  1. will you be able to wear this in any event? will a shorty suit like this still help with the swimming and keep you from sinking to the bottom? How much will this help with body temps in cold water? sorry for all the questions, just thinking about if you have to choose between this and a full suit? ta
  2. my hopes of really getting a proper tri done are looking slim. Have not had a swim in months, since the only available pool was closed due to poor maintenance, and now the pool is under construction, making it smaller by almost 10 meters. Running have become a painful activity because of a busted knee that does not want to get better. Struggled to do 3km this morning. At least the cycling part is going ok, so if all else fails at least I will still be a cyclist.
  3. hi AlanD, there will always be other things to pay for first, higher priorities etc. On the other hand (maybe soon for you), the fenix is a awesome piece of tech to have and you will not be disappointed. Yes, you are not an extreme athlete, but neither am I, but o boy I love that watch. Wear it almost every day. You can always buy something cheaper that might give you some of the things that you require, but you will also always wonder what it would be like to have the fenix. Of course you can go without it, life will not end, buy and pay the critical things first. But if you have done that and can save up just for the watch, then just buy the thing already. I guess only you would be able to know whether you can afford it or not. Priorities will determine. For me it is family first, but if I have that sorted then once in a while you can spoil yourself. good luck mate.
  4. just made a cuppa at work with the aeropress. even though the beans are not that fresh, it still beats the hell out of the drip filter pot's coffee!!

  8. ooooo that's pretty
  9. or just get an nespresso and give her a cup of that in the morning
  10. thx again for the advice, the hub always supports!!! I just want a decent cup. The missus only drinks 1 cup a day, in the morning, and I want to make it as decent as possible. She quite likes a cappuccino type, so maybe as you say stick to moka & aeropress, get a decent grinder and look for fresh beans. Then maybe just add a milk frother something, to get that top layer decent.
  11. Hi V12man, thanks for the info. Getting anything other than Woollies beans is a difficult task, so the freshness is not always as it should be. But I am looking at upgrading my set-up to improve the taste. will something like this make a difference to get a decent shot http://www.home.co.za/pdp/breville-coffee-machine-cafe-venezia/_/A-334002AC6 instead of using the mokka or the aeropress, if I combine it with a grinder like the nerd proposed earlier, or the severin grinder I looked at earlier? the link you give seems to drag and I couldn't see any pricing options with the grinders. Thx.
  12. nice dude congrats. Looks awesome
  13. Hi, Is it possible to get a crema on your coffee if you use your stove top mokka or aeropress. My stove top gives it as the coffee comes out, but by the time I can get it in the cup there is nothing. Also with the aeropress, if I change from paper filter to steel, will it make any difference? Will this improve if I get a proper grinder, or does it only really happen when you use a espresso extraction method/machine? thanks
  14. Hi, Thank you, I will have a look at these as well.
  15. Hi, Thank you I will have a look.
  16. Thank you. Any other recommendations in that price range?
  17. Hi, Ok so I had a look at bean to cup, and as much as I would love to, I cannot afford a Jura or something similar. I do enjoy making a cuppa with the aeropress. I think I will upgrade to get the stainless filter for the aeropress, as my paper filters are running low. Then I think I need to improve my grind. So the next question is, which grinder (preferably not manual) is decent without leaving me short for a year. any comments on these: https://www.yuppiechef.com/severin.htm?id=7855&name=Severin-Coffee-Grinder https://www.yuppiechef.com/dualit.htm?id=12282&name=Dualit-Burr-Coffee-Grinder thanks
  18. where will the notsofastandslightlyoverweight runners comment?
  19. hi,thanks for the reply. Yes I know a lot of different makers have been discussed, but this thread is massive with lots of info, so just looking for a start point. I will check out the jura, thanks for the advice.
  20. Hi guys. Looking at maybe getting a coffee machine in a couple of months. Been using the mokka stove top pot, and aeropress. We have a small cheap grinder and it is working for us. But want to look at a bean to cup type of machine for daily use. Not to bothered about all the fancy machines and techniques. Just looking for something fairly easy to use, press a button and get a decent cup of coffee in the morning. What would you recommend? ta
  21. the facilities available for the supporters and family members at the venue was really poor. And I did not even get a medal or a hot glass of powerade at the finish.......
  22. was my first road race on a road bike, did the 60km. Kept dropping my chain, front DR was out for some unknown reason, but otherwise a good day out.
  23. ok thx for the info.
  24. Hi all, some advice needed. The only pool I have access to might be shut down for a couple of months for maintenance. I don't have any real other options in the area for swimming. My last swim was the MiWay Sun City Sprint, and I really want to do the Rockman in December. I see the swim is a 1.8km I think, which is a lot in my books. If I cannot practise swimming in the pool, what else can I do that will enable me to still do the Tri without dying on the swim leg? How is the dam being used for the Rockman, will one be able to stand if not able to swim or is it deep? Really want to do this, but if I cannot compete in the swim I will have to cancel this plan. Any advice welcome.
