  1. I'm riding on Sunday - whether Nance joins or not. Prefer her to be there though... Shebeen might be a bit further than what the others want to go?
  2. Dropping Nance a mail...
  3. Sounds good... questions: Where do you start from (Hopefully "Nancy's" place) To the top / shebeen / further? Is Nance going along?
  4. I have no idea... relaxed but not slow? Been a year since I've been on the MTB offroad, otherwise it has only done Critical Mass duties. Have done a lot of road riding in the last year though.
  5. Anybody doing a long-ish ride on Sunday? I'm not keen to do laps around NF for 4 hrs. Maybe Breedts (and over)? Otherwise I'll have to revert to the black stuff agan Ride Details: Base2Breedts (http://bit.ly/Base2Breedts) to top of Breedts and back Distance: ~57km Date: Sunday, 9 December 2012 Meeting: 06:00am? Budgie S.I.R Maxxis opted out. He is going with(to?) the dogs now Directions (From B2B FB page): From Joburg South take the N1 North and exit at the 14th Avenue offramp, turn left at the offramp and at the 2nd set of traffic lights turn right onto Hendrik Potgieter. From Joburg North take the N1 South and exit at the 14th Avenue offramp, turn right at the offramp and at the 3rd set of traffic lights turn right onto Hendrik Potgieter. From Pretoria take the R28/N14 towards Krugersdorp. At the traffic lights just before Krugersdorp hill, turn right onto the N14 towards Ventersdorp Now we should all be on the same road: Continue on this road until T-Junction @ R563; turn right towards Hekpoort. Keep right at the Ventersdorp split and continue for +-20kms. Next T-Junction turn right towards Hartebeespoort (R560/R563) (27d 36' 39" E, 25d 53'13"S) (This is where you would normally turn left to go to the petrol station). Keep on this road for +-2kms until you see a Hartebeesfontein sign turn left onto the dirt road (27d 37' 17" E, 25d 52' 51"S) Carry on for a further +-100m turn right into the first road - the sign says Bultfontein (27d 37' 13" E, 25d 52' 40" S) and carry on for a further +-500/600m. The entrance is on the RHS (look out for the blue HP6 sign) (27d 37' 26" E, 25d 52' 13").
  6. My 2XU's do not show any cycling (long) bib tan lines....
  7. brown = dirt (MTB) black = tar (road bike) snap! walkerr beat me to it
  8. Time for the rest of ZA to follow up with this. Did the Ian kernick 200km ride yesterday and the total disregard motorists have for cyclists is totally shocking! http://www.pedalpower.org.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/bumper-sticker-small1.jpg I'm not a big sticker on the car fan, but I'm seriously considering this one!
  9. Could have been as easy as dates getting an incorrect default, or a custom setting that got interrupted? Glad you found it though! Hope you get it sorted
  10. You've taken this up with them in the 'few weeks' since purchase? Lots of people rave about them, so seriously doubt the 'scammer' tag. Although, you are acting like a typical hubber. Are you sure the money went off your credit card? Contact Fittrack, sort out the problem and come back and apologise.
  11. The only positives I could generate: cyclist - check computer programmer - check bored - check (this week)
  12. I've got various screens on my Edge 800. On long rides I'm more worried about time and distance. Racing I watch the wheel in front of me (and HR) One screen with classic info: speed/avg speed, total distance, total time, cadence/avg cadence. Separate one for splits - normally 5km splits showing split time & speed. Separate screen for power: IF, NP, 1S, 3S, 10S, 30S, Total Avg. I only watch the screen intensely when I do intervals (not that often lately). Metric measured in interval determines what is displayed: Cadence/HR/Power.
  13. I'm scaling down my participation from Solo SS to part time spectator
  14. Like the wheels and helmets people leave at home
  15. blisters/chafing... Nothing that Elastoplast won't prevent
  16. No food, or drinks?
  17. Much like gloves for me... If they fit comfortably around the fingers, they are too wide around the wrist. If the theory of mittens(gloves) to keep fingers warm is true, then the individual 'pockets' for toes should keep them cooler than normal socks?
  18. EVERYTHING! You were born barefoot, weren't you? normal running shoes interfere with the natural biomechanics of your foot. firstly with the huge drop from heel to toe, and secondly (most probably not last) with all the stiffening and support.
  19. Dangle runs in them. Also search for BarefootSaDave, or is that BarefootDaveSA in FB & twitter. Barefoot Dave is a hubber as well.. can't recall his hub name now... some geeky letter/number nick. 5 Vingers are pulled over your bare feet and are used for 'barefoot;/minimalist running if you are not brave enough to run barefoot properly, or with Huaraches
  20. here it is.. OP updates the first post every month with the next date and time...
  21. Annette quoted a 2011 post... 19:00 it is as far as my memory serves ...
  22. Sounds like it will be only during/because of the road works. Different? Yes! Easy? No! Might make it easier to get accommodation (or more difficult with everybody staying in Nelspruit now)
  23. So maybe it will look something like this then? Roughly mapped based on directions above seems to be in the general ballpark... Jock Stage 1 41.5 km (Green going out from under the red) Jock Stage 2 45.9 km (Pink) Jock Stage 3 62.2 km (red back to Nelspruit)
  24. If all else fails I speak to Barry to find you. That said, I might have have ridden with you before on one of those l-o-n-g Cresta club rides out to the west. either the Harties & Hekpoort or one of those past Randfontein during October
  25. I'd really like to see how they get the Long Tom Pass into stage 3 between Sabie and Nelspruit and keep the distance down to 63km. Garmap tells me that Sabie to top of LTP, and u-turn back to Nelspruit is 115km?
