear before coming to a stop etc etc. I do track stands quite well and seldom ever have to cleat out whilst waiting at a intersection and I am also able to pull a gap. I was just generalising a bit I suppose to get my point across.
  8. And No, I dont ride for the Lab
  9. I cross over red lights...........why...........because 100m past the red light the two lanes might become one and the driver behind me might not be watching his lane as he is checking his side mirror for a gap to merge into the other lane. Think about it. The intersection is the most dangerous section for a cyclist. Now we are stationary and the light turns green. We slowly start moving and whilst doing so we might be a bit unstable as well trying to cleat in and trying to go around all the rubbish in the intersection and whilst all this is going on other cars are trying to pass you as well. I will never just jump a red light but I will slow down and cross it when safe because then I am less of a obstruction further down the road to the cars that stopped behind me.
  10. As with cars I think people have become to dependant on technology to help them out there their skills come short. Electronic stability control, traction control etc etc etc. Yea sure it's great that they are developing all this but it's just not for me. I will rather work on my skills to become more fluid through a section than having tech that does it for me. Think the most tech thing on my mtb must be my clutch derailleur.
  11. He trains and race hard enough to have a sponsor who gives him the real deal! No need for fakes.
  12. So it's true that there is no such thing as bad publicity!
  13. Remember to pack your climbing legs! The roads go up and does not stop. The downhills are awesome as well!
  14. Real funny. They say they are in North West (South Africa) but if you look at the map it shows San Francisco FAIL!!!
  15. Cool It's been a while since I last used that road. Damm I miss the Cape!
  16. If I was on my road bike I would not want to ride on the curb as that is where all the k@k lies that gives me punctures. The cars are more in the wrong if they ride on the inside where there is yellow dots marked out on the road and pass on the inside. As far as I can remember the speed limit on that road is 80km/h thus if the cars drive at 120km/h they are breaking the law more than these two chaps. Look it's great that you are concerned about the safety of the two riders, and it's never nice to read about a rider being hit/killed but in the end everyone is responsible for their own life. They must make the decision where they want to ride.
  17. Perhaps change the topic line to: Mentality of some cyclists towards cyclists. I see nothing wrong. They were both in the yellow lane and was in nobodies way. You however stopped in the emergency lane (whilst not having an emergency) to tell cyclists that they give us a bad name. To pass you they probably had to cycle into the road and put their lives at "risk".
  18. Went to George over the December holidays and had done some proper road and mtb training there.
  19. Cape Epic already have those. They even have their own special jersey.
  20. True. But can you or I also lodge a complaint within 30min of seeing it on TV? Most probably not. If it's only competitors that can lodge a complaint then they can ride as they please as long as nobody sees them.
  21. Technically nobody was behind them to see it happen thus no one can report it . They were the last team to start and I can't remember if they have passed someone at that stage. Guess luck was on their side.
  22. I also can't see why they will do this to just gain a bit of time. Surely the chances of him getting a puncture or hitting his derailleur on a rock (and losing much more time than he could possibly gain) does not make it worth it to take sort-cuts thus there must have been a reason for it.
  23. I'm not photogenic................not even with a helmet and glasses on my head, and have never seen a picture taken of me that I really like thus I save lots of money. I must admit that I would like a nice pic taken once in a while and for that I'm willing to pay R45.
  24. Photo Marx did Dullstroom. Not sure if they took the pictures at Sabie as well. Nothing on their web page yet. http://www.photomarx.co.za/page/home
