  1. My Intense Primer. Still own it and every year I wonder what to replace it with, and cannot think of anything that will ride like it, weigh the same or be as fun. Sadly dont ride it as much as I want to and rather ride my eBike or Enduro bike mostly these days, but taking it out for a 50km jaunt, I can hit all the DH sections pretty much on par with my enduro bike (Intense Tracer 279 180mm). Fuckit I love the Primer. EDIT: other bikes I've really loved was my 1997 GT Zaskar, 2001 Giant DH-Team and 2015 Giant Trance 650b.
  2. Double post because I'm an idiot.
  3. This Franschhoek Pass thing has me going WTF! (and the mast one, especially as I was contemplating my annual ride up in the next week or so - by myself, but the Franschhoek Pass one is WTF!). This should not be a difficult sting. Rider on comms ambling up looking fabulous (it is pride month) and then back down. An hour later, same someone else. Rinse repeat with cops / etc at top and bottom in plain clothes / cars that can block the road or give chase once it goes down. A proper sting and grabbing of these ***** very publicaly will send a message. But will our province and police just ignore, because, hey, it's work? If they could be hurt or bleeding afterwards, that's a bonus.
  4. So you're not into strap ons then?
  5. Have a One Up with cable still sealed. In Cape Town.
  6. Lets say I have to wear baggies when I take my road bike for it's twice a year roll around the peninsula. 😉
  7. New Dakar 911's. As much as I love driving the GT3 RS and the older ones, the one that left the biggest impression on me was the new Dakar 911 in the desert in April.
  8. any bigger balls and you'd need to start mountain biking. I'm on a Teams meeting that is 3 hours in talking about 911's. Had worse jobs, but the German "literal" view of everything is killing me. haha.
  9. I wont see you naked, so cant judge you. Thank god.
  10. Proof that from time to time BikeHub forum posts offer useful advice. Apparently if you buy a Fenix or Instinct wristwatch you gain 4". But it's probably more as they always refer to the guys wearing them as "what a big dick".
  11. I dont dare diss Garmin on BikeHub. It's like trying to explain to MK supporters why their vote was wasted. 😆 Happiest ever losing both Garmin watch and headunit. But I dont have time today to argue on the hub, so I will just put in bold italics and underlined: GARMIN IS AMAZING OMFG! MAKES YOUR WILLY BIGGER OWNING ONE! 🤣
  12. Finally what we've all been saying for years, their "Brain" was rubbish. I remember my first time riding a friend's SWORKS Epic as a loaner with the brain, I legit thought the rear wheel or suspension was broken. hahaha.
  13. I must be honest, especially this time of year, even as a cyclist there are certain groups (and some individuals) you really just wish you could drive over. Scant regard for anyone else, rolling reds and then giving people middle fingers if they dare hoot etc. Roadies are their own worst enemies (small minority ruining it for everyone else) and really want their bread buttered on both sides. By the time drivers get to the good / well behaved, rule abiding ones, they've passed a dozen assholes and are over it. Now for the Hubbers with zero, fokkol, and no sense of humour, I am not condoning driving over roadies in my first paragraph. So sit down, calm down and stay in the yellow lane.
  14. I dont think he was calling them out, he simply (and politely) asked for alternatives to Ciovita for custom kit. No long posts etc, just a simple question. And also no need to drag out anything more than the original post to appease people wondering why.
  15. There's a lot, but also look at Enjoy and Vye for example. There's some others like Anatomic and Velotex, but both of them look / feel like they're stuck in the early 90's.
  16. I have a huge complaint too. Every time I go there I spend money. They always have the tyres I want (size / casing / model) and also do great work on the suspension and wheel build etc. It's just plain bad for my wallet. And I'm always late for my next appointment or meeting because they're great blokes to chat to as well. That's about it. And looking back at the above, damn those are positives. So suppose I dont have a complaint, but this is the internet so I'll just post anyway as it beats working on a Friday afternoon.
  17. CSA appears to be ANC in applying service, value and logic.
  18. Only ever EXCELLENT service and going the extra mile. I have ordered crap loads from them and both Naas and Janos been great every time, even going out of their way to order a shimano dropper lever I wanted as part of an order.
  19. Seems a bit whingey. Share what you do want, and share what you dont want to share. And she can Strava a ride, share it, and still go slow and see the scenery? Even adding crossfit (she did tell us afterall) etc.. share it or dont. Use the metrics or not. Or just stop using the platform altogether? I can only imagine her crying on a TikTok when Donald Trump becomes president next year. 🤣
  20. Maybe I'm just too slow? 🤣 Maybe late 90's DH I dinged a Mvic D321 or something, but cannot remember a ding in the past 20 years. But you touched on bad susp on the original poster's bike. This is a good point too. But even lately with Fox Factory suspension on my bikes - I've found tyre pressures to make the biggest "feel good" difference (assuming we also have suspension properly set up or as close to as). Someone recommended these: https://www.takealot.com/sks-tyre-pressure-sensor-for-bicycles-airspy-sv-set-of-2/PLID70964465 (cheaper than Tyre Wiz) and if they didn't look so ugly, I'd probably give them a bash.
  21. A pie would be nice right now to be honest. Not had a good pepper steak pie in months. 😍 I went to Morzine with a EXO rear DHRII on my DH bike and rode a lot of off piste stuff without issue. I've also never dinged a rim or cracked a carbon rim. Line choice and not being a plow rider. Also no inserts. No issues (even with an EXO not EXO+ on Eeeb) with Maxxis or the brief flirt with Schwalbe, but one every ride on Bontrager, and similar in group of friends? Gonna def stick with "Bontrager tyres are rubbish". Now to source a pie..... 🤑
  22. LOL The BikeHubbers keyboard warriors return. I dont give a f*ck about Bontrager casings. The dude at Gear Change sold it to me as a replacement for the DHRII I couldnt get. Raved about it and told me it was amazing. Like every Trek fanboi does too, it's kaaak. Simple. That's all I've said. And it's enough consistent feedback for me from friends who've bought Rails or Slash with Bontrager tyres too. Changed within a few rides. You're welcome to your Chingchong tyres, I'll stick to what works. I'm not a Maxxis fan, but they appear to be the best and most consistent offering with a variety of options (Assegai/DHRII on eeb and enduro bike, DHRII and Minion SS on Trail bike etc).
  23. Not at all, just not come across such a POS product in modern mountain biking. There is no reason to have such **** products sold to us in this day and age. Reminded me of the "DH Casing" Tioga tyres from 1999. More flats than Table View.
  24. I forgot to add, the minute I could get a Maxxis (R900 which was almost half) I put it on and magically all the issues went away and I threw that Bontrager in the bin.
