  1. Sjo the pace is going to be seriously fast on the M1 with that tailwind, especially as we get closer to the offramp to Houghton when everyone will try to get to the front to not drop off the back up the hill.
  2. Another way to look at it. This bunch now has 35-40 riders. If each one does a 1min pull at the front they will have 35-40min to recover and rest and hang on. I don't want to mess up the team dynamics here but I'd say that the weaker riders should let the stronger riders do the pulling for the first part of the race which will leave the weaker riders fresher for the latter part of the race and they will still be able to ride/finish with the group Just my 2c though.
  3. I think the I team will do well. Even the guys and girls that can't keep up to the pace for the whole route will still do well as long as they regroup with riders that dropped earlier than them. The key is to work together and if the riders that dropped can regroup in bunches of 3-4 at least, they will have enough people to share the work load to keep a constant pace for the remainder of the race and won't lose to much time over the main bunch. My rear shifter broke as we headed into town last year. I lost a lot of time standing next to the road trying to shift my chain up to the middle of the cassette so that I can just use my front chainrings but it didn't work well. From there on it was a slow grind to the finish but I still managed a 3h05min.
  4. Great. Seems I'm getting sick..........just in time for 94.7 Sitting in a airconed office, going out into the yard to check stuff (39deg), back into cool office, out to site, back to office etc. not good for my health. Trying to get proper sleep at night in this heat is also a mission.
  5. Hahahaha. I qualified!!! Since when does someone get a medal for qualifying?
  6. As you approach us can the team leader please shout "ROAD" or "Get out the way you bunch of slow ............(Nah, this sentence will be to long for the speed you will be going) " then we can make some space for the I Train coming past.
  7. Might I suggest that you buy yourself the Salex SSR sinus rinse kit. Worked like a bomb for me. I sommer rinsed 3 times a day. I also used Sinutab nasal spray (White & Green label) with it. Clears up the congestion quickly. The rinse is a bit gross at first but it really worked for me. http://www.reitzer.co.za/salex/salexsalinesinusrinsekit
  8. Can I join the I-team when they catch my bunch (C Batch) The way you guys and girls are planning for Sunday it might be a possibility
  9. You know what they say about the I in TEAM hey?
  10. Or if he has enough Stans in his tires. Stans levels must be kept at 60Skt per 2.10. Levels above that can lead to Stan clots/balls which will influence the balance of your wheels and can be fatal if you lose control.
  11. Sjo. That sound of the impact sends chills down my spine!!! Healing Vibes
  12. I'm sure the riders' sponsors are willing to pay way more for that results if they compete in their sponsored jerseys.
  13. Jealousy makes us nasty! Damm I'm even jealous of their cool baggy pants Many great opportunities for young riders these days......great to see people recognise talent and are willing to spend money on developing it.
  14. Some very good advice here. But also remember to get yourself some decent shorts. I use good quality shorts that fit very well and thus far I have not had any problems with saddle sores.
  15. Hi Naas. Yes I know they are available but they don' fit on my crank. I spoke to Janos about it already. I have the XTR M970 crank. Those Wolftooth chainrings you guys sold me work brilliantly though. Not one issue thus far Bonus month can' come soon enough!!!
  16. Loved mine and miss them since I converted to 1 x 9. They are awesome for when you have to give short bursts of power in tight single track and on climbs. You really feel them working. I think a lot of people don't use them because you don't have that dead spot at the top of the pedal stroke and therefore your legs work harder and you get tired a bit quicker (or that is what I heard). For me though they had more advantage than disadvantages. If I had the money I would not think twice about getting myself a rotor crank that can fit a single narrow wide chainring.
  17. Its a speed LIMIT not a speed TARGET. I heard people say that cyclists does not belong on the road because they can't keep to the minimum speed limit. Well there is no minimum speed on roads unless specifically indicated by a sign. And I do agree with you. I feel safer when a motorist is forced to slow down and pass me than me riding on the edge of the road and they just speed pass me.
  18. Well if they were given to you then you should not pay anything for them........ Do you have any pictures of the wheels?
  19. I'm curious. Since we are not allowed to ride in bunches (abreast), how do you train to ride in bunches because being able to do that is a essential skill in road racing. If you are not able to do that then you are also a danger to the other riders in the bunch. I would also like to know how you guys feel about smaller road races that don't have full road closure. Do you feel that we are breaking the law then as well by riding in bunches and that we are a inconsiderate bunch of idiots keeping you up and causing all motorists to hate us even more? I might be wrong but I'm gona say that most of you crucifying these riders actions are mtb'ers and hardly ever ride on the road...........and if you do you will most probably be the guys that train alone.
  20. The doctors are the dangerous ones. You make them angry someone on the operating table might just die
  21. In the 10 years I have had my license I have probably waited behind a slow cyclist for a maximum of 20min IF not less. But people don't recognize that the time they spend behind a slower moving object is really not something to get upset about. Everyone is so caught up in the moment. My boss sometimes talks about the cyclist doing this and doing that, and I think he mostly does it to irritate me and I just say "ja" but the other day I started talking to him and I tried to explain to him why we ride the way we do and one thing is for sure. I cannot get a non cyclist to understand why we ride the way we do and that is why it is so dangerous for cyclists on the road. It's like explaining basic politics to Malema.
  22. But that will be the last place I want to troll.
  23. So tempted to go to a motorcycling forum and post this on their breakfast ride tread
