  1. Hello, just an update. I payed a visit to Mikes Bikes and they managed to sort me out! Thanks Patches for the heads up. But while we are on the topic of machining bushes and mounting hardware, would Oilon not be a good material to use? Especially because it is self lubricating etc? http://www.nylacast.com/semi-finished-product/nylacast-olion#.Uc2O6flpmPM
  2. I think it might be: 2014 Factory Float X CTD Trail Adjust http://www.pinkbike.com/news/FOX-34-TALAS-FLOAT-X-FIRST-IMPRESSIONS.html
  3. Thanx for the feedback. Please can you keep me updated regarding this issue, seems like sourcing the right bushing and stuff is a mission on its own.
  4. Thanx Johan, as a last resort I was considering lathe route but I don,t know anybody in JHB north/westrand who has a lathe or the materials...hint hint....
  5. Hi carbon29er Thank you for the info. I measured the width again and it seems like the 22.2 kit might actually work. Any idea where I can order it from?
  6. Hello Hubbers I recently acquired a Fox Float RP2 rear shock from a fellow hubber, which is great, but this evening when I tried to fit it to my bike I noticed a problem. The shock that is currently on the bike has mounting hardware that is designed to work with that shock only (DT Swiss) and use 6mm bolt to. The Fox shock came with mounting hardware that works with 8mm bolts. So I figured one of the following would work: Get new Fox hardware that works with 6mm bolts. Find an insert that has outer diameter of 8mm, an inner diameter of 6mm and is 22mm long Find bolts which have an 8mm shaft with a 6mm threaded tip. Which option will be the best, where can one order bushes, can inserts be machined...etc? Please help, like a little kid I NEED to test out my new toy! Thanx ALLMTB
  7. IMO we have a serious shortage of AM/Enduro type bikes here. So 140,150,160mm travel bikes would be cool nice to have.
  8. I undertand the bike shop fails, but how is it a Scott fail?
  9. Were you riding on rocky terrain? I had the same issue with the rear tire when it was under inflated, and I notced that the only time I noticed some sealnt coming out happened riding on rocky terrain, probably at the spots where the tire deforms according to the rocks? It goes away after a few rides.
  10. YES PLEASE!!!
  11. RIP Burry. So so so sad.
  12. In a ziplock bag in the camelbak works best for me.
  13. Anticipation, look far ahead and anticpate when you might need to uncleat.
  14. Any idea where to get Rubber Queen UST locally?
  15. . Yip. Difficult to say who's running big or small these days as most of them differ. Maxxis are quite narrow too. My 2.35 Hans Dampf is a bit wider than my 2.5 High Roller! Ha! I knew it! I also had a 2.5 High Roller and at the time I also schemed it was a narrow for a 2.5. But now for the real question. For example: Is a tyre lke the Rubber Queen 2.4 larger than the Mountain King 2.4 as it gets seen as a high volume tyre?
  16. I have the Mountain King II 2.4 UST on the front and I believe the cornering ability is much better than the previous mountain kings. The question I have though, on the back I have the previous mountain king 2.2 UST. Is it just me, or does the 2,2 come in a bit small? Looks more like a 2.0 or 2.1.
  17. In that case I am almost 100% sure you would be able to extend the travel to 120mm by altering the "All Travel Spacer". I have the tech doc for a Recon fork saved somewhere...I can send that to if you like. Having difficulty finding Fox tech docs in the interswebs though....
  18. If the Recon Race is the solo air version, I would think that it can be configured to 120mm travel. Unfortunately I do not know a lot about Fox forks. Also, try have a look at the SRAM technical docs: http://www.sram.com/service/rockshox/7,104
  19. A shorter stem will most definitely help. Unfortunately it could affect climbing as you will have less weight over the front wheel, but the bikes handling in the technical stuff will improve. What you can try is to get a shorter stem, but then play around with your head set spacers (stem stack) to get the bar position lower.
  20. Ha! Didn't know you get internet access in a refugee camp!
  21. I want one! I checked on the Pinion site and they recommend that the "gearbox oil" needs to be changed every 10 000km or once a year! How awesome is that for low maintenance?!
  22. I am sure an experienced rider would have to hammer down a trail and nail it hard before it wood break.
  23. Do you think Manon Carpenter would ride one of those?
  24. You would have to be BARKing mad to invest in one of these...
  25. lol!!!! No Pine no shine I guess!!!
