  1. Am I correct that you need an ANT+ dongle to use Zwift with the Kickr still?
  2. If I understand the problem correctly, loosen the centering bolts on the calliper, pull and hold the brake lever firmly and while doing this tighten the bolts. Should be fine after that.
  3. I want to do Joberg2c again next year, but would like to get out of the tents. Anybody who has rented a camper van for Joberg2c or Epic and has some tips etc to share, please share them? What were the biggest issues if any? Did it add to the experience and allow the best of both worlds, being in the race village for the atmosphere but with your own toilet and shower? Thanks
  4. That looks like summerset estate in Midrand? Try see if you can get hold of the CCTV footage from the gate, there is a chance that a camera has a view of the site. The estate is quite jacked up from a security perspective, go to the gate and try get hold of the estate manager.
  5. Where are you based? I have one if you are in JHB and want to come and get it. PM me and I will give details.
  6. I meant I was giving up on them i.e. the chaintugs ever arriving with our lovely postal system. I managed to get some this morning from Hunter cycles, fairly pricey but should do the job.
  7. I had the same thought about Rapide, will pop them a mail. Seems so many people are looking for them. I ordered from On-one on 28 November........frames eventually arrived but no tugs, resent on 6 January and still missing. I see you can order from Chain reaction, but the delivery charge exceeds the price of the tugs if you want to use DHL.
  8. Anyone know where I can get chain tugs in JHB or from a local online shop? The ones I ordered from On-one seem to have gone missing for the second time in the post, I give up with them now.
  9. XX1. I will never go back to more than a single chainring in front...
  10. Get a shuttle to Durban or rent a car to get to Durban? SHould be fairly cheap to rent a car for a couple of hours and drive the 100 odd km to the airport.
  11. Anyone know where I can buy chain links for a 1/2 x 1/8 inch chains locally?
  12. Right, I have been commuting on my new SS for the last 3 days, and am finding it quite hard going up the hills. I am riding with a 32:16 combo and the wheels are 29 inch. What combo's are other people riding with?
  13. I ordered the chain tugs but they didn't arrive, so have been resent. However, I made a mistake (or got lucky) and took more links off the chain then I had intended, so basically now the wheel is as far forward as it can go and the chain is tight. Rode it in to work this morning and it seemed perfect. Not sure what that will do long term, but I can't see any major issues being caused.
  14. Very happy how it turned out!
  15. I also went from 26DS to 29HT and I love it. Have keep the 26 DS but never even ride it. Am sure it's "horses for courses", but for a Sani2c or most of the races in Gauteng, I think the HT is great. Also went XX1, which I know some love and some hate, but it' made the bike such a simple mating compared to the DS which has far more moving parts....
  16. Am building an Inbred, and lack some knowledge. Want to install the BB, but not sure what spacers to use. The bike has a 68mm BB shell, and the BB I am installing is the Shimano XT one. Should I be using a spacer on either side or just on the drive side or what?
  17. Anybody know a good place to buy a spinning bike in the Sandton/JHB area?
  18. I also have this fork and it's fairly new, and I don't see a huge difference between the T & D settings. There is a difference, but not as much as the "50%" you use in your example. I ride on T basically the whole time, and seems fine to me.
  19. Guys I too want to build a SS, should be a nice holiday project, but it's rather intimidating when you are not that clued up. The on-one Inbred frame looks cool so that's probably where I will start. Has anybody ordered all the parts needed for that particular frame? Am wondering what I need to order from their site and what I can source locally or from other sites? What's good, rigid fork or suspension fork? Am really just building for fun, have quite a few other bikes, this would just be my first SS!
  20. Not sure if there is one, but what is the average torque you should use on a carbon bike to be safe? On some parts it's written, but say for example when you tighten your brake levers onto your carbon bar, what torque should you use?
  21. I have also done lots of riding on my hard tail & dual sus both with Racing Ralph snake skin and had no issues. Before the snake skin I had the Evo version I think, and destroyed those really quickly.

    XX1

Are you confusing "want" and "need". I am sure a lot of fun riders want to have the top of the range group SRAM group set including me, but whether they need it is a different story. I really like my XX1, it's great. Does it make me faster? No. Do I care? No. Why did I buy it? Partially because I can and partially for the weight saving and the tiny bit less maintenance without a front deraileur etc..
  23. It could be a silly question, but why would rotating 3 chains be better than changing the chain when it's fairly worn for a new one?
  24. I have the opportunity to ride the adventure but worry there isn't enough time left to train? i am an experienced rider (Joberg2c, 6 x Sani 2c and quite a few others), but this year have taken a "family" break, haven't ridden since Berg & Bush last November. Anyone think effectively 10 weeks is enough time to get fit again for a 3 day race?
  25. I have been using them for the past 10 years at least (I think could be more, they used to be in a little shop where Morningside shopping centre is now) and I don't think you have anything in particular to worry about. The owners are honest guys, if you are worried give them a call and get a quote. Obviously they are not perfect like any business, but I would trust them. Their only fault is they can be a bit disorganised at times, but I have always got what I wanted from them ultimately.
