  1. thank you Sir, I will have a look!!
  2. cool thx again. Just as long as I can finish the swim, that is a big concern. I am slowly building up my running miles, and will try and do some brick sessions if time allows to build up some strength.
  3. Hi shaper, not sure yet. The beginning of the year events (I think EL 70.3) is quite early. Not sure about that after December leave, so maybe Durban in June. Hopefully I will be better prepared for the sun city event next year and do the ultra.
  4. thx for the advice and details shaper. Will have a look after this weekends comrades to see if some running shoes come on special. Also will take some time this winter to build up some base miles for running (never ran a 21km before) and work on some time on the bike and idt. In the spring I will need to get going with swimming, as this is a big concern. thx
  5. Hi, I need some more advice on gear. I only started out recently, have a pair of tekkies and a mountain bike. I am really thinking of a 70.3 next year. What should I save up for first? Wetsuit, trisuit, road bike. I think probably a skinny ass bike? Were do you guys do your shopping for tri gear? I am not in the big city, so online options will be first prize. cheers
  6. well I suppose if you earned your stripes, you can enjoy the spoils.
  7. I also bought some first ascent compression socks. Must admit they are very comfy and tight. If you do not want to use the full sock, how about only wearing the calf compression wear, without the toe section? Any comments or feedback on these?
  8. All the best to everyone taking on this big race! May your feet be light and your spirit strong!
  9. hi shaper thanks for the info. I am still without wetsuit, so open dam water in August might be a problem, and I only have an outer pool available for training, so no swimming happening in the next few months!
  10. very nice. I also recently started looking at doing something similar. Keep us posted on how it works. It looks way to clean for a work bench!
  11. the bela bela looks nice. I like the distances of 1.5 swim, 40km bike and 10km run. I completed my first tri - sprint earlier this at Sun City, and the swim almost killed me. I have not, and will not have another swim until the warmer weather sets in later again. I will try and spend the winter months racking up some time on the IDT and gaining some km's on my asics!
  12. When is bela bela, or if you have a link available?
  13. Nice tip shaper!

  19. hi, ok thanks I will give it a go!!
  20. Hi shaper, it worked perfectly thank you. On the fenix, I must manually add the wheel size, which it asks for in mm. so 29inch = 736.6 mm. is this the correct number to enter? I have a road wheel on the back, so should the value be something else, or only 700mm?
  21. shot shaper thx, will probably just replace the battery and then give it a shot.
  22. Hi I have a old (brand new unused) garmin GSC 10 cadence sensor that came with my old 705. will I be able to pair the unit with my fenix3 for use on the IDT, or will I have to buy the new speed/cadence sensor? ta
